Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Interrogation

Sarah couldn't help but think about what was actually going on.

The fact that Mia, Fidelia's friend, had raised her voice at her showed that whatever happened was strange and serious. And Fidelia's totally different expression was also strange to her.

She followed the route Fidelia's taxi had taken, eventually reaching the bridge. "Stop here," she told the driver. After paying him, she stepped out and looked around.

Her eyes immediately caught a red BMW parked awkwardly near the edge of the bridge. It was Fidelia's car, the one she drove this morning.

Her heart beat immediately skipped. She pulled out her phone and called Mia.

"Mia, I found Fidelia's car," she said quickly. "But she's not here. I've checked around she's nowhere to be found."

Mia's voice came through, tense. "Don't stop searching. Look everywhere you can. I'll call you back, just stay there."

"Alright," Sarah said, glancing around again. Then something caught her attention, it was the loud sound of rotor blades over her head.

She looked up and saw a helicopter was flying in the sky, over the bridge. Through the glare of its lights, Sarah's eyes widened as she caught a glimpse of Andrian inside and someone beside him. Even from that distance, she recognized the clothes.

"Fidelia…" she whispered.

Her hand tightened around her phone. "Mia," she said urgently, "I think something's happened. I just saw Andrian in a helicopter and Fidelia's with him. Judging by the direction they're heading, I think they're going back to his estate."

"Get in the car and come pick me up at the office," Mia said firmly. "We're heading to Andrian's place."

"Understood," Sarah replied moving to the car then she entered it and drove to Mia's as the destination.

Mia had her reasons for meeting with Sarah before going there. Everything that happened with Fidelia needed to stay a secret — especially from Andrian.

If they went there separately, flustered and unprepared, their stories might not match. And if Andrian suspected even a hint of the truth, things could turn dangerous fast. Fidelia had made it clear: Andrian must never know.

So they had to get their story straight first.

It didn't take long before Sarah's car pulled up. Mia got in, and the two women drove off toward AnIdrian's estate.

"Mia, please, what's going on?" Sarah asked. Her face told Mia she was extremely scared something bad had happened.

"You need to calm down. I'll explain what I can, but first, we're arriving at Andrian's place. He's going to ask you if something happened with Fidelia and why you weren't with her. Just tell him she was in a sad mood throughout the day and she relieved you of your duties. And if he asks where else she went, do not mention the hospital."

"Do you understand?"

"Yes, I do," Sarah replied, not questioning her again.

The tension in the car was thick. Neither of them said much, each lost in her own thoughts.

When they arrived, the place was filled with guards on black suit standing guard. Mia and Sarah found this weird but no one said anything.

As they approached, one of the guards stepped forward. "Who are you?" he asked, voice firm.

"I'm Mia," she replied quickly. "Fidelia's friend. I need to see her right now."

"I'm sorry, ma'am," the guard said, shaking his head. "The boss gave strict orders. No one gets in until he says so."

"Look, I don't care what Andrian says," Mia snapped, taking a step forward. "My friend is inside and I need to see her!"

The guards instantly closed in, blocking her path. "Ma'am, please. Step back."

Their expressions were the same and they weren't backing down.

Then a woman's voice cut through the tension. "What's going on here?"

The guards straightened immediately as a tall woman approached — dressed in a black suit, her blonde hair neatly tied up in a tight, curled bun. Her presence alone made everyone step aside.

"Kira," one of the guards murmured with a bow.

Kira's sharp eyes moved from the guards to Mia and Sarah. "And who might you two be?" she asked coolly.

"I'm Mia," she said, meeting Kira's gaze. "Fidelia's friend. I need to see her."

Then she looked at the bodyguard standing to explain while he stopped them.

"Andrian said no one was allowed to enter till he says so"

Upon hearing this she understood and turned to the two ladies.

"Wait here ill go meet Andrian" She walked forward after speaking and they opened way for her to enter.

She wasn't someone they could stop even if they wanted to and they knew her well that why they allowed her access to enter.

"Are you kidding me..how could you let her yet restrict me?" Mia sparked.

"She has access to…you don't" The bodyguard replied and Mia frowned again.

After some minutes Andrian stepped out with Kira. "Let them in," he said. The bodyguard obeyed immediately, stepping aside to clear the way.

Maya frowned at him but said nothing as she brushed past, Kira following close behind. They entered the living room, where Andrian was waiting.

"Where's Fidelia?" Maya asked sharply.

"She's in her room," Andrian replied. "She's asleep for now."

Andrian looked at Mia. "I need you to explain something to me why did I see Fidelia throw herself off a bridge?"

Andrian's jaw tightened. He took a step forward waiting for his answer.

"Andrian, does it look like I know what happened? You think I'd want any of my friends in danger?"

"What I think is you must know why she did so. You are the one she talks to all the time….that's exactly why I'm asking."

Mia scoffed and shot back "I think I should be the one asking you that. I heard you were meeting with her today. What did you say to her?"

"Business," Andrian said defensively. "And… the marriage issues."

Mia's gaze hardened. "What about the marriage issues?"

"I told her," Andrian said with a frown "that my father said the marriage is going to be called off."

"What?" Mia's voice cracked with disbelief.

"I'm working on it," Andrian added quickly.

"How? You know how Fidelia put so much effort in it making sure this marriage works out"

"I don't think I need to tell you anything. In fact I think since you have proven unhelpful you should leave" Andrian tone became deeper.

