Chapter 166 - Interference

When Millie had been young, her mother's dream for her had been for Millie to never have to lift a finger. For her to have her every whim catered to, and be a proper trophy wife to a future husband who would dote on her.

Like any good daughter, Millie had done her absolute best to make her mother happy. But to be honest, she had not been very enthusiastic about such a life. In the end, that was what had saved Millie when the family's fortunes had changed and they had found themselves on the brink of absolute poverty.

While the rest of her family members had been losing their minds. Unable to comprehend the fact that they would now have to work for a living. Millie had been excited at the prospect. She had gotten up day after day, sending application, after application and being rejected more times than she could count.

As it had turned out, all of the connections that her family had held. Had mostly endured simply because her family had been bringing something to the table.
