Jane was laying prone down and the community noise outside snapped Amara back to reality.
She saw her sister on the floor unable to speak. She rushed to her and held her trying to wake her up.
Jane's watery eyes were slowly closing, that scared the life out of Amara since she was already thinking the worst.
"Please wake up, don't close your eyes help is on the way sis please" Amara gasped out her breaking voice.
Amara's mother was back in the house and dialed Michael's number as the ambulance was taking forever.
"Michael it's Jane she's not okay please come quickly my daughter is dying please help!" Amara's mother said panicking at the other end of the line when Michael picked up on the second ring.
Michael just got out of a meeting and was heading to his office when he answered his phone.
Michael started to panic and sweat, "I am on the way, don't worry. Call the ambulance in the meantime please" Michael responded while rushing to his car.
Michael didn't notice how he drove out of the work premises as he was driving fast. "We already did but it hasn't showed up yet, please hurry!" that was Amara's mother on the phone then he hang up.
Jane's boyfriend's place and work place is about an hour away from Jane's house but he got there within 30 minutes.
When he got there, Amara's home was crowded with people from the neighborhood. He went inside and came out with Jane in his hands and put her in the car.
They all entered the car he then drove off to a hospital.
He certainly didn't want Jane to go to a clinic when she's not okay like that.
They arrived and nurses came out and took her to the Emergency Room.
It's been an hour now since they've been in the waiting room expecting updates from the doctor. The doctors and nurses were occupied with blood tests and scans.
Amara's phone vibrated and she saw a notification on the lockscreen that was dim, but she was too stressed to check, she ignored the message.
Minutes later, a doctor came out, "Doctor what's wrong with my daughter?" Amara's mother asked nervously. Amara got up from her seat and Michael was pacing up and down the hallway.
"Ma'am, I'm afraid I've bad news for your family, we did everything we could…" The doctor was interrupted by Michael.
"What do you mean you tried everything, what happened, what's wrong with her?" Michael raised his voice.
"Sir I need you to calm down, I meant we didn't find anything wrong with her, besides her saying she's in pain in her abdominal area we can't do anything if we can't find anything with her, I'm sorry" the doctor pointed out and left.
"What does he mean they can't find anything wrong with her, she just can't cry out of pain whereas there's nothing wrong with her, now can she!?" Amara yelled out of frustration.
Amara's mother and herself sat down in confusion while Michael was pacing up and down trying to make phone calls to get Jane to a better hospital because there was no way he was about to believe that there's nothing wrong with the love of his life while she looked miserably in pain.
A nurse approached them a while later, "we will have to discharge Jane in a few hours, but we will give her prescribed some pills to reduce the pain and inflammation, the doctors are still finishing up with here" she said.
She extended her hand to give Amara's mother papers for her to sign and then she left.
"What could those be mother? If Jane is okay why are we to sign papers as if it's hospital bills?" Amara's asked peaking into the papers in her mother's hands.
"I'm afraid they are my dear, we have to settle the bills for whatever they did to examine her but they didn't find anything" Amara's mother responded.
Amara kept quite as she knew they could not afford to settle the bills. She saw her mother look down stressed after viewing the papers once.
"How am I, Agatha, going to pay this ridiculous amount oh god help us!" Amara's mother cried out.
"It's okay mother I will settle everything since I'm the one who decided to bring her here and I will find another hospital where they can find out what us wrong with Jane" Michael broke the silence.
"Oh thank God thank you my son but you don't need to look for another hospital, won't they tell the same thing and that would be wasting huge amounts of money" Amara's mother said.
Amara's mother signed the papers and Jane came out on a wheelchair. She was still a bit weak but she was much more stable.
"Are you sure you're good sweetheart, I don't take the doctor's explanation for all this" Michael said enclosing Jane with a hug.
"I think I'm okay for now, but I swear something was wrong with me mother I'm not lying" Jane responded crying looking at her mother.
"It's okay my dear we know you were not faking it" Amara's mother replied.
They went into the car and drove back.
Jane explained how the tests and everything went.
Amara's worst nightmare came back to haunt her the second she heard Jane complaining about abdominal pain.
She decided to keep quite and not raise questions by asking further questions.
Amara remembered the text message she thought she'd seen on her phone hours back.
She decided to check her phone but it didn't switch on due to low battery.
She started to question herself why she doesn't always have her phone on full battery every time she's out, as she keeps receiving notifications, but she can't seem to open one notification without her battery dying.
Michael drove to another hospital where he usually goes, to go fetch Jane's prescriptions.
When they got there Jane was asleep in her seat, so Amara and her mother had to wait in the car with her.
Michael went and came back with a brown bag full of prescription pills.
They got to Amara's house and Amara's mother prepared soft porridge for Jane to be able to take her pills.
Amara powered her phone for a few minutes and checked the notification she had received earlier.
Amara opened the message, and it read, "How is my little Jane today, tell her I can't wait to see her on Monday at our private location".
She knew who that was, Jane doesn't go out a lot except going to work or to Michael. She knew it was Frank and she never gave him her numbers, so she was shocked to receive a message from him.
She went on to ask Jane who was taking her meds while Michael bought dinner for the family, "Jane how is Frank able to contact me and ask about your whereabouts?"
Jane dodged her sister's question by laying down to sleep. Amara's mother knew everything was getting out of hand, she raised her voice, "my Jane tell us what happened to you, and I swear on Christ's name I will unalive Mr. Thompson's son".
Amara's was shocked and Michael was not taking the text thing very good. "What's happening between you and that Frank guy Jane? I won't like to ask again".
Jane didn't want anyone to think she was willingly doing anything with Frank, but she couldn't speak out what's going on.
She was scared and muffled crying. Amara's mother ordered Michael and Amara to wait for them in the kitchen, she wanted to talk to Jane alone.
Amara's mother shut the door angrily it made a banging noise that made everyone's feet shake and tremble.