"Look I'm not one of your employees so don't think of bossing me around you don't feed me. I didn't come here for you I came see Fidelia" Mia said back

"With that tone I'm not letting you. Leave now" Andrian said but Mia ignored him and walked to the room she guessed was Fidelia's own but Andrian caught her hand stopping her as she walked past him.

"My being nice has limits…don't push it" He said in a low tone that dissolved Mia's rage and she felt she shouldn't push it too much or else it would backfire. She knew how Andrian's rage was. Once he got angry there was literally nothing he wouldn't do. Breaking up the marriage preparation would be easy by then and no one could stop him.

"Andrian, calm down..let her see her friend. She is just worried about her" Kira touched Andrian's shoulder and calmed him down.

After about a few seconds of intense pressure in the air Andrian let go of her hand. "Fine"

Kira, Sarah and Mia all exhaled in relief all together upon hearing his tone of his voice change.

Most importantly Mia's heart beat started slowing down, she hated the feeling of someone making her scared and she was starting to hate Andrian.

She walked towards Fidelia's room and entered then immediately she shut the door she fell back to rest on the door holding her chest.

'He is terrifying' She squeezed her hands trying to hold back her anger.

After calming down she noticed Fidelia lying on the bed.

Mia walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, gently checking Fidelia's body. Everything seemed stable, but the fact that she was still sleeping worried her. She needed her to explain what happened before Andrian sparks again.

"Fidelia," she whispered. "What the hell happened to you?"

....

Outside the room Andrian gaze fell on Sarah. He slowly walked towards her with his cold expression back on and this time Kira wasn't planning on stopping him.

They both felt something was off earlier today Andrian was called that his motorbike was found parked in a club last night and he didn't take it. When he checked the CCTV he found out that Fidelia had taken the bike out last night.

Sarah was shaking seeing Andrian walk up to her with Kira made her scared.

"Now tell me everything that happened throughout today..and do not leave anything out because if I find out you won't like what I'll do"

Sarah swallowed hard, her hands trembling. "I... Fidelia was quiet today. She seemed upset, distracted."

"Where did she go?" Andrian asked.

Sarah hesitated, glancing toward the hallway where Mia had disappeared. She knew Mia had told her not to mention the hospital, but standing here under Andrian's cold, penetrating stare, she felt the walls closing in. One lie would lead to another, and if he found out she'd been hiding things…

"I..." Sarah said in a low voice as she closed her eyes giving in to the pressure. "She went to the hospital."

Andrian's expression changed immediately. "The hospital? What hospital? Why?"

"I don't know why," Sarah said quickly trying to escape this punishment

"She didn't tell me. She just said she had an appointment. I waited outside in the car like she asked, and when she came out..." Sarah paused "She seemed different."

"Different how?" Kira asked, stepping closer and listening carefully.

"She looked... down. Sick, maybe. I thought she might have gotten bad news or something, but she didn't talk about it. She just got in the car, told me she wanted to be alone, and dismissed me. She took the car herself after that."

Andrian face squeezed. "And you just left? You didn't follow her? Didn't think to check on her?"

"I wanted to," Sarah said defensively, her voice rising slightly. "But she told me to go home. I thought she just needed space to process whatever happened at the hospital. I didn't think she'd—" She stopped herself, her eyes filling with tears. "I didn't think she'd do something like this."

The reason Sarah was spilling was she was feeling guilty that she couldn't stop Fidelia. If she had refused to go she would have been able to stop her from attempting suicide.

Sarah wiped her eyes quickly. "After she left Mia called me. She was worried because Fidelia wasn't answering her phone so she told me to go look for her, to follow the route she would have taken. That's when I found the car at the bridge, but Fidelia wasn't there. And then I saw you and her in the helicopter..."

Andrian kept quiet for a while and was trying to figure out why Fidelia went to the hospital. A few days ago she was traumatised by what her stepmother and stepsister had done.

'Was that why she went to the psychiatrist hospital?'

"What hospital?" he asked suddenly, turning back to face Sarah. "Which one did she go to?"

Sarah hesitated again, but this time she knew there was no point in lying. "Oxford Psychiatrist Hospital"

Andrian turned his gaze away from Sarah and spoke "Kira."

"I'm on it," Kira said immediately, already pulling out her phone. "I'll find out which doctor she had an appointment with."

Andrian nodded, then looked back at Sarah. His expression had softened slightly, but the tension in his shoulders remained. "Why didn't you tell me this from the beginning?"

Sarah looked down at her hands. "Mia told me not to mention the hospital. She said you couldn't know. I didn't understand why, but she was so insistent, and I—" She looked up at him, her eyes pleading. "I'm sorry. I should have told you right away."

"It's okay, you can go join Mia" Andrian patted her by his arm and smiled warmly. He had only done that to make sure she told him the truth he didn't mean to scare her.

Sarah was on the point of breaking down but she held herself and nodded walking towards the room.

Kira crossed her arms. "So what do you think it was?"

"I don't know. But whatever happened at that hospital today... it pushed her to the edge of that bridge." He paused and looked at Kira "And I need to know why."

A few minutes later, Kira's phone buzzed. She stepped aside to answer, her expression sharp, then ended the call after a short exchange.

"I just got the information," she said, turning back to Andrian. "She met up with Doctor Thompson. What are you going to do now?"

Andrian's jaw tightened slightly. "Let's go have a little chat with this doctor. Get me everything bad and secretive about him."

Kira gave him a wary look. "Andrian…" she said quietly, already sensing the edge in his tone. "You're not planning something reckless, are you?"

He smiled faintly, the kind of smile that made people nervous.

"Don't worry," he said, eyes glinting. "I'll be gentle."
