Chapter 337 - Chapter 337: Homecoming and Opening Dinner

On the Hogwarts Express , Harryhelda thickbook of magic , reading it while simultaneously taking notes with a rapid-pressure pen.

Hermione was alsoreciting her History of Magic textbook; in fact, she wanted to participate in an early interview assessment for the course to ease the pressure of her studies this year.

Ron was getting a little bored of being alone. He was holding Krum . He had bought a magic figure, but he soon got tired of playing with it.

"That's enough, both of you! School hasn't even started yet, you don't need to be this tired. Come on, let's chat a bit."

Ron whispered softly, " Harry , what book are you reading? You look very sad. Tell us about it; perhaps even Hermione can help you."

Harry looked up from the book and replied distractedly, "I'm learning about Mind Locking , but the content is really complex and difficult to understand, which makes it hard to read."

Mind Locking ?

Hermione put down her History of Magic textbookand asked in surprise, "I read in a book that this is a very deep spell . Why are you learning it?"

"This is mainly about my scar." Harry paused for a moment and realized he hadn't yet mentioned his scar to his two friends.

He then sat up and told Ron and Hermione about the pain in his wound and his dreams about Lord Voldemort .

" Professor Swan said that the Mind-Lock spell could effectively counter Lord Voldemort's attack on my brain , so he'll formally teach me the spell after school starts ."

"I thought things would be easier if I started studying on my own a bit beforehand."

"That's so cool, man," said Ron , his face beaming with excitement, "You can actually see what 'You-Know-Who' sees ."

" Could you speak with Professor Swan and ask him to find a way to prevent you from completely blocking your connection with the person known to be acting under your name , so that you can unilaterally track that person ?"

" Ron !" Hermione frowned and lightly tapped him with her textbook. "This isn't a joke. This is the person whose name you're going to mention ; we can't give him any chance."

"Remember, someone at Quidditch Camp released the Dark Mark , which means their subordinates have been reactivated."

"Alright, alright," said Ron , avoiding Hermione's book and grumbling, "I was just joking, trying to lighten the mood a bit."

" I don't know who spread the Dark Mark . My father said the Ministry of Magic doesn't have any news yet."

As they were talking, the snack cart passed in front of their compartments. Harry put his magic book down and stood up to go outside the compartment.

After a while, he returned to the compartment with a pile of snacks, placed them on the small table, and waved to Hermione and Ron, gesturing for them to take whatever they wanted.

Ron opened a box of Chocolate Frog without hesitation: " Harry , whydidn't you invite Cho Chang in? Shall I call her for you?"

"Cough, cough," Harry's face flushed and he coughed lightly twice, "Why did you call Cho Chang ? We don't even know him."

"Ah—" Ron dragged out , "Your eyes were fixed on him the whole time. I thought you wanted to be friends with him."

"I didn't do it, I'm not doing it, stop talking nonsense!" Harry vehemently denied it, waving his hands repeatedly.

"Hurry up and eat your chocolate. You've eaten so much you can't even close your mouth."

Ron bit off the chocolate frog's head and muttered incomprehensibly, "You can fool your friends with that, but don't fool yourself."

Hermione, inwardly mourning for her little sister Ginny , shook her head as she looked at Harry , whose face was as red as an apple .

As we talked, evening darkness slowly descended. Outside the window, the wind and rain were blowing fiercely, raindrops beating against the glass like countless tiny drums, and this was audible with remarkable clarity inside the cabin.

The Hogwarts Express gradually slowed down and finally came to a complete stop at Hogsmeade station.

The train doors opened, and a cold wind instantly rushed in, bringing with it the damp, chilly smell of rain.

Harry , Ron , and Hermione stood in the doorway, squinting as they looked outside.

The wind carried heavy raindrops, hitting their faces and causing them to involuntarily tilt their necks back.

Harry pulled out his magic wand, skillfully cast a Waterproof Charm on his clothes, then raised his shapeshifting umbrella and stepped into the rain.

Ron muttered to himself, "The first-year Little Wizards aregoing to have a hard time crossing the Black Lake in such strong winds and rain."

Although traveling in the rain wasn't pleasant, the students' enthusiasm remained unaffected by the storm.

Moreover, as soon as they passed through the doors of the Great Hall , the Professors had already used drying spells to remove all moisture and cold from their bodies.

The students, led by the assistant principals, took their seats at their long tables in an orderly fashion; meanwhile, ghosts hovering in the air greeted them enthusiastically, welcoming them to the start of the new term.

" There are no new faces at the professor's desk . Does this mean the Defense Against the Dark Arts class will no longer be held? Who is this year's professor ?"

"Or…" Ron speculated excitedly , " could one of the professors here tonight be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts ?" "Who will be this year's professor ?"

" It would be wonderful if Professor Swan taught this course ."

As soon as she spoke, Harry glanced at her out of the corner of his eye .

Good heavens, you must have a grudge against Professor Swan to suggest he teach Defense Against the Dark Arts .

"Give it up, Ron ," Harry chuckled , " Professor Swan said he absolutely won't touch Defence Against Dark Arts until the curse is lifted ."

"So, who will it be? Could it be Professor Snape ?"

" Ron , that's enough..."

While they were talking, Professor McGonagall had already led the first-year students into the Great Hall , and the Sorting Hat ceremony had begun.

One young boy , Dennis Creevey , was so excited that he ran towards the Gryffindor table with the Sorting Hat still on his head , which caused everyone to burst into laughter.

What a brilliant mindset!

He remembered being very nervous during his own classification process.

Harry watched the little boy talk to Colin , and initially smiled meaningfully, but soon he could no longer smile.

Because Colin was loudly proclaiming that his brother's selection into Gryffindor was entirely the work of the Savior . Harry Potter's heartfelt prayers.

"Hey Harry ," Ron chuckled , "Congratulations, you've gained another fanatical follower."

"Stop talking nonsense , Ron , the headmaster has announced the feast has officially begun."

The plates on the long tables instantly overflowed with delicious food.

Seeing this, Ron grabbed a chicken leg and stuffed it into his mouth: "Finally, the time has come; I'm starving."

Just then, Nearly Headless Nick emerged from under the long table: "Good evening, everyone!"

"You're especially lucky today, because Peeves almost ruined the feast."

Hearing that the feast had almost been ruined , Ron swallowed the food in his mouth and asked curiously, " What did Peeves do this time?"

" What else can we expect from Peeves ? He only causes a lot of destruction," Nick said, shaking his head, though his head wasn't very stable and he almost fell.

"She trashed the kitchen, scattering pots and pans everywhere, and flooded the entire kitchen. All the prepared ingredients were ruined."

"The house spirits were in a panic; they were working hard to avoid delaying tonight's feast."

" Thankfully, " Ron said, " that was truly awful . Luckily, the house elves were very resourceful, otherwise we would have gone hungry tonight."

Ringing...

Hermione's fork clanged as it fell onto her plate. She glanced at Nick, almost headless , and cried out in shock.

" Are there house elves at Hogwarts too?"

"Did house elves make all this food?"
