Sandy's POV
Every rational thought in my head fought against the fire spreading through my bloodstream. The internal battle sent waves of heat cascading down my spine, pooling deep in my core with an intensity that made me dizzy.
A sharp intake of breath escaped me as I collapsed against his solid frame. Charles caught my waist with both hands, steadying me before lifting me effortlessly. In one fluid motion, he settled back onto the leather couch while positioning me across his lap, my legs bracketing his hips.
His fingertips skimmed along my vertebrae, drawing a violent shiver from my body. The fabric of my blouse felt suffocating against my overheated skin. I needed it gone. I needed to feel the callused texture of his hands directly against me.
