Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: I Think I've Stumbled into a Supervillain Headquarters

As expected of a major corporation, Osborn Group was highly efficient, and the test results were quickly returned.

Just as Du Mu had claimed.

A patient suffering from cancer, upon drinking the Life Potion, miraculously recovered normal physical functions in an extremely short time!

Aside from residual cancer cells, the patient was virtually the same as a healthy person. As long as they continued taking the potion, even cancer would not pose a life threat.

Unfortunately, after detailed chemical analysis by the Osborn Group's top research department, they could not analyze any of the potion's ingredients, let alone replicate it.

Hearing this conclusion, Norman was both surprised and disappointed.

He immediately turned to Du Mu and anxiously asked, "Mr. Doom, how much more of this Life Potion do you have?"

Du Mu shook his head: "None. This is the only bottle I've successfully produced so far."

Norman: "???"

Why didn't you say so earlier!

Norman's composure instantly broke.

If he had known that, he definitely would have drunk it himself first!

Before Norman could recover from his regret, Du Mu immediately added: "However, with enough materials and time, I can try to produce more Life Potions."

In truth, Du Mu still had some Life Potions, but he certainly wouldn't just hand them over, or how else would he continue his fishing expedition?

Hearing this, the gloom on Norman's face instantly vanished, replaced by an extremely eager smile.

He took a step forward and clapped Du Mu hard on the shoulder: "Mr. Doom, you are officially hired. From this moment on, you are a Senior Researcher at the Osborn Group."

"I will arrange your lab as quickly as possible. Ask for whatever you need; the Osborn Group will fully satisfy your research requirements."

"As for salary and benefits, I can offer you the highest standard, including a home and a car worth no less than a million dollars. I guarantee you won't be disappointed, Mr. Doom. How does that sound?"

Du Mu's expression became serious, and his tone was firm: "I am ready to go through fire and water for the Osborn Group, Mr. Osborn!"

Norman smiled with satisfaction: "Very good. I will have someone take you on a tour of the Osborn Group environment shortly. I have only one request, and that is to produce a new Life Potion as soon as possible."

"No problem, Mr. Osborn."

Du Mu nodded in agreement.

After a few more pleasantries, Norman turned and left.

As the big boss of the Osborn Group, he was very busy, unlike a privileged figure like Tony, who just threw all his work onto his female assistant, Pepper.

Not long after, the door was pushed open, and a blonde girl in a white lab coat walked in.

"Hello, Mr. Doom, I'm Gwen Stacy, and I'm responsible for showing you around the Osborn Group," Gwen said with a smile.

"Great."

Led by Gwen, Du Mu began his tour of the Osborn building.

First, they arrived at the Osborn Group's Biology Department and met the person in charge there.

"This is Professor Curt Connors, our outstanding scientist at the Osborn Group," Gwen introduced.

"Hello, pleased to meet you."

Professor Connors had a gentle demeanor and extended his left hand.

Du Mu noticed he was missing his right arm and subconsciously checked his information.

[NPC: Curt Connors]

[Codename: The Lizard]

[Affection: 0]

[Evaluation: The Marvel Yang Guo, Spider-Man's arch-nemesis, Peter's mentor]

[Status: Amputated Arm]

Another supervillain?

Du Mu was slightly surprised. He seemed to be encountering quite a lot of supervillains today.

And all of them had deep connections with Peter and later became Spider-Man's enemies.

Did that poor kid Peter have some kind of curse on him?

Afterward, Gwen took Du Mu on a tour of other departments at the Osborn Group, where he saw various developed or developing research projects, each qualifying as a piece of dark technology.

Du Mu was certainly impressed, getting a real look at the substantial capital of the Osborn Group.

He scanned the heads of the various departments, who were without exception top experts in their respective fields. It was as if all the top talents in America had gathered at the Osborn Group.

By contrast, Stark Industries was basically held up by Tony alone.

Thinking about it that way, Tony seemed even more impressive.

While riding the elevator, a Black man in glasses hurriedly rushed in.

"Excuse me! Excuse me!"

The man apologized repeatedly to Du Mu and Gwen while frantically pressing the elevator button.

Seeing the man's forehead, which was so shiny it practically reflected light, Du Mu thought he must be another top talent and subconsciously checked his information.

[NPC: Max Dillon]

[Codename: Electro]

[Affection: 0]

[Evaluation: Power bank, Spider-Man's arch-nemesis, Spider-Man's little fanboy]

Du Mu: "..."

Wait a minute, have I stumbled into the supervillain headquarters?

Why are there supervillains everywhere I go?

The most ridiculous part was that all of them were Spider-Man's arch-nemeses.

Du Mu felt the Osborn Group could just change its name to the Spider-Man Villain Training Center.

Thinking this, he couldn't help but look suspiciously at Gwen beside him.

Could she also be an arch-nemesis of some Spider-Man?

[NPC: Gwen Stacy]

[Codename: Ghost-Spider]

[Affection: 0]

[Evaluation: Daughter of the New York Police Captain, also Spider-Man in the parallel universe Earth-65, Spider-Gwen]

Okay, not an arch-nemesis, but another version of Spider-Man.

"The Osborn Group really is a place where talent gathers!"

Du Mu couldn't help but exclaim.

He then asked, "System, what does Earth-65 mean?"

[That is the game server number. Each server corresponds to a randomly generated, independent game world. There may be NPC individuals you are familiar with, but they are completely different entities]

This time, the game system didn't give Du Mu a perfunctory, official response but answered his question seriously.

Du Mu was immediately interested and asked, "Can I go to other game servers?"

[Yes, the player can unlock access to other servers by continuing to raise their identity authority level]

"Awesome!"

Du Mu couldn't help but feel excited.

He realized the content of this game seemed much richer than he had imagined.

Now this was going to be fun!

Du Mu asked, "What is the number of our server?"

[Earth-9527]

"That's a good number."

Not long after, Du Mu finished touring the Osborn building.

However, he still hadn't found the secret project of Norman's military cooperation.

He knew without thinking that Norman must have hidden it.

Du Mu wasn't in a hurry, though.

After all, Nick Fury hadn't set a time limit, so he might as well slack off a bit at the Osborn Group and continue reading his comic books.
