Fidelia wasn't angry, rather she found it interesting.
"Fine,I was only just saying, " David said, seeing how intense the atmosphere had gotten.
"You seem pretty confident," she added.
"I am. I'm not wrong about stuff like this."
"Alright, don't back down now," Fidelia interjected. "I was planning a company dinner to celebrate our small win. The cost of it—whoever loses this bet covers the expenses for everyone here."
"What? You can't be serious." David's eyes brightened in shock. He didn't expect this
"The CEO was betting with David?" Someone far down the table spoke.
"I don't think she is serious about it" Another employee said
"I'm serious," Fidelia said in a serious tone.
David smirked. "Nice try. That's pocket change for you even if you lose. How about something higher? Shares. One percent."
"Woah David, bold move" A murmur spread through the room.
"Alright," Fidelia said at last, locking eyes with him. "One percent it is."
'What? She agreed?'
'Why didn't I speak up earlier on?' At this point everyone kept their thoughts inside but from their eyes were wide open and their brows raised high.
David rubbed his hands like he was celebrating his win already.
Then Fidelia tilted her head. "Since you increased yours I'll increase mine too."
"What do you want?" David asked.
"No salary for three months for you."
The room became silent again. Mia stood in the corner, arms folded, a faint smile tugging at her lips. This is getting interesting, she thought.
'Would David take the risk? I think having a share in the company is a lot' Sylvester thought as he looked at him.
David hesitated, eyes narrowing. Was she underestimating him? Or was she simply too confident?
'I'm confident,'David repeated to himself. 'I've checked the numbers. The statistics. Everything is on my side.'
"Deal!" David placed his hands on the table and locked eyes at her
Fidelia leaned forward looking at him and then she suddenly smirked. "Mia prepare the paperwork. He signs first. Then I'll sign."
She needed to put this arrogant employee in his place, that's why she made this deal. So they would trust her judgement.
"Moving forward—there is a scandal about you assaulting a patient in the hospital," the head of media announced at the meeting. Mason, the head of Media, spoke.
Maya quickly cut in. "She didn't assault the patient. She was framed for doing so."
All eyes turned to her.
"I know…the way some parts of the video were cut was suspicious," continued. "There's no evidence she assaulted anyone. In fact, it looked staged—like a performance. I didn't buy it."
Fidelia smiled. It seems like she had quite a brilliant mind in the company.
"So what are you trying to point out?" Fidelia asked smoothly.
The head of the media straightened. "We need to take down the video—at all costs, as fast as possible. It's been altered."
Fidelia shook her head. "Not yet. I still have to deal with them. Once I'm done, then you can proceed."
Mason and the others exchanged wary glances, but no one spoke.
Fidelia's gaze shifted. "Mia. Take over."
"I found you."
Her eyes stayed locked on the system as her fingers flew across the keyboard. She caught sight of the couple and the man in a cop, covering his face, slipping out of the hospital. She zoomed in, cleared the image, and froze when she caught the plate number.
Her hands moved faster, tracking the car he used to take the couple away. Within two minutes, she had locked down the exact location.
She grabbed her phone and dialled.
"I found the whereabouts of the couple, but I don't want to involve the police. I'm thinking about who to contact."
"What's your plan?"
"Probably… blackmail them. Or catch them. Expose the secret."
"I don't think that will work. Let me help you out. I'll sort it."
"Are you sure?"
"Don't worry."
"Ok, I'll send you the address" Then the call ended. In about a minute, the address entered as a text message, and Andrian read it and frowned. His hands scrolled through his phone, and then he dialled a contact.
"Mace gather around 10 men tonight, inform them we have someone to teach a lesson. I'll be there by night. Everything should be prepared down"
"Yes Boss" Mace spoke with respect.
Andrian's face became extremely cold as his mind was pretty occupied.
"So he hired those Red Vixen Thugs" Andrian took out a cigar from his drawer and placed it on his lips. Then he took out his lighter and switched it on and off instead of burning the cigar.
