Chapter 49 - Ceremony

"Wh-why?"

Luo Yan hadn't fully recovered yet, so he didn't notice the displeasure on Xia Tali's face.

Although Xia Tali had always appeared very composed on Whitebeard's Pirate Crew, she was actually very nervous inside, especially after Luo Yan, whom she relied on, got drunk. She became even more anxious, and after staying up all night in such a situation, it was natural for her to feel a bit resentful.

"Isn't this the price to pay?"

"You're right. It seems I can't drink that much in the future."

Luo Yan finally came to his senses and realized his mistake. He quickly went along with Xia Tali's words, and her expression softened considerably.

"Captain, you sang a lot at the banquet yesterday. How was your digestion?"

Since Luo Yan had admitted his mistake, Xia Tali didn't dwell on it any longer and changed the subject. Luo Yan nodded, and despite his headache, a smile he couldn't suppress appeared on his face.

"It's completely digested. As long as I adjust my state, I can perform the ritual."

"That's good, Captain. Since you're awake, I'll go back to the ship to rest first."

Xia Tali hadn't slept well yesterday, being called up in the middle of the day. Now it was already noon the next day, and she was already very tired, but because she was the only one still awake, she had endured until now. Since Luo Yan was awake, she no longer needed to endure.

Luo Yan nodded. Xia Tali hugged the White Sable, and black mist immediately condensed behind her, forming a pair of wings. She flew directly to her ship, returned straight to her small room, and collapsed into sleep.

The White Sable, which had been brought along, did not rest with her. It had already slept last night under Xia Tali's caresses. Now it needed to take over the Little Golden Monkey's duties and take care of the flowers and plants that hadn't been tended to for a day.

Nearly two more hours passed before Luo Ta and Mite woke up. They both grimaced with headaches when they first woke up, but neither complained nor asked to go back to the ship to find Xia Tali for medicine. They simply sighed, remarking that the Whitebeard Pirates truly lived up to their reputation as a Four Emperors crew; their banquets were always lively.

Two more days passed. During these two days, although there were no more banquets, Luo Yan and his group were still warmly received by the Whitebeard Pirates. After all, Luo Yan's group, including the animals, only numbered seven, which was not a burden for a large Pirate Crew like the Whitebeard Pirates. The relationship between the two sides further harmonized, and Whitebeard, who had taken another dose of medicine, was in even better condition. So, Luo Yan finally made the request for Whitebeard to cause an earthquake and a Tsunami, which Whitebeard naturally did not refuse.

Luo Yan arrived at an uninhabited small island, with the Moby Dick a few hundred meters away.

Whitebeard stood at the bow of the ship, clenching his fists and suddenly swinging them to both sides. The air immediately cracked open like a spiderweb.

The ground began to shake, and the waves seemed to be lifted by an invisible force, turning into dozens of meters high waves that swept towards the island.

Boom!

The first wave crashed onto the island with a tremendous sound. The rocks on the shore, whether from the vibrations or unable to withstand the impact of the waves, shattered quite a bit.

Upon feeling the tremor beneath his feet, Luo Yan immediately took out the pre-prepared Sequence 4 Calamity High Priest potion from his 懷, tilted his head back, and poured it into his mouth.

In an instant, he felt a surge of savagery, as if it came from the giant Sea Kings, or from the sea itself, or perhaps from within himself.

His thoughts seemed to explode, shattered by the savagery, and he was on the verge of losing control. Just then, a sense of danger came from all directions, an overlay of his inherent sensitivity to ocean changes and his premonition of danger.

Danger and savagery acted simultaneously, achieving a certain degree of neutralization. Luo Yan's shattered thoughts gradually returned. He dared not be negligent in the slightest and immediately meditated, reining in his thoughts to maintain his clarity.

Outside, the earthquake and Tsunami continued. The entire island shook violently, and waves tens of meters high came one after another. At this moment, the island seemed like a small boat in a storm, capable of capsizing at any moment.

In fact, it was true. If Whitebeard wished, he could make this small island disappear directly, but he controlled his strength very well, always keeping the earthquake and Tsunami at a level that would not destroy the island.

With unremitting effort, Luo Yan finally regained control of his body. His thoughts became clearer, gradually suppressing the savagery, and his eyes regained their clarity.

A large amount of knowledge flooded into Luo Yan's mind. This was the knowledge that came with the Calamity High Priest potion, which meant that Luo Yan had successfully advanced and become a true demigod. From this moment on, the sea would be his to roam, and even an Admiral would not be able to stop him!

Boom!

With a sonic boom, Luo Yan had already appeared in the sky above the Moby Dick, several hundred meters away. His current flight speed could already exceed the speed of sound.

Whitebeard, who was about to throw another punch to maintain the earthquake, suddenly stopped and looked up at Luo Yan in the sky.

"It seems the earthquake and Tsunami are no longer needed."

Luo Yan slowly landed on the deck of the Moby Dick and bowed sincerely to Whitebeard.

"Thank you for your help. I have finished what I needed to do."

"Although I don't know what you did, I can feel that you seem to have become much stronger all of a sudden."

Whitebeard's expression was serious as he scrutinized Luo Yan. Luo Yan smiled, not directly answering the question, but instead changed the topic.

"I saw some of the future, about your future."

"Oh? Tell me about it."

Luo Yan's words successfully piqued Whitebeard's interest. He didn't doubt the ability to see the future, as Observation Haki, when pushed to its limits, could achieve such a feat.

"I saw you being stabbed through the body by someone with a sword, but you didn't attack him. Instead, you embraced him with your hands. I couldn't clearly see that person's face, only vaguely a long sword. In any case, be careful of those around you. It might not be a traitor, but at least someone who has been deceived."

"Is that so? Thank you for letting me know. It's a pity you're not willing to become my son."

Whitebeard once again expressed his desire to adopt Luo Yan as his son, but Luo Yan smiled and shook his head.

"My destiny is not with a Pirate Crew. My business is done, and it's time for me to leave. We'll meet again if fate allows."

As he spoke, Luo Yan placed his right hand on his chest, bowed slightly, and offered another salute. Whitebeard was silent for a moment, then reached out and handed him a trimmed piece of white paper.

"This is my Vivre Card. If you encounter trouble, you can come find me."

"Thanks."

Luo Yan did not refuse Whitebeard's kindness, after all, even if Whitebeard died, the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates still possessed considerable fighting power.
