Chapter 100 - Huliena’s Assessment 3

The scene that appeared again was one Huliena had never seen before. But from the environment and what she had heard previously, she could tell—this was the legendary place known as the City of Slaughter.

The City of Slaughter was a mysterious place, one whose establishment had even involved the help of the Spirit Hall. Once someone entered, leaving wasn't easy. The city held many criminals, desperate people, and even numerous evil soul masters.

It was precisely because such a place existed that Douluo Continent had remained relatively safe for so many years. Even ordinary people without soul power could work openly without worrying about being preyed upon by evil soul masters. Girls could walk outside at night, because Spirit Hall members were stationed in cities to ensure the safety of civilians.

In short, the safety of the continent relied heavily on both the City of Slaughter and Spirit Hall.

Because she could not intervene, "Huliena" spent her time observing during her own trials in the City of Slaughter, absorbing experience she might need later.

During this time, Huliena met a man from Hao Tian Sect. He called himself Tang Yin. Huliena was skeptical. A Hao Tian Hammer soul without soul rings—could this actually be Tang San in disguise? After all, soul bones and soul skills capable of disguising one's identity were not unheard of.

Her own Little Lord had a head soul bone that could disguise itself. Ning Rongrong also had a body soul bone capable of concealment. Huliena thought to herself: I have a Nine-Tailed Fox soul. Shouldn't I get a soul bone or skill with some disguise ability too? Otherwise, I'm wasting the power of my own Nine-Tailed Fox soul.

Watching the duo complete their victories and prepare to enter Hell Road, Huliena quickly refocused, paying attention to how they navigated Hell Road to gain their domain. She wanted to see exactly what this Hao Tian Sect disciple intended, and whether he really was Tang San.

To Huliena's shock, she realized just how weak she herself was. Watching Tang Yin protect her, she couldn't bear to look away. This was not her—Huliena would never admit that she was so weak as to need an enemy's protection. From that moment, she resolved to train harder than Little Lord, vowing never to witness such a pitiful scene again.

As the journey progressed, Huliena noticed something strange: the way "Huliena" behaved toward Tang Yin was odd. Was she intending to use charm to lure a Hao Tian Sect disciple back to Spirit Hall? Or was there some other plan? Huliena could not have guessed the truth: because of the life-saving favor, "Huliena" had already developed feelings for Tang Yin.

When the scene darkened again, Huliena's mind had settled. She still didn't fully understand the assessment, but even seeing this much was rewarding. If anything came, she would deal with it—it was just a matter of adapting.

Before the next scene appeared, Huliena was already curious about Tang Yin's true identity. By now, she was eighty percent certain that Tang Yin was indeed Tang San. She only didn't understand how an ordinary man could become so handsome. Was it merely a disguise? If so, he was going too far—disguising himself as a handsome man to attract women. A shiver ran down Huliena's spine.

The scene shifted again with Huliena's thoughts.

"Is this the Star Dou Great Forest?" she wondered, glancing around.

As time passed, Huliena saw many Spirit Hall elites, including two Title Douluos of the Chrysanthemum Ghost. While marveling at Spirit Hall's strong presence, she suddenly noticed an intruder.

"Who are you?" a cold voice warned, emanating God of Killing Domain fully. The ice-cold, bloodthirsty aura sent shivers through everyone present.

"Is it really you?" A voice of surprise called out. Huliena, Xie Yue, and Yan emerged from the forest. Huliena recognized the man who had walked Hell Road with her—Tang Yin—and rushed forward in excitement.

At the sight of this excited, childlike demeanor, Huliena (the observer) was stunned. Could it really be what she feared?

Tang Yin looked surprised to see Huliena, seemingly not expecting to meet an old acquaintance here.

Huliena hurried forward, exclaiming, "How are you here?" Time had passed for a year, but she could never forget their brief cooperation on Hell Road.

Watching "Huliena" blush and beam with joy, Huliena could see clearly: the rescued experience had made this silly fox fall for Tang Yin—no, for Tang San.

"I didn't expect to see you here," Tang Yin said lightly.

"Everyone, he's my friend," Huliena introduced him. Then she turned, smiling sweetly, her large, tender eyes fixed on Tang Yin. "I didn't expect… you're here to hunt soul beasts?"

Tang Yin nodded quietly. "I'll reach level sixty soon."

The crowd was incredulous. Though they had all reached level sixty, Tang Yin clearly appeared younger—his talent was exceptional.

Yan could not hold back, asking Huliena, "Nana, who is he? Why have I never seen him before?"

Huliena frowned slightly, replying, "He's my friend."

She turned to Tang Yin, her voice gentle: "Tang Yin, why come alone to such a dangerous place as the Star Dou Great Forest? Didn't anyone help you hunt soul beasts? Isn't this too dangerous?"

Tang Yin looked at Huliena, a lonely tone in his voice: "If I don't come alone, who else could help me?"

Seeing the loneliness in his eyes, Huliena's heart ached. She blurted out, "You still have me!"

Hearing this, even Yan, who liked Huliena, and Xie Yue, changed expressions.

The real Huliena, unable to control the body and silently observing, grew furious. She suspected her body had been hijacked, preventing her from taking control, and watched the fool act recklessly.

