Chapter 1 The Last Heartbeat

The rain poured like the heavens were mourning her.

Elena's hands trembled on the steering wheel, her vision blurring from pain and tears.

"Please… stay with me," she whispered, her other hand clutching her belly.

A weak heartbeat answered her—tiny, fragile, alive.

A truck's headlights flashed.

Then everything went black.

When she opened her eyes again, sterile white lights blinded her.

The sound of a heart monitor beeped steadily beside her.

She turned her head—and froze.

A little boy, no more than five, was sleeping beside her bed, holding her hand tightly.

He had her eyes.

> "Mommy… don't leave me again,"

he murmured in his sleep.

Tears slid down Elena's cheeks.

Five years had passed.

And somehow—she was alive again.

💬 If you woke up five years after dying, what would be the first thing you'd do?
