Chapter 3 - KAC-116: The Frost Cradled Fox

File ID: KAC-116

Designation: "The Frost Cradled Fox"

Threat Level: Category 1 (Local Threat)

Status: Contained

Discovering Officer: Researcher 224

World of Origin: Tundra

[DESCRIPTION]

KAC-116 is a small, fox-like creature approximately 60 cm in height at the shoulder, with thick silver-white fur dusted in crystalline frost. Its tail resembles a comet—continuously shedding gentle snowflakes that evaporate before touching the ground. Its eyes glow faint cyan, reminiscent of moonlit ice over still water.

When KAC-116 is near dying fires or extinguished campfires in winter climates, it materializes from the cold mist. Its presence lowers ambient temperature by 2–5°C, but paradoxically, the subject emits a soothing warmth when approached with non-hostile intent. Instead of radiating heat, KAC-116 stimulates Aura within living beings, particularly those carrying hope despite exhaustion or despair.

---

[BEHAVIOUR]

KAC-116 is non-aggressive and avoids direct conflict. Its behavioral patterns consist of:

- Appearing beside dying fires, especially when only one person remains awake.

- Coiling beside a flame, curling its tail around it like a cradle, intensifying the warmth without adding fuel.

- Only approaches individuals who are emotionally fatigued, grieving, or on the verge of giving up.

If treated gently, it may press its forehead against the subject's chest, momentarily warming them and releasing a pulse of Aura—this is referred to as "Frost Blessing."

However, if attacked, betrayed, or if the subject's intentions are malicious, its fur crystallizes into sharp shards, and it emits a freezing mist capable of inducing hypothermia in under 3 minutes.

---

[CONTAINMENT ATTEMPT]

KAC-116 is housed in a cryogenic-environment enclosure in the world of ███. Interior simulates a snow-laden forest with a central stone firepit. Daily ritualistic fire must be lit in its enclosure at dusk. Only trained personnel with Aura sensitivity levels above Rank C are permitted to approach within 5 meters.

Personnel must approach calmly, ensuring no hostile intentions. Heart rate monitors are mandatory during interaction. Elevated aggression levels result in immediate removal.

Under NO circumstances is open flame to be extinguished abruptly in KAC-116's presence; it has shown distress in such events.

[FINAL NEUTRALIZATION]

Not applicable.

[NOTES BY RESEARCHER 224]

"The entity has displayed an affinity toward children, musicians, and individuals carrying survivor guilt. In some cultures, it is known in folklore as the "Spirit that sleeps by the Last Fire," believed to accompany lost travelers so they don't die alone in the snow. Despite its classification of being a Category 1 Local Threat entity, it really poses no threat to any human."
