Chapter 18 - Chapter 17: Why Don't You Go?

At one o'clock in the morning, Zhu Dajun was sleeping soundly.

He turned over, feeling something furry and wet in his hand.

Zhu Dajun immediately woke up, his eyes opening instantly, swiftly reaching under the pillow for his gun.

After scanning the room and confirming there was no danger, he looked beside him.

Two gutted guard dogs lay next to him, their blood staining the sheets and his pajamas.

A chill ran from the soles of his feet to his head.

He slowly got out of bed, cautiously walking out of the bedroom with the gun in hand.

Zhu Dajun's eyes widened with horror.

The hallway was littered with bodies of men in black, blood stained the floor, dripping down the stairs to the first floor.

He felt like he had walked onto the set of a horror movie.

Someone had killed dozens of men with blood on their hands, stuffed two dog carcasses into his bed, and yet he had been sleeping like a log!

Keep in mind, Zhu Dajun had climbed from the very bottom to his current position.

Over the years, with constant danger, he had developed eyes at the back of his head.

No matter how drunk he was, the slightest sound would make him instantly alert.

But today, had he seen a ghost?!

Footsteps came from downstairs, Zhu Dajun tensed, clutching the gun, eyes fixed on the staircase landing.

It was Mad Wolf, his second-in-command.

Mad Wolf looked at the scene in terror, speechless in the face of Zhu Dajun.

Despite having witnessed countless gruesome scenes, today's incident was one he would never forget.

Zhu Dajun said nothing and walked downstairs.

A row of words on the wall made his face even gloomier.

"Zhu Dajun, hand over all your assets, mourn for my son for ten years, and I'll spare your life."

Writing such a bold statement showed the opponent had absolute confidence.

Tonight's events were just a warning.

Zhu Dajun walked towards the door.

Mad Wolf quickly ran out and started the car.

Once Zhu Dajun got in, Mad Wolf asked:

"Boss, are we heading to Hongluo Bay?"

Zhu Dajun replied expressionlessly:

"To a pharmacy in the North District."

Mad Wolf didn't ask why; whatever his boss said or did, there was always a reason.

Throughout the journey, both were on edge, extremely alert.

To kill so many silently, they couldn't discern what the killer was like.

They even doubted if the killer was still human.

Finally, they arrived at the pharmacy.

The pharmacy was closed.

Mad Wolf said:

"Brother, should we find a place to stay?"

Zhu Dajun tightened his coat:

"Wait."

Mad Wolf surveyed the pharmacy, noting it seemed like a normal shop, then asked:

"Does this pharmacy have someone who can help us? It doesn't seem like it."

Zhu Dajun closed his eyes, resting:

"Instinct."

Mad Wolf shut his mouth.

His boss's instincts were as sharp as a beast's; listening to him was always right.

.....

In the morning, Li Yang was walking Xiaohai towards the pharmacy.

As Li Yang opened the pharmacy door, Zhu Dajun immediately jumped down, grinning:

"Morning, Master! Walking the dog?"

His tone was obsequious, yet calm and composed.

Just like a student flattering a teacher, showing no signs of tension from last night's crisis.

Li Yang gave him a slight glance, entered the door, and picked up a book from the counter.

Zhu Dajun rubbed his hands, smiling:

"Was the master upset yesterday?"

"Old Zhu apologizes to you!"

Li Yang, flipping through the book, asked:

"Have you thought it through?"

Zhu Dajun nodded solemnly:

"I've decided to trust my great-grandmother and you, Master."

Li Yang continued asking:

"Which option do you choose?"

The first, offering a hundred million plus whatever desire you have, grants protection for a week.

The second, handing over the Emperor Nightclub, submitting to Li Yang, who will protect him for life.

Zhu Dajun scratched his head and said:

"I don't want to be anyone's subordinate right now, so I won't choose the second option for now.

I choose the first option, I'll put up a hundred million.

But the desire you mentioned, I really don't know what that means."

This was Zhu Dajun's character, he could lower his pride to anyone.

But never mistake him for being easygoing.

People like him often bite harder.

Li Yang said:

"No worries, take your time."

Li Yang intended to get both the one hundred million and the Emperor Nightclub, while taking in Zhu Dajun as a follower.

Zhu Dajun was straightforward, directly asking Li Yang for a bank card number.

He had enough time in a week to think of a strategy.

The master Zhou Qing could call upon, he could find a way to deal with too.

As long as this master was reliable and could truly protect him for a week.

Zhu Dajun cupped his hands towards Li Yang, smiling:

"A hundred million is no small sum, it'll take at least three days, could I get it on credit for now?"

Li Yang waved to Xiaohai.

Xiaohai immediately wagged its tail and came over.

Li Yang said:

"Take it home, put it at the door or inside, and you won't have any problems for a week."

Zhu Dajun's smile froze:

"Master, are you saying this dog will protect me?"

Li Yang nodded:

"Remember, no one can be around you for this week, including the one in your car."

After speaking, he ignored Zhu Dajun, focusing on his book.

At that moment, Zhu Dajun felt a twinge in his heel teeth.

Spending a hundred million, only to get a big black dog to watch over him for a week?

Zhu Dajun silently took Xiaohai and walked out of the pharmacy.

If the master dared to say it, he dared to believe it; after all, the money was already spent.

Li Yang watched Zhu Dajun's retreating figure, chuckling subtly:

"What an interesting person."

.....

At night, in a villa in the South Sea.

Zhu Dajun, indeed, followed through, having no one around him for a week, including Mad Wolf.

The villa was empty, without a single person.

Zhu Dajun sat beside Xiaohai with a dog toy ball:

"Old Zhu has entrusted my entire life to you, not a single hand in the villa.

If an assassin from the opposing side comes, I'll probably die quite wretchedly."

Saying this, Zhu Dajun waved the dog toy ball in front of Xiaohai, then tossed it away:

"Go, fetch it back."

With nothing better to do, teasing the dog eased his anxiety a bit.

Xiaohai eagerly ran over, picked up the dog toy ball, waved it in front of Zhu Dajun, and then tossed it away too.

It stared at Zhu Dajun, nodding towards the distant dog toy ball, as if saying, "Now it's your turn to fetch it."

Zhu Dajun's mouth twitched for quite a while:

"This dog is really damn human-like!"

He suddenly came to, seriously looking at Xiaohai:

"So human-like, maybe you really have some capability."

Suddenly, Zhu Dajun grew wary, taking a gun from his pocket.

At some point, a person appeared at the staircase landing.

The person was bald, dressed in all white, speaking in broken Mandarin:

"It's impressive, President Zhu; leaving only a dog by your side."

Zhu Dajun:

"Who are you?"

Before the words were fully spoken, as the person was about to answer, Zhu Dajun fired.

He thought his ways could easily handle this foreigner of unknown nationality.

But then, a shocking scene occurred.

The bald man's head quickly tilted, the bullet whizzed past his ear, embedding in the wall.

The bald man grimaced:

"You really are as shameless as they say."

Zhu Dajun squinted at the bald man:

"Are you the one who killed my men?

You think I, Master Zhu, have no backup today?"

Zhu Dajun crossed his arms, his boss's demeanor unmistakable, calmly saying:

"Xiaohai, it's your showtime, go!"

Xiaohai looked at Zhu Dajun dissatisfied, as if saying, why don't you go?

Zhu Dajun was dumbfounded.

This dog, you really are damn human-like!

Have I wasted a hundred million in vain?

The bald man chuckled:

"Trying to be mysterious? That's boring."
