Chapter 277 - Chapter 139: How to Replenish Magic Power

"How do you know about this?" Newt asked in disbelief: "Aren't you from Austria-Hungary? Why do you know about things in the United Kingdom?"

"Because the whole of Europe considered this incident a joke..." Vivi picked up the hot cocoa cup on the table, "It's said that during the reign of George V of the United Kingdom, he was extremely obsessed with everything French—of course, that included French cuisine—and decided to have the royal menu officially written in French. Thus, the imperial ministers followed suit, and it became a British convention afterward."

Vivi wasn't lying. Since 1880, the imperial family almost all switched to writing menus in French. That means, since 1880, every past royal banquet's menu was written in French by the British Royal Family.

In fact, the British Royal Family is the heir of the French Normandy Royal Family; French was once the language of the British upper class, and at the time, speaking authentic French indicated one had received a fine noble education.

Of course, it wasn't just the United Kingdom; many European countries were like this. For example, in Tsarist Russia—if you've read "War and Peace," you'll find that the dialogues between nobles there contain extensive French.

The menu for Queen Victoria in 1899 had only the last column in English for the buffet.

(The menu for the Queen's coronation in 1953)

"I feel a bit suffocated." Theseus tugged at his collar, "My goodness, it's clearly the Muggle world, but why do I also feel so embarrassed?"

"You'll get used to it in the culinary world," Mr. Leme said with a hint of mockery in his tone: "British cuisine? Even dogs wouldn't eat it..."

"At least our British breakfast is still quite delicious!" Harry retorted.

Mr. Leme scoffed, this was typical friction between the French and the English people.

"But British cuisine isn't good, I need to remind you that your British king, Henry I, during his tour in Normandy, ignored the doctor's advice and consumed a large amount of stewed lamprey, eventually dying of indigestion on the toilet!"

Harry took a deep breath.

He picked up a napkin from the side, wet a fork, stuck the napkin onto the fork, and waved it around like a white flag.

"Alright, I ~ sur ~ render ~"

Mr. Leme suddenly fell silent, glaring at Harry.

"What does that mean?" Vivi curiously asked, looking at the white flag Harry made.

It seemed Newt and Theseus also didn't know, only Tina sat there laughing heartily.

Harry then explained to those unfamiliar with the Muggle world the story of World War II, especially how the art student quickly conquered France.

Only then did Newt and Theseus realize what it meant—they hadn't caught on earlier.

"It held out for less time than a Russian building." Harry critiqued sharply at the end.

Mr. Leme stood up and dashed out of the dining room.

Seeing Mr. Leme storm off in anger, Harry chuckled with wicked satisfaction. He took two bites of the emperor pancake and suddenly found the taste very familiar.

"Actually, I think it tastes a bit like rock cake." Harry began to critique, "By the way, Hagrid is the keeper of the game reserve, Vivi. I'm planning to recommend him as Professor Scamander's assistant—he's really nice to me, a very interesting big friend, and when we get back to Hogwarts, I'll introduce him to you."

"Alright." Vivi nodded lightly, holding her cup, "But... rock cake? The name sounds a bit scary."

"How should I put it, it's very hard, just like its name..." Harry recalled the hardness when he first bit into a rock cake, and shivered a bit, "but if you soak it in water or hot milk to soften it, it's really quite good, it tastes like this emperor pancake, really quite nice."

"The Hagrid you mentioned, I'm quite familiar with him." Newt smiled happily: "If he can become my assistant, I would be very pleased, and it would save me a lot of trouble."

"By the way, Vivi." Harry looked at Vivi and asked, "Do you have any plans for the coming days?"

"Me?" Vivi lifted her head, thought for a moment, and smiled playfully as she said, "Of course I'm going back to Hogwarts with you, how could you forget? I'm just a student who has just finished fifth year, passed O.W.L.s, but hasn't yet passed N.E.W.T.s, I definitely have to complete seventh year."

"With your level of magic, you wouldn't need to attend school at Hogwarts, Miss Grindelwald?"

Theseus suddenly spoke, he also felt he should do something for his aunt.

"I suggest you should join the Ministry of Magic, maybe becoming an Auror would suit you better."

"You want a dark wizard's sister to catch dark wizards?" Vivi asked with a smile: "Aren't you afraid she'd collude with the dark wizards?"

Theseus was momentarily speechless.

"I still stand by my point." Theseus didn't want to give up: "You truly are a born Auror, this is the job you should be doing."

"But I don't have magic power now, I need to borrow some from Harry, right?"

Vivi reached out to gently muss Harry's messy hair, the latter squinting his eyes in apparent enjoyment of his big sister's touch.

She had figured out Harry's nature; the boy in front of her had lost his mother at a young age, and he was a typical child yearning for maternal love—for such a child, it's best to give him maximum tolerance and indulgence to earn his dependence, so he would never want to part.

As for Cassandra's method? Haha, I wish her single all her life.
