Sally's POV
The forest path stretches ahead of us, shrouded in darkness that makes every shadow seem alive. Walking between Karl and Philip feels like stepping into some twisted fairy tale where I'm flanked by the most dangerous creatures imaginable.
Both men stay impossibly close, their hands shooting out to steady me before I even realize I'm about to stumble. Their reflexes are unnaturally quick, reminding me exactly what they are.
Juliette is going to lose her mind when she sees who I'm bringing home. I should have warned her during our brief phone call, but she hung up before I could explain anything. The worry in her voice still echoes in my head.
After losing our parents, Warren and I are all she has left. She must have been terrified when she couldn't find me.
