Sandy's POV
Reluctantly, I found myself sitting next to Charles while Zayden occupied the chair across from us. His piercing gaze remained locked on me as he detailed the process of removing this cursed bond.
"So you're telling me that you've uncovered everything about the witch who cursed me, but you have no idea where she is because she fled before your people could capture her?" The words tumbled out in a rush, my cheeks burning with frustration.
He lifted his shoulders casually and settled back into his chair. "I'll have her within days. You're welcome to remain here until then."
"She's not staying." Charles's voice cut through the air before I could reject the ridiculous suggestion. "When you locate the witch, bring her to me. If you can't manage that, provide us with the information. I'll handle it myself."
His palm grazed my lower back, quietly drawing me nearer. Every instinct screamed at me to pull away, yet I found myself melting into his warmth instead.
