Chapter 32 - Diamondhead

"Splash!"

Peter plunged heavily into the sewage.

Dr. Connors, now lizard-like, was as strong as a truck as he bore down on him!

Peter was pinned by him against the rushing sewage. The foul-smelling water immediately seeped into his mask, nearly flooding his mouth.

He tried to break free from Connors' arms, but was surprised to find the Lizard Monster possessed astonishing strength!

In fact, after transforming into a Lizard Man, Connors did have immense power. Coupled with Peter, who had only recently become Spider-Man and whose superpowers weren't yet at their peak, he found himself outmatched in strength by the Lizard Doctor in this struggle.

At this moment, they were being swept away by the flowing sewage, with no idea where they were headed.

Lizard Doctor gripped Peter's wrist like an adult would, intending to snap the fragile body of the young man.

But he, too, discovered that what he thought would be an easy snap of the spandex-clad freak's arms, found the opponent's bones to be far more resilient than steel rebar.

This was a superhuman!

Connors' gaze grew serious.

This wasn't the first time he'd encountered the other party, but on the previous occasion, they hadn't actually fought.

Currently, Peter was starting to feel suffocated by the sewage.

He knew clearly that he had to escape quickly.

So, he forcefully pushed off with his feet, kicking Lizard Doctor in the chest. He sent Lizard Doctor flying back, then immediately turned and fled frantically with the current, like a fish.

He had intended to be the hunter, but unexpectedly found himself the prey.

Lizard Doctor didn't give up after being kicked away. He pursued Peter once more.

His palms were broad. Although they didn't have webbed feet like a duck's, they could still propel him through the water quickly. His thick tail swung rapidly in the water like a propeller, generating significant thrust backward.

These physical attributes allowed Lizard Doctor to swim faster than Peter, much faster!

At this moment, he didn't look like a lizard, but more like a crocodile!

He was like a submersible missile, smashing through pipes and wire mesh filters in his path, tearing them to shreds – he instantly closed the distance between himself and Peter. His sharp claws were like steel blades that could slice through anything, and with every swing, he shredded whatever was in front of him!

Peter twisted his body constantly. Thanks to his Spider-Sense, he could always make all sorts of strange and amazing poses like a gymnast, narrowly dodging the attacks.

But he could dodge countless times; failure just once could cost him his life.

Fortunately, he wasn't entirely without an advantage.

His flexible body made him well-suited for the sewer. After all, not every pipe was thick enough to accommodate a monster like Lizard Doctor.

"If I'd known this Lizard Man was this strong, I should have swapped jobs with Benny."

Peter grumbled tiredly.

Although he was just saying it and would never actually put Ben in danger, honestly, if Ben knew what he was thinking, he'd probably be happy to swap.

Meanwhile, at Osborn Tower.

Ben held an antidote for the serum, warily surveying his surroundings.

Those Lizard Monsters had him surrounded.

He hadn't used the serum antidote on these monsters, not only because it was meant for Connors, but more importantly, these monsters were all affected by Doctor Animo's Mutation Device. The antidote would likely be of little use.

"The watch's cooldown hasn't finished yet. I can only buy time."

Ben glanced at his watch, which was still glowing red, and his heart sank. When he looked at Doctor Animo again, the man had already vanished completely into the darkness.

Suddenly, his Spider-Sense erupted like a downpour!

The Lizard Monsters attacked Ben simultaneously, a dark mass like a swarm of locusts lunging at him!

Without hesitation, Ben spun the serum in his palm, rolled it along the ground, then grabbed a corner of the lab bench with both hands. The heavy table swung around in his grip like a fly swatter!

*THUMP!!!*

A sweeping blow sent them all flying, and the monsters let out piercing screams.

At the same time, the table in Ben's hands snapped completely in two.

He scanned the monsters, noticing that they had clearly inherited the lizard's powerful regenerative abilities. The wounds he had inflicted healed completely within a few breaths.

Without a second thought, Ben charged out of the lab.

The next second, the monsters swarmed after him.

The narrow laboratory door couldn't accommodate them all at once, but that wasn't a problem. These Steel Bones monsters simply smashed through the entire wall, sending shattered stone fragments like cannonballs flying towards the other end of the tower.

Then came the relentless pursuit!

"Next time, I'm definitely bringing my Web Shooters!"

Ben wasn't foolish enough to take the stairs. He bent his knees and leaped over ten meters, landing vertically on the wall of Osborn Tower's central hall.

He thought this would allow him to escape the Lizard Monsters' pursuit, but to his surprise, although the monsters lacked bio-electricity, their sharp claws could embed into the walls. They chased him relentlessly, like Lickers from Resident Evil.

And they were incredibly fast!

"I need to lure them to the rooftop."

Ben glanced down.

Honestly, if he'd wanted to run, he could have easily outrun all these monsters. But he couldn't let them escape Osborn Tower; the consequences would be unimaginable.

For one thing, if even a single one of these creatures got out, recapturing them would be incredibly difficult.

Whether rats or lizards, they were all masters at surviving in the sewers.

Ben's biggest worry was that they might trigger a new Spider-Web Incident.

He turned and kicked a Lizard Monster away, but another one lunged from a blind spot in his vision. Without looking back, Ben ducked under the attack, then grabbed its tail—

Several tons of force erupted in an instant!

"Lizard Meteor Hammer!"

He swung the Lizard Monster like a weapon, the air whistling around him!

Several monsters that had been trying to surround him were sent reeling, seeing stars.

This weapon wouldn't last long, though. Seeing its tail grabbed, the Lizard Monster immediately tried to break free by severing it. But Ben had anticipated this and flung it away before it could succeed.

"Lizard Chariot!"

The Lizard Monster he'd thrown smashed into a whole line of monsters like a bowling ball.

"Strike!"

But his elation was short-lived. A more intense sense of danger, like an electric current, coursed through his entire body.

"Swish!"

A sharp whistling sound cut through the air, like a blade slicing through it.

Ben rolled to dodge the attack.

When he looked back, a massive dark shadow loomed over him—

It was a giant spider, much larger than Ben, almost an entire floor high. Its body was covered in what looked like solid armor, and its eight spider legs were like steel spears driven into the wall.

Ben instinctively took a few steps back.

"Did Doctor Animo use his Mutation Device on the spiders in Osborn Tower too?"

He was puzzled, but there was clearly no time to investigate.

The giant spider advanced on him like an armored tank. He had nowhere to run; behind him were countless Lizard Monsters—

The Spider Monster's powerful mandibles struck like guillotines, threatening to cut Ben in half!

"Crack!"

A sharp sound!

Like metal striking metal!

The Spider Monster's giant mandibles trembled, but couldn't advance an inch—

Reflected in its faceted eyes was no longer Ben's human form, but a towering warrior, crystal clear, with a sharply defined body!

—Diamondhead!

Ben exerted force with his arms, easily snapping the Spider Monster's giant mandibles!

"Sorry, I don't want to become a '2.5-tailed' version of myself."

I did post the picture of Diamondhead, and the bonus chapter is under review.
