XAVIER'S POV

I held the paper over the candle flame, watching the edges curl and blacken before tossing it into the fireplace. I tracked the paper until they vanished. "Kysva!" I cursed, clenching my fist. "Son of a bitch. One little criminal they couldn't capture."

The door creaked, followed by heavy footsteps. "Calm your nerves, Azure," Lev said. I ignored him, glaring out the floor-to-ceiling window. The Russian blizzard had been relentless for days, severing all connections and communication.

Two months, It had been two months away from the UK, away from the only thing that kept me sane, away from my wife. I had helped Lev usurp and dismantle every rival gang that refused to submit, but the moment I am this close to breaking Lucas Turner, the sky acts up.

"You miss her, don't you?" Lev asked, handing me a glass of whiskey. I gulped it down, my throat burning with rage.

"You didn't check the glass for poison," he noted.
