Chapter 4 - Chapter 03: Heavenly Grade Spiritual Roots

Whoosh!!

A golden light then shot high into the sky.

"T-this is... a Heavenly Spiritual Root!" Elder Mo and the other sect disciples were utterly astonished.

Lin Fan, who had been sad until now, smiled after seeing his sister's immense talent.

But in an instant, the sky above them changed. The wind stopped, and the people around Lin Fan froze in place.

Lin Fan, realizing this, looked around him.

"What's happening?!" Lin Fan looked up at the sky.

Suddenly, a gigantic eye covered the sky, and it stared directly at Lin Xue.

"W-what is that thing?!" Lin Fan was terrified, his body trembling as he looked at Lin Xue, who was also frozen.

"Why is everyone frozen??!" Lin Fan grew more and more confused.

"Finally, after tens of thousands of years, I have found you," a voice emanated from the sky above.

Hearing this, Lin Fan knew immediately that his sister was being watched by someone.

Lin Fan then ran towards his sister, positioning himself squarely in front of Lin Xue. Though afraid, he glared sharply at the giant eye.

"You can escape my time suspension?" The eye was bewildered by Lin Fan's figure. He had no cultivation, yet he could break free from its technique.

"Interesting! Hahahaha!" The creature's laughter echoed, causing Lin Fan's body to shake.

"Curse it! If the Heavenly Laws weren't restraining me, I would take that child right now!" said the Eye, feeling pressured by the Heavenly Laws.

Lin Fan stared towards where the eye was, and he perceived a creature sitting on a massive stone throne, its body covered in chains that bound it.

Slowly, the eye disappeared, but before vanishing completely, it spoke once more. "Take good care of that child! Hahahaha!" The eye then vanished completely.

As soon as the eye disappeared, time resumed its normal flow.

"Brother, how did you suddenly get here? And why is your face so pale?" asked Lin Xue, utterly confused by her brother's sudden appearance beside her.

Elder Mo, who heard this, was also puzzled.

Lin Fan just smiled at Lin Xue and didn't answer. He stepped down from the platform, his face covered in sweat.

"W-what kind of entity was that?... " Lin Fan muttered to himself, unable to stop thinking about the existence that was targeting his sister.

Lin Fan clenched his fists, determined to become an immortal.

He then turned around and climbed back onto the platform.

"Please accept me as a disciple of the Yuan Sect!" Lin Fan bowed deeply. He wouldn't do this if it weren't for the need to become strong.

Lin Xue, seeing her brother having to bow so low, felt sad and wanted to persuade the Yuan Sect members, but she saw Elder Mo smiling, which was a good sign for her brother.

Elder Mo smiled again. Fortunately, this boy still had determination.

"The Yuan Sect has one more test, but it is specifically for those with Pseudo Spiritual Roots," he said calmly.

Lin Fan stood up and grinned widely. "Whatever it is, I will do it to become an immortal."

Lin Xue, seeing her brother regaining his spirit, was happy for him. "Congratulations, Brother!"

Fu Ji, watching this, snorted in displeasure, but he didn't dare do anything.

"Very well. Lin Xue, you will become a core disciple of the Yuan Sect. The other three will become outer disciples. As for Lin Fan, he will take the entry test again," announced Elder Mo before stepping down from the platform and heading towards his crane.

"In three days, we will come to pick you up." The crane then shot swiftly into the sky, leaving Qinhe Village behind.

The people who had previously scorned the Lin family now began treating them kindly because of Lin Xue's status.

"Let's go home," said Hu Mei with a warm smile on her face, paying no mind to the people trying to talk to her.

The three of them left the crowd and returned home.

In a place very far away, in several different locations, powerful individuals opened their eyes. "Finally, a Heavenly Spiritual Root has appeared again."

"I hope he will be present at the gathering three years from now," said an elder before closing his eyes again.

...

Upon arriving home, the three of them saw their father, who had just returned from fishing.

"Where have you all been?" asked Lin Wei, putting down his net.

"Where have you been? We just met an Immortal Lord," said Hu Mei.

"Immortal Lord? You're joking, right?" Lin Wei, of course, didn't believe in the existence of immortals.

"Mom isn't lying, Dad! I was even accepted as a core disciple of the Yuan Sect, and Big Brother will take another test!" said Lin Xue, boasting about her achievement.

"I won't believe it until I see it with my own eyes," Lin Wei replied, still unconvinced.

"Fine, Dad, just wait. In three days, they will come to our village to pick us up," said Lin Xue, annoyed.

"Alright, alright, no need to argue," Lin Fan mediated between Lin Xue and their father.

...

The next day, as the sun was just beginning to show itself, Lin Fan was already drenched in sweat.

Since dawn, he had been running around the forest near his village to train his body.

Two days later, Lin Fan had just finished his routine again, his body covered in sweat.

"Today, Elder Mo will come to pick us up. I will pass," declared Lin Fan.

Soon after, the five of them were ready to depart.

Whoosh!

A massive crane emerged from within the clouds.

"W-what is this?!" Lin Wei was utterly shocked; he had never seen a crane this large.

"Now do you believe me?" asked Hu Mei with a smile.

"Of course I believe you!"

Slowly but surely, the crane landed in front of Qinhe Village's entrance.

"Greetings, Immortal Lords!" They all bowed respectfully.

"No need for that. We are only here to pick them up," said Elder Mo, then used his energy to lift them onto the crane's back.

"Dad, Mom, take care of your health. We will return once we have become immortals," said Lin Fan, a few tears falling.

"Alright, don't disappoint us," said Hu Mei, her tears starting to fall as well. Lin Wei just remained silent. He couldn't believe both his children were leaving like this.

"Alright, let's depart." The crane slowly took flight and then shot forward with great speed.

"Be careful on your journey!" Lin Fan and Lin Xue watched their parents waving goodbye.

"No more crying now," Lin Fan patted Lin Xue's head.

Lin Xue just stayed quiet, wiping the tear stains from her face.

"Tch, trash," said Fu Ji, looking at Lin Fan.

"What did you say!?" Lin Xue stood up, angry after hearing Fu Ji's words.

Fu Ji, seeing Lin Xue's anger, was naturally frightened, as Lin Xue was a core disciple of the Yuan Sect, a status far higher than his.

"Enough, Xue'er," Lin Fan calmed Lin Xue down. It wasn't the time to silence Fu Ji yet.

"Alright, everyone, we will arrive in a few weeks, so prepare yourselves," said Yu Ding, one of the disciples Elder Mo had brought along.
