Chapter 12 - A Warm Family

I ran along the beach with Qin Xinmei at a leisurely pace, glancing sideways at the clown flower tucked in her hair. Then my gaze fell on her delicate face. Her small, sparkling nose shone with a lustrous glow, her profile was charming and serene, and her thin, red lips were curved like cherry blossoms. The more I looked at her, the more addictive her beauty became.

At that moment, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself, and decided to get up early every day and wake her up for a run.

Although Qin Xinmei is sometimes very fierce to me and acts very barbarically, her little face often changes in my eyes, making me both love and hate her.

However, I could sense that she genuinely cared about me, and sometimes she would show a motherly, doting affection. Moreover, beneath her cool and aloof demeanor lay a heart that was not what it seemed.

Beneath her queen-like, cold exterior, her heart is also fragile and prone to grievances.

"Chen Qing, we've been running for half an hour. Let's go back and have breakfast." Qin Xinmei suddenly stopped running and slowly walked with her long, beautiful legs.

Her gaze was fixed on me, her jade-like arms draped over her slender waist, and her small mouth was breathing softly.

"I don't want to go back so early. Since it's rare for you to be off work, why don't we take a walk and enjoy the sea breeze?" I naturally took Qin Xinmei's hand and walked towards the path in the seaside park.

The trees are lush and green, the coconut palms are towering, the lawns are verdant, and the sea breeze is blowing gently, making it incredibly pleasant.

"Alright, let's walk a little further and then head back. I bet Siting just woke up too."

Qin Xinmei did not object, letting me hold her small hand. Her eyes were lowered, glancing at the large hand holding her jade-like hand. It was warm, broad, and strong. Her gaze was incredibly complicated. She sighed inwardly. Things were getting more and more beyond her expectations.

She understood the meaning of the clown flower her son had mentioned, and the affectionate voice of his confession from today still lingered in her mind.

If one day he finds out her identity, how will he react?

"Qin Xinmei, what are you thinking about? Are you feeling unwell?" I saw that Qin Xinmei looked dazed, her mind was not focused, and her face was a little tense. She didn't have her usual queen-like demeanor.

I was a little worried, so I couldn't help but gently squeeze the soft, boneless little hand in my palm.

"It's alright, don't worry." Qin Xinmei's tone was gentle when she saw my worried expression, but her face turned cold again.

"Your Majesty, don't you know how worried I was when you were like that?" I frowned, staring into her clear eyes, and said feigned anger.

"Are you worried about me? Then again, you said it was a walk, but you just wanted to hold my hand." Qin Xinmei's expression was teasing, and she glanced at me but didn't pull her hand away.

She knew my little scheme and exposed it without hesitation, yet she fell into my trap herself.

"Yes, yes, that's what I was thinking, but you didn't object." I held Qin Xinmei's delicate hand, my body pressed against hers, her hand feeling incredibly soft and slightly cool.

At that moment, a smile appeared on my lips, and I didn't feel embarrassed at all.

"I didn't expect your skin to be thicker than a brick wall." Qin Xin's expression was sarcastic, and she tried to break free of that large hand with her delicate hand, but it was as if she was being held in a pair of vises.

"Qin Xinmei, do you like me?" I stopped and held Qin Xinmei's delicate hand, asking earnestly.

"You're still young, don't think about these things all day. Focus on your studies, okay?" Qin Xinmei frowned, her tone serious, her usually aloof face looking somewhat unnatural.

"Qin Xinmei, are you rejecting me or saying yes?" I blinked, staring at her delicate yet aloof face, our eyes meeting.

Qin Xinmei glanced at me, said nothing, her expression calm, and the two of us strolled slowly along the tree-lined path.

"I'm tired, I'm not going any further. I'll rest for a while and then go back." Qin Xinmei pulled her small hand out of my big hand, sat on the stone bench, and stretched out her slender legs as much as possible to relieve the fatigue in her legs.

"Wait a minute, I'm going to buy something." I suddenly ran towards a group of people gathered not far away.

There was a 60-year-old man over there pushing a bicycle, selling candied hawthorns, and several people were already gathered around him.

Qin Xinmei was taken aback. After realizing what I was going to do, her beautiful face slowly relaxed, and the cold expression on her face receded like the tide, instantly becoming as gentle as a spring breeze.

A little while later, I returned with four skewers of candied hawthorn and sat down next to Qin Xinmei.

"You bought so many, can you finish them all?" Qin Xinmei took a string of candied hawthorns, tore off the transparent film on them with her delicate fingers, and asked in confusion.

"One skewer is for Sister Siting, and the other is for Aunt Xin." I answered without hesitation, putting a bright red and shiny candied hawthorn in my mouth, then biting into it, feeling a soft, sweet taste in my mouth.

"How are things going with Siting?" Qin Xinmei took a small bite of the candied hawthorn and chewed it slowly, very elegantly.

"She's a good person, simple and smart, but I can tell she's a little lonely." I stared at Qin Xinmei, thought for a moment, and then voiced my thoughts.

I chatted with Chen Siting in my room last night and got to know her personality a little. She's not only beautiful, but also very innocent.

"I asked about your relationship with her, not about her personality. She's my daughter, don't you think I know everything about her?" Qin Xinmei frowned, her tone a bit sharp, but her confidence was somewhat lacking.

