Prologue

** The Traveler

I was sleeping after a heavy meal when the dreams began again.

They always do.

Once more, I was dragged into the depths of my own memories—faces, battles, worlds long gone. They never truly leave me. Each time I close my eyes, they return like tides reclaiming the shore, whispering who I was… or who I might still be.

Was it truly my past?

Or something else entirely?

Even now, I can't say for certain.

In this life, I am a writer.

A simple man who lives in quiet peace, filling pages with fragments of things others call fiction—but for me, they are recollections. Memories from lives long lived and worlds long left behind. It's not the best life, but it's peaceful… and that's enough.

You might have guessed it already.

Yes—I have lived many lives.

Across different worlds, through countless eras.

I've been a porter, carrying burdens through mountains of blood and fire.

A martial artist, chasing perfection until my body broke.

An Archmage, weaving the laws of creation.

A King, crushed beneath the weight of a crown.

A Taoist, wandering the edges of heaven and earth.

A demon king's general, commanding legions against the light.

I am a traveler.

I move through stories—living them, shaping them, and in the end, leaving them behind.

Every world is a tale, every life a narrative with its own rhythm.

A single mistake, a whispered word, or a choice made too early can alter the entire course of that story. And I—

I exist to see where those stories lead.

To live them.

To feel them.

To reach their ends and carry their weight with me into the next.

That is the price and the gift of my existence.

Now, it is nearly time to step into another world again—

a world both known and unknown.

But before I go, I want to tell you about the last story I lived.

A world of shadows and chakra, of loyalty and betrayal.

A place where I walked among shinobi.

This is the story of Seikatsu Suru,

the life I lived as a ninja—

in an age long before Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha,

when the land was torn apart by endless skirmishes among three great nations.

An age when feudal lords lusted for power more than peace,

when fire consumed homes and people watched everything they loved turn to ash.

It was a time of chaos—

when monsters walked among men,

and only the strong had the right to survive.

And I, Seikatsu Suru,

was there to live it.

To witness that cruel, beautiful world with my own eyes—

and now,

to tell you its story.
