Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Phoenix Society

The weekends at Hogwarts are like those at Muggle schools, days off.

So Harry chose to head out in the deep of night in the latter half, first to avoid his dormmates, and second to have a nice, long sleep the next day.

The Map Secret Room is located beneath Hogwarts Castle, a chamber tightly protected by ancient magic.

If it weren't for Harry and Villatia helping Richard Czech Dower fulfill his last wish, they might not have discovered this place.

And it's this unique spot that became their place for exchanging insights on ancient magic—Professor Luke Wood in the portrait always had some criticism about this.

In Professor Luke Wood's words—this sacred chamber exuded a sour stench!

Skillfully cloaking himself with the Disillusionment Charm, Harry always felt a bit awkward.

Looking down, his body was invisible, but his feet were exposed.

Little Spot, exposed...

This damned age, he silently complained in his heart; being young meant his magical strength wasn't enough to support certain spells.

Just like the magic of Apparition, the minimum age to get a license is seventeen for this reason.

Harry didn't know when the rule was set, but a century ago, one had to pass the Apparition exam enforced by the Magic Transport Department to use this magic.

Countless wizards had accidents due to unpracticed Apparition, often leaving something behind.

The fortunate ones left behind eyebrows or hair; the less fortunate left behind arms or legs—even with cases of being separated into upper and lower halves.

Luckily, Harry was using the Disillusionment Charm, and even if his magic power wasn't enough to fully function, he didn't have to worry about losing arms or legs.

Now in the latter half of the night, he didn't need to worry about being discovered.

Thus, a strange scene unfolded: a pair of feet pattering along the road, and should any night-roaming student see this, they would likely be scared to death.

Harry wasn't quite directionally challenged, and he had been to the Map Secret Room countless times; going back there felt like going home.

Following the spiral staircase to the bottom of the castle, Harry, full of hope, looked up, only to be shocked to find a wall instead of the familiar door.

"Damn it!" Harry cursed softly, remembering that this place had been reinforced with ancient magic by the two of them.

Unless one could use ancient magic, this door wouldn't be visible.

And the awakening age of ancient magic is fifteen, which meant Harry would have to wait until the fifth year to open this door and enter the Map Secret Room.

Harry did ask Villatia why ancient magic had to be used to reinforce the Map Secret Room.

To not be discovered by those coveting ancient magic like Lanlock, Villatia had explained to Harry.

But Harry always felt Villatia's real reason wasn't this, though he had no evidence.

He wandered in front of the door for a long time, unable to find a way to break the spell, and reluctantly chose to give up.

Apart from the Map Secret Room, there were two other places.

One was the earth cave accessed from below the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, and the other was the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor.

The earth cave was told to him by Sebastian, and because of this, Omnius had a fit—though he eventually accepted Harry.

The Room of Requirement was discovered in fifth grade after Villatia transferred.

He was really unwilling to go to the earth cave in the middle of the night; it always reminded him of a prison.

But since he thought of the earth cave, Harry also mused if the place where they practiced magic together back then could be utilized?

Hmm… it's better to check the Room of Requirement, and he would visit the earth cave next time.

Having made his decision, Harry made his way to the eighth floor, stopping in front of the painting of the Giant Troll Beating Foolish Banaba.

"I want the secret meeting of the Phoenix Society," Harry thought, pacing back and forth three times.

A miraculous thing happened; there was a slight noise from the wall, and a magnificent door appeared in front of Harry.

"I did it!" Harry felt a surge of joy, pushed open the door, and stepped into the Room of Requirement.

Since Harry's mind was on the meeting room of old, everything was just as he remembered it: decorations from the four houses adorned the walls, from Gryffindor to Slytherin.

In the era when Phineas Black was the principal, the unity of the four houses was beyond the imagination of people today.

House prejudice? Nonexistent, as long as you disliked Principal Black, you had common ground!

Even fellow students from Slytherin were no exception.

However, although the meeting room's arrangement remained the same, things were no longer as they were.

The friends who once left behind laughter here were now nowhere to be found.

"Dico?" Harry called out the name of the house-elf, but there was no response.

This house-elf had been assigned by Professor Weasley as his caretaker, attending to his daily needs while living at Hogwarts.

After Villatia transferred, Dico had to serve two instead of just one.

With no response, Harry removed the ill-fitting Disillusionment Charm and sat in his seat, just as he did at the gatherings a century ago.

"I think our organization should have a name," Villatia said softly, wiping the beak of Phoenix Fiona with her finger. "Harry, you're the bond that ties us together, so the name should come from you."

Harry always struggled with names but had a lightbulb moment when he saw the phoenix.

"How about we call it the Order of the Phoenix?" Harry suggested. "After all, we have a phoenix."

"What a casual name, Potter." Cassandra's gray eyes revealed a hint of disdain. "Order of the Phoenix? I almost want to vomit..."

"I think it's pretty good, right?" Sebastian said, laughing and joking, as he threw an arm around Omnius's shoulder, acknowledging Harry's naming.

Omnius lowered his head slightly, giving a small hum of agreement.

The hum wasn't directed at Harry, but at Sebastian, who had no sense of boundaries.

"Five to one." Pabi Swedding from Hufflepuff raised his hand.

"Seven to one." Gareth and Amit Saka from Ravenclaw raised their hands together.

However, Cassandra slowly said, "Voting? So childish, I never said I disagreed with the silly name Potter came up with—passed unanimously."

"Guys, I..." Harry lifted his head, only to find the long table before him empty.

"I really miss you all," he said.
