"Brought it." Hagrid said while pulling things out of his pocket.
He first pulled out two dormice and placed them on the counter, then a puffskein, and finally, after searching for a while, he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Found it." Hagrid held up a small golden key.
The fairy took the key, examined it carefully, and handed it back to Hagrid.
"No problem, it seems."
"I also have a letter from Professor Dumbledore." Hagrid said nonchalantly, pulling a crumpled letter from his pocket: "It's about 'that thing' in Vault 713."
Harry knew Hagrid was talking about some secret matters, but Hagrid's voice was so loud that, even if he didn't want to listen, he heard the phrase 'that thing in Vault 713.'
What was this, loud conspiracy? Harry was a bit bemused.
The fairy took Hagrid's letter, checked the magical mark on it thoroughly, and after reading it, nodded and said, "Very well, I'll have someone escort you—Ragnok!"
Accompanied by the fairy's shout, a short, formally dressed fairy appeared beside them.
"Alright, let's go." Hagrid patted Harry's shoulder, signaling him to follow: "I'll take you to get money first, then we'll handle our business."
"Hey, your animals." The fairy at the counter reminded loudly.
Only then did Hagrid remember the little animals he left on the table, and he went back to retrieve the still-dazed dormice and puffskein, stuffing them back into his large pockets before turning to follow Ragnok.
Harry and Hagrid followed Ragnok, boarded the cart, and headed towards the vault.
The cart sped along the tracks at an alarming pace, cold air rushing past, making Harry's eyes sting.
Seeing that neither Hagrid nor Ragnok paid attention to him, he conjured a small armor protection in front of his face to shield against the bitter wind.
"Hagrid, do you think we really have money at home?" Harry asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, Harry." Hagrid told Harry: "You actually worry about whether your family has money, haha, if James knew, he would—"
Before finishing the sentence, the cart screeched to a halt.
"We're here." Ragnok said in a businesslike manner.
Hagrid went forward and unlocked the vault with the key—
"Whoa..."
Harry's eyes were dazzled by the mound-high pile of gold coins inside the vault. In the depths beneath London, did he really have such a small fortune?
Unprompted, he thought of the beautiful girl with pale blond hair he encountered on the train in his first year.
The girl was full of arrogance, with the temperament of a spoiled lady, always showing off her dad to others, mocking his poverty, and delightedly trying to recruit him as a follower.
Especially during the summer of his second year...
"Oh? What are you doing here? Buying second-hand robes?"
Outside Fengya Wizard Clothing Store, Cassandra Malfoy looked at the nervous Harry with a haughty expression, raising her chin.
Harry was indifferent to the girl's mockery. Compared to the Dursley family, her speech was already quite mild.
"Yeah." Harry smiled at the blonde girl, "Are there any you've worn here?"
Upon hearing this, the girl gave him a contemptuous look with her gray eyes and turned to leave Fengya Wizard Clothing Store.
That afternoon, he received two old Slytherin robes—
"Harry, Harry?"
Harry finally snapped back to reality, looking up at Hagrid, who was grinning and saying, "See, I didn't lie to you. Your family has left you quite a fortune."
"Yeah." Indeed, Harry had never seen so much money before, wondering to himself, does this mean he's wealthier than the Malfoy family now?
"These gold coins are called Galleons, silver coins are called Sickles, and copper coins are called Knuts." Hagrid explained to Harry carefully: "Seventeen Sickles make a Galleon, and twenty-nine Knuts equal a Sickle—simple enough, right?"
While talking, Hagrid helped Harry pocket the money.
Simple enough?
No matter how many times, Harry wanted to scoff at the wizarding world's currency system.
When will the Wizarding World learn from Muggles and reform the currency system, even obstinate Dai Ying did away with the old system in 1971.
"Alright, this should be enough for two terms, the rest we'll keep safe for you." Hagrid loaded Harry's pocket with gold coins and then turned to Ragnok: "Now take us to Vault 713, but could you make the cart go slower?"
"There's only one speed." Ragnok replied in a formulaic manner.
Hagrid shrugged to Harry, indicating he's powerless.
Harry didn't mind much, as he had his mini armor protection.
The door of Vault 713 had no keyhole, Harry immediately noticed this.
"Stand back." Ragnok said solemnly, extending a long finger to tap the door, causing it to gradually vanish.
"Anyone other than a Gringotts fairy should never attempt this." Ragnok warned: "Unless you wish to be trapped inside the door, never to return—"
In such a super-secure underground vault, there must be some very precious items, Harry thought as he watched Ragnok and Hagrid enter and shortly come back out.
Almost instantly, Harry felt a strong ancient magic aura emanating from what Hagrid held.
He now somewhat regretted not following to see what it was, to see exactly what that thing was.
Within ancient magic, until age fifteen, one could only sense the magical aura, unable to use ancient magic.
But intuition told him, with that thing's help, age wouldn't be a problem.
"What is that?" Harry asked, intrigued, attempting to appear as if he were a typical eleven-year-old.
"Oh, no, Harry, I can't tell you that." Hagrid quickly replied: "It's Principal Dumbledore's task for me, to deliver it to Hogw—well, he strictly requires secrecy, so even you, I can't disclose, please forgive me."
"It's alright." Harry nodded knowingly, since it was a secret, he couldn't force Hagrid into revealing it.
After all, in his heart, the tall and kind Hagrid had already become his friend.
Hagrid's interrupted sentence, he also heard it.
Since it's destined for Hogwarts, it means that thing won't run away anytime soon; researching it after the school year begins won't be too late.
