Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Entering the Dungeon Again

Su Mo slightly furrowed his brows, there are still 6 and a half days until the high school entrance exam.

With your current strength, you can already reach the Silver Tier. A few more dungeon runs, and the top spot will be yours for the taking.

But this situation only applies to you, what about everyone else?

Is the so-called fairest entrance exam really fair?

Old Wang chuckled lightly: "Are you thinking that this method of examination is unfair to other students?"

Su Mo nodded without speaking.

"From the moment you participate in the entrance exam, you have already stepped into society, and society has never been fair.

Aren't you curious why you only awaken before the entrance exam and why the top student every year is at Silver Tier?

Surely you don't really think someone can level from 1 to over 40 in just 10 days."

Su Mo knitted his brows: "If that's the case, then why are we participating in these exams, just to be stepping stones for those people?"

"No, no, you're overthinking it. There are actually two rankings for the high school exam: one for the nation and even the world to see, and another for regular exam scores.

Between these two lists, schools actually prefer choosing from the second because they are untouched gems.

But my requirement for you is to break into the national ranking and become a truly undisputed national top scorer. Are you confident?"

Su Mo nodded, leaving his Guan Saber behind as he left the office under the tales of the two Old Wang.

After Su Mo left, Wang Defa couldn't hold back any longer and said: "Do you really think he can become the national top scorer, after all these years?"

"I think he has the potential and the strength. Being able to injure Silver Tier at level three, if he grabs a few more national titles, it's not impossible."

"The last time someone became the national top scorer as an ordinary student was 50 years ago with the White War God, right?"

"Yes, maybe he is the next White War God!"

......

After leaving the office, Su Mo went straight out of the school, bought some groceries with the remaining money he had, and returned home.

He glanced around as he opened the door but didn't see his sister's figure. He put the groceries on the table and went to his room.

When Su Mo was 12, his parents unfortunately went missing while participating in dungeon development.

Over the years, he had long guessed the fate of his parents.

In fact, you could say that Su Mo was raised by his sister since he was young.

Unfortunately, his sister wasn't an Awakened, so she stayed around to take care of Su Mo's life and daily needs.

However, in a world filled with Awakened, survival for ordinary people is incredibly difficult, so Su Mo's family is very frugal.

Luckily, there's no fee for studying and they provide three meals a day. So daily, Su Mo won't add any burden to the family.

In his room, Su Mo was contemplating how to quickly improve his level.

Each time he enters the Goblin Dungeon, there's a 12-hour cooldown period.

If he wants to level up quickly or grind for attribute points, he must find other dungeons.

But each dungeon in the city's Dungeon Hall requires a hefty entry fee.

Given Su Mo's family's financial situation, they can't afford it unless he sells his two dungeon rewards.

But those two items were already taken by Wang.

If he doesn't have money, he can't enter dungeons. The school's dungeons can only be entered once every 12 hours.

Even if he enters a dungeon every day afterward, by the time the exams start, he'll only be at level 10 at most.

And because the experience required increases as he levels up, he might not even reach level 10.

Although he still has the confidence to become this year's top scorer, isn't this just wasting time?

Thinking of this, he looked out the window.

Maybe he could try going outside the city to do those field dungeons.

But the minimum level to leave the city is 5, or accompanied by someone at level 7.

Su Mo shook his head thinking that after getting the weapon from Wang, he should level up to five quickly and head out of the city to find field dungeons!

As the door opened, a gentle-faced woman of about twenty-five or six spoke to Su Mo:

"Mo, why are you back again today? Ran out of money again? Tell me, how much do you need?"

Su Mo shook his head: "No problem, I just missed my sister a bit, so I came back to see you."

"You always say the sweetest things. Alright, wait a moment, I'll cook something!"

Watching Su Yu's departing figure, Su Mo's heart gradually calmed down.

This is his only family, seeing her is the only thing that can bring peace to his heart.

Not long after, looking at the lavish dinner spread on the table and his slightly exhausted sister, Su Mo felt a bit guilty inside.

That night, they talked about many things, about the future, about the Awakened, about college, and even about Su Mo finding a girlfriend soon.

...

The next morning, Su Mo went to Old Wang's office early and received his weapon.

It was still a Guan Saber, but it was different from before.

The original Guan Saber was made of plain iron, without any fancy decorations, apart from a patch of white on the blade, it was all black.

But now, the Guan Saber had utterly transformed.

A golden dragon spiraled around the black hilt, and the nearly 40 cm long blade glistened with a cold, sharp light.

At the connection between the hilt and blade, a red tassel fluttered in the wind.

Runes shimmered on the back of the blade, adding a touch of mystery to the already imposing saber.

With just one look, Su Mo was deeply captivated by this Guan Saber.

Wang Defa looked at Su Mo proudly: "How is it, kid? Not bad, right? Isn't it way better than that piece of scrap metal you had before?"

Su Mo nodded and spoke up: "Thank you, Wang."

"Stop with the nonsense. Try and see if you can lift it."

Su Mo gripped the hilt and with a fierce effort, slowly lifted the Guan Saber.

This hefty feeling filled Su Mo with immense joy.

With this thing in hand, he feels confident enough to cleave through the King of Goblins with a single slash!

If that Silver Tier in the Trial Hall dared to attack him again, he felt he could render it immobile with one stroke.

After thanking Wang Dehua, Su Mo took the great saber and headed once more to the Trial Hall.

Everyone who saw Su Mo along the way couldn't help but turn their heads.

Which man wouldn't want to own such a magnificent weapon?

Although not everyone knew about Su Mo's solo run through the Goblin Dungeon, most of the Awakened were aware.

Even if you didn't know what he looked like, you knew he wielded a great Guan Saber.

Amidst countless envious and admiring gazes, Su Mo returned to the Trial Hall.

Upon seeing Su Mo's arrival, Zhang Chen, who had previously attacked Su Mo, glared coldly at him, then turned away.

Su Mo ignored these things. Just a Silver Tier, by the time he returns from the dungeon, Zhang Chen might not even be a match for him.

With that thought, he directly activated the dungeon and stepped inside.
