Monica was stuck out of town and wouldn't be back for days. When I explained the urgency, she finally agreed to return as quickly as possible.
My nerves were frayed, but knowing she'd be here within the week brought some relief.
She was the only person left I could trust completely.
Years ago, Monica had been falsely accused of brewing a lethal poison that murdered an Alpha. Dad rescued her from execution by the werewolf Council when her innocence was proven.
Since then, Monica remained a loyal friend to Dad and like Aunt Monica to me.
But I'd cut contact with her after mating with Dominic.
Like every other Alpha, Dominic despised witches with a passion.