A level sixty Hao Tian Hammer soul was not a small hammer without soul rings. Every detail confirmed to Huliena: this Tang Yin was Tang San. Although she didn't understand why he revealed himself now, it was clearly for selfish purposes, using her. Huliena only wanted to regain control of her body quickly and deal with this deceiver.

A chill ran through her. The Huliena of this world would never betray Spirit Hall because of a deceiver. If that were to happen, she might as well self-destruct. Her life had never allowed betrayal of Spirit Hall.

Tang San, relying on his superb acting learned at Yue Xuan Academy, portrayed himself as abandoned by the sect, helplessly journeying alone to the City of Slaughter, and now hunting soul beasts alone. He felt no guilt, believing there was nothing wrong with using an innocent girl's feelings.

With Spirit Hall's attention elsewhere, Tang San could only retreat strategically. Both concerned Huliena and the cautious Yan prevented him from leaving, forcing him to stay.

Huliena's attention was fixed on Tang San's warm, charming smile, his elegance suddenly apparent. She had never seen him like this before; the coldness had melted into warmth. Huliena could not help but stare, imprinting his image in her mind.

Even when Yan tried to provoke her, Huliena asserted her Saintess status to silence him. Watching "Huliena" fall under Tang San's spell, losing all sense of duty, the observing Huliena's heart grew cold. She could not understand how Huliena could care so little for Spirit Hall's mission after only a few days with a man.

Yan's interference was neutralized by Xie Yue, who calmed him and ensured Tang San stayed, only to monitor him in case of mission complications.

Ultimately, the Chrysanthemum Ghost Douluo returned. Seeing a stranger, a Hao Tian Sect member, his first thought was to kill him.

Huliena quickly intervened, grabbing his hand and pleading sweetly, "Grandpa Ghost, Tang Yin saved my life. Please let him be. He won't interfere with our mission."

The Ghost smiled, "Silly girl, your heart is always distracted. Keeping him is partly for you. I can see it—you've fallen for that boy. He truly is outstanding, no less than Xie Yue or Yan, and like you, has the God of Killing Domain. Truly talented.

"But to be with him, his identity is the issue. If he joined Spirit Hall and made contributions, perhaps the High Priest would accept him."

Huliena immediately rejected the idea, blushing: "Grandpa Ghost, how could I persuade him to act against his sect? The Hao Tian Sect is already secluded. Must we destroy it completely?"

The Ghost frowned at her words, warning that this could not be mentioned to the High Priest. The Hao Tian Sect had to be eradicated.

Watching the childlike, blushing Huliena, the observing Huliena felt all desire to continue fade. She saw how Spirit Hall's mission would fail because of Tang San.

Thanks to repeated guidance from Little Lord Qian Ren Yue, Huliena understood Tang San possessed a certain luck and divine protection, even the Sea God. Anything he did was more likely to succeed. With Spirit Hall unwittingly letting a wolf in, the mission would fail.

Huliena no longer wished to watch. She began meditation, training to regain control of her body. If she could not kill Tang San, she would kill herself. She would never allow anyone to betray or harm Spirit Hall, not even herself.

As Huliena predicted, Tang San's infiltration caused Spirit Hall's plan to hunt 100,000-year-old shape-shifting soul beasts to fail.

His actions alerted the 100,000-year-old soft-bone rabbit, which fled to seek protection from the other two 100,000-year-old soul beasts.

Chrysanthemum Ghost Douluo and Ghost Douluo used Soul Fusion Technique and Polar Stasis Domain to immobilize two 100,000-year-old soul beasts, ordering Spirit Hall members to capture the soft-bone rabbit.

Unexpectedly, Tang San's betrayal caused them to miss the best chance. He successfully escaped with the soft-bone rabbit.

Despite full pursuit, Spirit Hall suffered heavy losses. Tang San used a poisonous hidden weapon, taking out several Soul Saint-level experts.

Finally, even when blocked by a ten-thousand-year-old human-faced demon spider, Tang San, a Soul King, managed to survive surrounded by multiple Soul Saints, even counterattacking.

Huliena realized: Tang San's luck and Sea God protection explained his extraordinary resilience.

Ultimately, the sacrifice of the small 100,000-year-old soft-bone rabbit preserved Tang San's life. Spirit Hall's mission failed completely—no gain, heavy losses. To prevent the other two 100,000-year-old soul beasts from intervening, they did not pursue Tang San, returning defeated.

After this, Huliena suspected something. Could her inexplicable feelings for Tang San be due to his luck or Sea God intervention? Otherwise, she could not understand why she would risk Spirit Hall's mission for a man she had only known a few days, even telling him not to destroy the Hao Tian Sect.

Huliena resolved that once she returned, she would stay close to Little Lord, eliminating Tang San or the Sea God's influence over her. She would not let herself fall for romance.

Another thought: Tang San's girlfriend, Xiao Wu, was actually the 100,000-year-old soft-bone rabbit. If captured before returning to the Star Dou Great Forest, without interference from the other two soul beasts, it would be easy, and she could report back to Little Lord.

With Huliena's thoughts, the second scene gradually faded.
