Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Alohomora

"Sebastian, today is Friday. We are going to have a party. Come with us too."

"I am sorry. I am going to the restaurant where my mother works today. I do not have time. If I have time next week I will attend."

"Sebastian, you have rejected me so many times. Remember, next week you cannot reject me again."

"Okay, I remember. I will definitely not refuse next week."

"Okay then. See you next week."

"See you next week!"

Sebastian nodded to the other side and was about to get up and leave with his schoolbag on his back.

But as he walked out of the classroom a boy rushed over and put his arms around Sebastian's neck.

"Sebastian, I saw Rebecca talking to you just now. What did she say to you?"

"I was invited to the party but I declined."

"Rejected again?"

Sean's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Sebastian, my brother, this is the third time! You have rejected her three times in a row!"

Sebastian nodded helplessly.

"That is right. It has been three times so next time I cannot refuse no matter what otherwise I will be in bad luck."

"Brother, if you had not thrown that quarterback who confessed to you out of the classroom last week I would have thought you did not like women. But Rebecca is the most beautiful and has the best figure in our school. Even she cannot get you to like her? I really do not understand what you like."

Sebastian shook his head with a smile and looked at Sean.

"Sean, sometimes it is not about being pretty and liking it. It is more about the feeling, right? Even if it is a very ordinary girl she can still be regarded as a treasure. And if the feeling is not right then even if it is a Victoria's Secret model she is just a passerby."

Sean blinked with a stern expression on his face.

With a light cough Sean said loudly.

"Although I think you are right I still prefer Victoria's Secret models."

"Everyone has their own preferences."

Sebastian got on his bike and waved to Sean.

"Okay, I am leaving. See you on Monday."

"See you on Monday!"

Leaving the school by bike Sebastian headed straight to the restaurant where Alisha worked.

The restaurant was located in the downtown area. It was a quiet spot in the heart of the city with a fresh and natural décor style that Sebastian personally really liked.

He parked his bike in the designated parking space outside the restaurant. With his backpack slung over his shoulder he walked up to the familiar doorman and gave him a casual greeting.

However contrary to his expectations the doorman did not acknowledge him at all. He simply stared straight ahead not responding in the slightest.

What is going on? Is he in a bad mood today?

It felt a bit off.

Though he found it strange Sebastian did not dwell on it. He and the doorman were just nodding acquaintances after all.

He moved to step inside but before he could the guard suddenly extended his hand to stop him.

"The restaurant is closed and no one else is allowed inside."

Now Sebastian felt something was definitely wrong. This restaurant had three Michelin stars and naturally it came with a hefty price tag. Anyone who dined here was either rich or at the very least upper middle class. This made it unusual for the restaurant to have a closed door policy at this hour.

Moreover the behavior of the doorman was completely different from usual. His tone was flat and emotionless like he was simply repeating words with no real intent behind them. It did not feel like the actions of a normal person.

Sebastian turned to look at the doorman. When he locked eyes with him a flood of dusty memories surged into his mind reminding him of the Imperius Curse. One of the three Unforgivable Curses from his previous life.

Is this person being controlled by some kind of power or special means?

The thought of someone with that ability crossed his mind. A name formed in Sebastian's thoughts.

Thinking of that person's behavior he immediately realized that his mother Alisha was likely in extreme danger.

Without any impulse to break in through the front door Sebastian turned and swiftly left the restaurant's entrance. He maneuvered around the building to the back.

The manipulated doorman had only been instructed to block entry so Sebastian's departure did not raise any further suspicion.

When he arrived at the back door and saw it was deserted he knew his suspicion had been right.

This back door typically used for garbage disposal and other behind the scenes operations was a hidden access point that few outside the restaurant would know about. It gave Sebastian the perfect opportunity to act.

Sebastian pulled the door and found that it was locked. He let out a helpless breath. Stretching out his right index finger he pointed at the lock of the door.

Today Sebastian's magic had returned to the level he had reached when he was around eleven or twelve years old in his previous life. He was capable of performing some basic primary magic and could use his wandless magic skills. However perhaps due to the differences in the rules of the two worlds some of the magic from his past life had manifested in altered forms.

For example the Levitation Charm Wingardium Leviosa in this world did not just make objects float. It allowed Sebastian to move the floating objects to a certain extent as well.

For example the unlocking spell that Sebastian was going to use now. As long as there are physical doors and door locks whether it is an ordinary key door lock or an electronic door lock or a safe door lock they can be opened by this spell. But if there are no physical gates and locks such as password locks for online accounts the spell is powerless.

Slowly mobilizing his magic power Sebastian whispered softly.

"Alohomora."

Click.

The door lock clicked open and the door opened a gap. Sebastian immediately pushed the door open and walked in carefully closing the door behind him.

He walked past the garbage piled up in the corridor next to him and entered the extremely clean back kitchen. The sound of cooking filled the air.

Sebastian immediately spotted his mother Alisha standing in the center of the large kitchen. As a chef with three Michelin stars the best spot in the kitchen was naturally hers.

Stepping forward quickly Sebastian said to Alisha.

"Mom, how are you?"

Hearing Sebastian's words Alisha slowly turned her head. She looked at him with a dull expression.

"Sebastian, no, no. You cannot speak. I have to concentrate on cooking. The master wants to eat and I need to prepare the food."

Seeing the state Alisha was in Sebastian gritted his teeth feeling the surge of urgency. He stretched out his hand pressing firmly on Alisha's neck.

After a moment as the pressure cut off her air supply Alisha's eyes fluttered and she collapsed fainting. Although this was not ideal for her health Sebastian knew it was better than letting her be manipulated into dangerous and extreme behavior.

Holding the unconscious Alisha on the ground Sebastian's face remained cold. His heart was boiling with rage.

However the battle with the Death Eaters in his past life had taught him to keep his head clear no matter how furious he became.

He glanced at the finished dishes on the nearby kitchen counter. Then immediately he got up and found a set of clean chef's clothes in the familiar warehouse. He quickly donned the uniform and tied on the chef's hat. He organized his tools and took the finished dishes from the counter before walking out of the kitchen.

With his expression controlled Sebastian stood outside the kitchen door. His gaze swept the room observing the waiters standing near the restaurant's entrance and the guests seated at the center of the dining area.

There were two guests at the table. A man and a woman.

The man was dressed in a purple suit. While eating he smiled and said something to the dull and stiff faced woman beside him.

Seeing this Sebastian instantly knew his suspicions had been correct.

The man was Kilgrave known as the Purple Man who had been controlling everyone in the restaurant.

Kilgrave known for his power to emit pheromones and control the minds of others was a danger to anyone in his path. With his warped perspective on the world he frequently engaged in disturbing and cruel acts. He manipulated people's minds for his own twisted pleasure. His actions had not attracted significant attention from organizations like SHIELD or the police which allowed him to continue unchecked.

But today was going to be the last day of Kilgrave's life.
