Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Embracing Death to Survive, Cat and Mouse Game

Feeling the confused gaze of the two, Zhou Yuan explained, "I still heard about this from my uncle. Do you know about the Talented Martial Artists among humans?"

The two nodded upon hearing this.

"Aliens are different from us humans. Their race values bloodlines, and these Bloodline Aliens are equivalent to Talented Martial Artists among humans, even stronger."

"Bloodlines grant aliens comprehensive enhancement, especially in terms of Qi and Blood, so Bloodline Aliens usually have a special situation where their Qi and Blood surpass their own Martial Artist Level."

This was the first time Su Mu had heard of Bloodline Aliens. He knew little about aliens.

Just imagining them as Fifth Level Talented Martial Artists, Su Mu felt tremendous pressure, because he himself was a Talented Martial Artist, familiar with the power of talent.

"What do the aliens intend to do? Is this not a miniature battlefield?" The Little One couldn't help but ask.

Zhou Yuan also shook his head with a look of confusion.

"I don't know. This place is indeed a miniature battlefield, with the highest resource point being just Fourth Level resources. Usually, each main camp only has one Fifth Level Martial Artist stationed, and the three Fifth Level Martial Artists were dispatched because of recent changes in the Alien Race Battlefield."

"On an alien battlefield, only those strong enough to exceed the resource level by one level are stationed, and they won't easily make a move. This is almost an unspoken agreement between both sides."

"Otherwise, the result is only one: low-tier Martial Artists on both sides will be slaughtered by the strong."

"But those damned aliens, those bastards tore up the agreement taking advantage of the Space Portal Anomaly!"

Zhou Yuan cursed, while Su Mu fell into contemplation.

From Zhou Yuan's words, it was not hard to see that the alien side seemed to have anticipated the battlefield anomaly early on; this was a premeditated action.

Was it just for slaughter?

Su Mu was a small figure, lacked much information, and since he couldn't understand, decided not to think about it, and started pondering how to survive.

"Can those outside promptly detect the Space Portal Anomaly?" Su Mu looked at Zhou Yuan.

"Certainly able."

"How long does it take to repair the Space Portal?" Su Mu's eyes gleamed.

"I only know that ordinary Inscription Masters do not have the ability to repair Space Portals, I'm not sure about other things."

Zhou Yuan shook his head, the Little One added a sentence.

"The national martial arts exam is about to take place. The Space Portal Anomaly constitutes an unstable factor, so I think someone will soon come to repair it."

Su Mu heard this and thought it made sense, and at the university there was Elder Wang, a half-step Grandmaster-level Rune Master; perhaps the time needed to repair the portal would be shorter.

So, the current situation became very clear.

It now turned into a desperate survival cat-and-mouse game, where the aliens were a giant cat with crushing strength, and they were merely harmless mice.

The only way for their side to win was to flee everywhere and then hold on until reinforcements arrive.

But can they hold on until then?

"Everyone should stay alert, as long as we hold on, we will surely be rescued. The Space Portal might soon be repaired, people outside might come in at any time."

"Now everyone is a comrade. Let me introduce myself first, you can call me the Little One, my strength is at First Level Initial Stage, and I am also a First Level Alchemist."

At this moment, the Little One was both cheering for the group and for herself, afraid she would lose all fighting spirit.

"Zhou Yuan, Shenjiang Martial Arts University tutor, Third Level Middle Stage, specializes in speed."

"Su Mu, Shenjiang Martial Arts University tutor, Third Level Peak, specializes in strength."

As soon as the words were out, both Zhou Yuan and the Little One glanced over sharply, a look of disbelief.

"Uncle Wolf, you killed a Fourth Level Alien with two moves, and you're not Fourth Level… but Third Level Peak?" The Little One couldn't help but ask.

"Only by luck."

Zhou Yuan showed shock, while the Little One might not be clear on the difference between Third Level and Fourth Level Martial Artists, but as a tutor at the Practical Combat Academy, how could he not know?

Below Third Level are low-tier Martial Artists, and Fourth Level are middle-tier Martial Artists. The gap is akin to that between a young boy of eleven or twelve and a strong man.

How could he not know the Practical Martial Arts School had recruited such a fierce person?

Zhou Yuan subconsciously assumed Su Mu was from the Practical Combat Academy, as Shenjiang Martial Arts University is a bottom-tier school, only the Practical Academy tutors were stronger.

"Uncle Wolf, whatever you plan, I'll go along with it."

"I'll follow your lead too."

"The most dangerous place is also the safest; I think the aliens won't dare remain at the main camp, they'll certainly worry the Space Portal might soon be completely repaired."

