Chapter 113 - Behind the scenes.

How Reever won was not surprising when everything was looked at carefully. He had known about the queen's betrayal long before the final moment arrived, and once that knowledge settled in his mind, preparation became inevitable. Someone like him did not walk blindly into traps. If he already suspected betrayal, then the natural response was to prepare something even worse in return.

When he thought about it calmly, the queen had truly dug her own grave. From the moment Reever experienced the first illusion and somehow managed to survive it, a realization had quietly formed in the back of his mind. At that point, the battle had already tilted in his favor even if the others did not know it yet. The illusion revealed far more than the queen probably intended. It exposed her methods, her confidence, and most importantly the fact that she relied heavily on deception. Once Reever understood that, the game changed entirely.

His encounter with Prespeto ended up becoming the turning point he needed. Killing that strange opponent had rewarded him with something far more valuable than he initially realized. The weapon he obtained from that fight was not ordinary in any sense of the word. It was a gun that possessed capabilities that no normal firearm should ever have.

Reever summoned the weapon again, letting it materialize in his hand. The gun looked unimpressive, almost insultingly plain. Its greyish color lacked any sense of style or intimidation. If someone judged it only by appearance, they would likely dismiss it as a useless piece of equipment. Reever himself could not help noticing how tasteless it looked, yet he had already learned that appearances inside the system meant very little.

His eyes focused on the weapon's stats once more.

[Blindside: A worthless weapon made for a worthless player with no skills. This weapon is the strongest in any rank. Incomparable, though those who master its tricks can make it as weak as a trashy weapon.

Skill:

a) Weakness.

It targets the weak points of anything before sending attacks to the marked point effortlessly.

b) Skill synchronization.

Weakness can synchronize with any skill, making it powerful. Skill synchronization depends on the capability of the user and the strength of the skill.

Weapon rank: Rare

Weapon can rank up twice before hitting its potential limit.]

Blindside was easily the best gift Reever had obtained from the queen's mission so far, if he excluded the enormous amount of points and future rewards he would receive after the mission ended. Compared to Specter Edge, Blindside operated on an entirely different level. Even placing the two in the same discussion felt ridiculous. Calling Blindside powerful was an understatement. In practical terms it behaved like a cheat code hidden inside the system.

When the queen trapped him earlier using illusions, Reever unexpectedly gained the perfect opportunity to experiment with the weapon. While Conner and the queen fought each other like two raging monsters tearing the battlefield apart, Reever stayed out of the direct clash and focused on understanding Blindside.

During that chaotic battle he managed to synchronize two skills, Bull's Eye and Weakness.

That small discovery removed one of the biggest limitations he previously faced. Bull's Eye normally allowed the user to mark an enemy and instantly teleport attacks toward the marked target. Originally, weakness skill worked mainly with bullets, but once Bull's eye synchronized with it, the restriction vanished. Suddenly the attack could be delivered using almost any weapon or object as long as the target was properly marked.

The moment those two abilities fused together, Blindside began doing the heavy work for him.

The weapon marked the queen and carefully identified her weaknesses. Reever did not rush the process. He simply watched the brutal confrontation between Conner and the queen unfold. Conner's strength was overwhelming and during the fight he managed to heavily injure the queen several times.

That was the opportunity Reever needed.

While both monsters focused entirely on destroying each other, Reever quietly marked the queen and teleported two special explosives into her body. The explosives had been given to him earlier by Dr. Harun, devices specifically designed to produce devastating explosion.

Using two of them might have been excessive. Still, Reever preferred certainty over arrogance. In battles like this, caution kept people alive.

Even if the queen later healed her injuries, the explosives would remain hidden deep within her body. Maybe she sensed something unusual at some point. Maybe she did not. In truth it did not matter anymore. The trap had already been set.

After Conner finally died, Reever did not rush to finish the queen. Instead he patiently waited for her next move. Even when the system displayed the rewards he gained from killing Conner, Reever deliberately allowed himself to appear relaxed. He intentionally lowered his guard while examining the information, creating the illusion that he had become careless after victory.

It was bait.

If the queen believed he was distracted, she would feel confident enough to attack. That was exactly the reaction Reever wanted.

The moment she revealed herself and her hidden forces, the outcome was already decided.

Reever detonated the explosives he had planted earlier and everything ended in a single violent moment. The queen and her forces were wiped out instantly, leaving him as the final victor.

Afterthat, Reever turned his attention to the reward the queen had left behind.

[Congratulations on killing the queen bot067.

You have been awarded 100,000,000

Go to the mission center, where you took your mission, to receive your rewards.]

When he saw that the system had only awarded him one hundred million points, Reever felt a small wave of disappointment. He had honestly expected something more interesting, perhaps a powerful skill. The illusion ability the queen used during the battle would have been a valuable acquisition.

Unfortunately luck did not seem to favor him this time.

His disappointment was not entirely new either. Earlier he had only gained one skill from Conner, Limitless Assault, and the situation became even more frustrating when he discovered that he could not use the skill until reaching the Veteran rank.

If there was one thing this mission had taught him clearly, it was that Legacy children were absurdly powerful. Conner was the perfect example. The man possessed a terrifying skill capable of allowing him to fight against an opponent close to the Master rank and even overpower them at certain moments. On top of that, Conner had his own energy reserves. Almost ninety nine percent of players lacked that advantage unless they were born into extremely prestigious families.

That difference alone created an enormous gap between ordinary players and Legacy descendants.

Conner also owned several incredibly powerful weapons, equipment that Reever unfortunately did not obtain after his death. The rules of the system were quite strict. When players died, their bodies disappeared soon afterward. Nothing could be looted unless the system itself decided to distribute those items as rewards.

Reever glanced at the total amount of points he currently possessed. When he added the points he had accumulated earlier to the one hundred million he just received, the number reached a total of one hundred and fifty million.

That was an enormous amount of points.

Normally killing the queen would reward players with only one million points. Receiving one hundred million instead was practically unheard of. Perhaps the system was compensating for the lack of valuable skills in the reward pool. That possibility seemed quite plausible.

After confirming everything, Reever lifted his gaze and slowly examined the cavern around him. The place looked almost destroyed after the violent battle that had taken place earlier. Cracked walls, scattered debris, and scorched ground filled the area.

Satisfied that no other players were nearby, he finally began walking toward the exit. This time he moved without the slightest hint of caution. According to the queen's earlier explanation, only one player could win a mission of this type. Since he had already secured victory, there should be no one left to challenge him.

With that in mind, Reever allowed himself to relax slightly.

"Maybe I should tease Daisy when I arrive." He thought as he activated camouflage, disappearing into thin air.
