Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Test

"Shen! Fang! Yu!"

Jiang Xu stood up immediately, knocking over the chair behind him with a bang.

Yu Sang carefully lifted the chair, and almost all the doctors who were chatting were shocked into silence, looking at Jiang Xu and then Shen Fangyu.

There won't be any more fights today, right? Who told them to sit opposite each other? Isn't this worrying?

Wu Rui glared at Shen Fangyu. He knew something bad would happen sooner or later with that stupid mouth of his. He patted Jiang Xu on the back and said, "Calm down, calm down." He said, "It's your shi ge's fault. I was just telling Fangyu about my wife's pregnancy symptoms, and he was joking with you."

However, Jiang Xiu who had been staring at Shen Fangyu, suddenly trembled at his words.

The phrase "pregnancy symptoms" hit his ears, occupying his mind at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Dizziness and fatigue, reluctance to eat fatty foods, nausea and vomiting are common pregnancy symptoms. He was an obstetrician and gynecologist, so he was familiar with these symptoms, but he had never thought in that direction.

Wu Rui was about to persuade him not to fight, but didn't expect things to calm down with just one sentence, Jiang Xu instead... sat quietly.

Although the look on his face didn't look good, the deadly tension that was in the room had disappeared. Wu Rui looked at him in disbelief, and suddenly said to himself: "So my eloquence is so good? Should I quit and be a mediator at the police station?"

"Yes, the next Nobel Peace Prize goes to Wu ge." Shen Fangyu spoke very cooperatively; he was also a little confused, Jiang Xiu was too cooperative today.

However, Jiang Xu suddenly stood up again, and when everyone thought he was ready to fight with Shen Fangyu, he suddenly patted Yu Sang on the shoulder and walked out of the lounge.

Yu Sang looked at him in confusion, then looked at the others for help. However, he found that almost all of his colleagues were looking at him with excitement and hope, as if they had the sentence written in large letters, "Just do it, you can definitely stop the war."

So Yu Sang's anxious eyes gradually became full of determination. He followed Jiang Xu out with his head held high and full of confidence, like a folk hero.

Then he saw Jiang Xu leaning against the wall with one leg slightly bent. His head was lowered, and he pressed the bridge of his nose. He looked tired. The depressing white light of the corridor hit him, and Yu Sang realized that Jiang Xu had lost a lot of weight recently, even the shirt he was wearing looked empty.

Seeing him coming, Jiang Xu beckoned and waited for him to come closer before lowering his voice and asking, "If a patient who had sex two months ago now experiences nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue, and dizziness, what is the cause?"

Yu Sang had long been used to Jiang Xu's sudden questions whenever and wherever he wanted, but he was a little surprised by how basic this question was. Even though it was strange, he still said, "Pregnancy."

Jiang Xu took a deep breath, as if he was trying to suppress some kind of impulse, and continued to press the question, "What if this patient is a boy."

"..." The question was a bit redundant.

"How about," Yu Sang said hesitantly, "get an HCG test first?"

Jiang Xu: "?"

Yu Sang was sure that after he said that, Jiang Xu looked like he was going to throw him into the sea and make him food for the sharks in the next second, so he changed his words at lightning speed and said, "I just said it casually, maybe it was gastrointestinal disorders."

Jiang Xu pinched his eyebrows and waved his hand at him, "Tell them I'm not feeling well, I'll go back first."

"Oh..." Yu Sang watched Jiang Xu leave in confusion.

He had followed Jiang Xu for many years, but this was the first time he saw Jiang Xu show such an expression. He looked at Jiang Xu's thin back, as if a gust of wind could blow him away, and suddenly wanted to advise him to eat more and not work so hard.

However, obstetricians and gynecologists, like surgeons, were always on the move due to the large number of operations, so they moved very quickly, as if they were in a hurry to be reincarnated. So by the time he opened his mouth to say something, Jiang Xu had already left, so he sighed and walked back to the waiting room.

The office was empty because everyone had gathered for dinner. Jiang Xu stared at the documents on his computer in a daze. Ten minutes later, he was still reading the first line. He turned off the computer a little annoyed and prepared to leave the office.

It was dark outside, and when he looked up, he could see the moon.

Outside the department was a very tall balsam fir tree, and deep in the branches of the fir tree was a bird's nest. The mother had just given birth to a nest of baby birds and was currently feeding them while chattering happily.

Jiang Xu's gaze stopped on the bird's nest, then looked towards the hospital building behind the tree.

He closed his eyes, as if he had made up his mind, then dialed the phone number: "Testing department duty room?"

The sound was faint, as if the wind was blowing at night.

There was a "mmm" sound on the other end. "What is it?"

"Are you busy there at the moment?"

"Not really."

Jiang Xu provided the employment details from his work ID card, then looked at his own photo, "I will send you a urine sample now, please help me do an HCG test, and transfer it to my personal account, Jiang Xu from the obstetrics and gynecology department."

It is common for doctors in the same hospital to go through the back door to send their own samples or those of their friends and relatives and carry out tests, usually to save costs.

The various departments were all colleagues, so they always turned a blind eye to this. They typically do not ask for names or record patient information for such tests, and provide the results directly to the doctor who took them.

Although he was a bit surprised that Dr. Jiang had to pay for the test himself, the doctor in charge of the testing department did not ask further and only gave him a positive answer: "The results will probably come out later, don't wait, get up in the morning to see."

Jiang Xiu: "Hmm."

However, Jiang Xu couldn't sleep, but he didn't want to admit that he was sleep deprived because he was waiting for the results of the testing section.

It was clear because he was a man that, although he had symptoms similar to pregnancy, it could not possibly be pregnancy.

Shen Fangyu's face appeared in his mind countless times, even many details he had forgotten from that night slowly returned to his memory.

He was anxious while waiting for the test results and felt really sick.

A professional obstetrician and gynecologist who can't sleep in the middle of the night wondering whether a man can get pregnant will be laughed at by his colleagues.

But when his phone rang, he still quickly answered it and opened the file sent by the examining doctor.

The latest inspection report was black and white, with only one indicator.

Jiang Xu's eyes seemed to burn a hole in the checklist as he stared unblinkingly at the familiar indicator and the surging values that followed it, drawing a clear conclusion.

Either the device is broken or the world has gone crazy.

He practically jumped out of bed at night and dialed Tang Ke's number