"So, I plan to cross the Little Maple Forest, then circle back through the Yellow Sand Canyon to the main camp, waiting for the opportunity."

The Little One knew Uncle Wolf was very cautious during their contacts this period, but it was this caution that saved them. Otherwise, last time when aliens baited with the War Order, if it were her she would have foolishly walked right into it.

Because of this, the Little One was stunned by Su Mu's nearly reckless and bold plan.

"To live through death, although this plan is a bit risky, I think it's feasible." Zhou Yuan's eyes light up, his breathing somewhat rapid.

Soon, Su Mu took out the elixirs from the Space Ring inside his backpack.

"You all take some."

"Is this the Third Level Blood Sinking Pill? This one pill is enough to match a bottle of ordinary Qi Blood Pill."

"There's also the Third Level Blood Returning Pill, with this Blood Returning Pill, my injuries can heal quickly!"

Turns out these are enhanced Qi Blood Pills and Healing Medicine, Su Mu silently noted the effects of these two elixirs.

"Su Mu, if fortunately we can get out alive, you'll be my savior, Zhou Yuan. If you need anything in the future, just find me. I'll only take one of each elixir."

"Uncle Wolf, I'm of no use, you're the strongest among us. I won't take the elixirs."

Su Mu didn't hold back. At the moment, they were betting it all; these things may not have a chance to be used later if not used now. He gave both types of elixirs to two people, three pills each, and then took out several bottles of First Level Qi Blood Pills and Healing Medicine and shared them with the two.

The medicinal effects of the Third Level Blood Returning Pill were astounding, as the somewhat languished Zhou Yuan swallowed two and regained his color.

...

"Tucha was such a waste, actually dying at the hands of vile humans," grunted a tall, bald alien brute carrying a warhammer.

None of the original Map Investigation Team members were irked at this comment, all felt it was correct; aliens revered strength more than humans.

Yida, despite being a newly ascended Fifth Level Alien, was well qualified to reprimand a dead Fourth Level Alien.

"That waste is dead, but he even lost the Blood Fang Ring, I have to clean up after him."

"Yet these lowly humans truly do not know what's good for them, daring to taint my race's belongings!"

After swearing a few words, Yida activated the Blood Fang Ring in his hand using a secret technique from the race, and a bloodline floated up, pointing in a certain direction.

"I'll go first, you all catch up!"

The brute fixed the warhammer strapped behind him, and after taking several steps, suddenly leapt onto four limbs and began pursuing in the direction of the bloodline at astonishing speed.

Among the group, the Little One was the first to notice the anomaly in the War Order.

"Uncle Wolf, look quickly!"

A light spot appeared on the Human Race's War Order; Su Mu took out the Alien Race Battle Order and saw the same red light emerge, quickly closing the distance.

Su Mu frowned. The alien behind seemed to come too quickly; it seemed unreasonable, as if they knew the exact location of their group.

Furthermore, after just killing a Fourth Level Alien, the other side dared to pursue us alone."

The one behind is likely a Fifth Level Alien."

Could it be the monster Zhou Yuan spoke of?

A sinking feeling arose in Su Mu's heart. At this time, Zhou Yuan gritted his teeth, "Give me all your Battle Orders, and we'll act separately. I'm good at speed, I'll draw him away…then meet at Yellow Sand Canyon."

Is it due to the Alien Race Battle Order? Su Mu fell silent for a second, understanding Zhou Yuan's intent, and reached out to pat Zhou Yuan's shoulder.

"Brother, take care."

Zhou Yuan accepted the token and sprinted in the opposite direction of Yellow Sand Canyon.

"Uncle Wolf, Zhou Yuan he..."

"Go, let's not let Zhou Yuan die in vain..." Su Mu's words weren't finished, the Little One's nose twitched, she took one last look at Zhou Yuan's silhouette, then dashed towards Yellow Sand Canyon at full speed.

Both knew Zhou Yuan was headed to his death.

Yet Zhou Yuan, embracing certain death, soon realized something was amiss. The Alien Race Battle Order in his hand showed the pursuers hadn't followed but instead bizarrely headed towards Yellow Sand Canyon.

"Impossible, what exactly is happening?"

Zhou Yuan was anxious, sprinting back, but then saw five red markers suddenly emerging on the Battle Order now closing in on him.

It was too late to dash to Yellow Sand Canyon now, also if drawing aliens toward the canyon, Su Mu had no chance left.

With this thought, Zhou Yuan could only pray for Su Mu and the Little One as he swiftly swallowed a Qi Blood Pill and resolutely kept running.

Yet, could Su Mu at merely Third Level Peak truly survive the chase by a Fifth Level Alien?

Despair hung over Zhou Yuan's heart.
