Sandy's POV
"No." His answer came swift and final.
My mouth fell open, words failing me completely. I pulled back from him, yanking myself free with more force than necessary.
"I already told you about the curse. This isn't some jest." Charles continued, his tone cutting through the silence.
My pulse stuttered as I fixed my gaze on the far wall, unable to look at him. "What sort of curse, Charl? Or is this just your way of keeping me as nothing more than your secret? You refuse to upset your family because of me, and you cannot stomach the thought of claiming a woman who already belonged to another Alpha. Isn't that closer to the truth?"
The thought had been eating at me for so long now.
What man would truly want someone like me? A woman who once carried another Alpha's mark, only to be cast aside like worthless trash. In the eyes of our world, I might as well be dirt beneath their feet.
No one would ever welcome me. No one would ever see me as worthy of respect again.