This is her son implying that she spends all her time at work and never spends time with Chen Siting.

"Look at your tone, you're about to yell at me after just a few words." I chuckled, wanting to tease Qin Xinmei a bit more, but then a cool, soft hand pinched my ear.

"Chen Qing, are you trying to rebel? Who are you trying to mock with those sarcastic remarks?" Qin Xinmei pinched my ear with her jade-like fingers and slowly turned it around, but the force was not strong, and it looked more like a threatening gesture.

"Alright, Your Majesty, I admit my mistake, okay?" I raised my hands in surrender, rolled my eyes at Qin Xinmei, and couldn't help but smell the familiar lotus fragrance on her body, faint yet increasingly addictive.

"You're a promising student." Qin Xinmei released my ear with her jade-like hand, a smile naturally appearing on her lips.

She sat up straight, brushed her hair aside with her delicate hand, and continued eating the candied hawthorn. In her memory, it had been more than ten years since she had eaten this sweet, fragrant, and soft treat.

"We'll eat the candied hawthorns later. You have worms in your hair, the kind that are bluish and fuzzy. Don't move yet, I'll help you throw them away," I suddenly said, looking at Qin Xinmei with a mixture of fear and seriousness.

"Insects?" Qin Xinmei had a candied hawthorn in her mouth, not yet chewing it, when she turned her head and saw my horrified expression. She felt a chill run down her spine and froze in fear.

Insects are a woman's natural enemy; almost all women are afraid of them, and Qin Xinmei is no exception.

"Don't move, I'll gently push it away." I blinked and slowly wrapped my hands around Qin Xinmei's head; her body trembled slightly.

A slight smile appeared on my lips as I cupped Qin Xinmei's head. She noticed my strange gaze and sensed something was amiss.

Unfortunately, by the time she came to her senses, it was too late. I pressed my lips against her soft, smooth lips, sucked the half-eaten candied hawthorn between her teeth into her mouth, and then turned and ran away.

"Haha, I've finished mine, it's not too much for you to share half with me, is it?" I turned to Qin Xinmei, who was still in a daze, and shouted, before running home on my own.

Qin Xinmei was both amused and exasperated. She touched her lips with her delicate hand. The sunlight shone on her, and her white tracksuit intertwined with the light and shadow under the coconut trees, creating a serene and beautiful scene that was breathtaking.

I suddenly stopped and saw a hazy, dreamlike figure not far behind me.

"Run, why aren't you running anymore?" Qin Xinmei's delicate face was somewhat gloomy, her smile was gentle, but it made people feel a little chilly in this scorching sun.

"I'm waiting for you, why are you running away?" I asked, holding two strings of candied hawthorns.

"Aren't you afraid of me anymore?" Qin Xinmei's tone was calm and aloof as she slowly walked towards me with her long, slender legs, her gaze cold and indifferent.

"Hey, what's wrong? You want to beat me up?" I stuck my head out, looking like a dead pig that wasn't afraid of boiling water.

Based on what I've learned over the past few days, Qin Xinmei won't do anything to me at all.

  Anyone can fool people.

"Sometimes, I really want to punch you, but then I think about it and realize I can't bring myself to do it." Qin Xinmei walked past me, her clear voice soft as she said, "Let's go back, I'm hungry."

I stared at Qin Xinmei's beautiful figure, stunned. This wasn't like a queen's style. I felt that something was missing if she didn't beat me up or scold me.

However, when I think about the few days I've spent with her, I realize that she has never scolded me and has always been gentle and doting towards me, which gives me the confidence to be so unrestrained with her.

"Chen Qing, what are you still standing there for? Hurry up and catch up!" Qin Xinmei saw me still standing there in a daze, probably worried that I would get lost or for some other reason, her cold face was a little speechless.

I followed with a smile, walking side by side with Qin Xinmei. Her fair face was flushed with a few rosy blushes, probably from the strong sunlight.

"Are you really not going to hit me a couple of times? Or you could really hit me a few times, so I'd feel better?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Shut up." Qin Xinmei said expressionlessly, continuing to walk forward.

I wisely kept quiet, and it seemed that Qin Xinmei, who doted on me so much, was finally getting a little angry.

When we returned to the villa, Chen Siting was already eating breakfast at the dining table, and Li Weixin was washing vegetables in the kitchen, presumably preparing ingredients for lunch.

"Mom, brother, did you go for a run?" Chen Siting asked when she saw her mother and me in our workout clothes.

Her long hair was casually draped over her shoulders. She wore a striped, round-neck, Korean-style loose-fitting white short-sleeved cotton shirt and black joggers. She looked somewhat lazy and was a typical Korean-style pretty girl.

"Little girl, even though you're on summer vacation, you can't be so lazy. You need to get up earlier from now on, so you don't get used to it." Qin Xinmei glanced at Chen Siting, and could tell from the girl's lazy appearance that she had just gotten up.

"Yes, Your Majesty, I obey. From now on, I will rise at cockcrow and retire at sunset." Chen Siting swallowed a mouthful of porridge, giggled, and then her gaze fell on me, her eyes blinking.

"You're such a chatterbox." Qin Xinmei ignored Chen Siting, glanced at me, and then went into the restroom.

"Sis, look what I brought you!" I handed a string of candied hawthorns to Chen Siting and then headed to the kitchen.

The beautiful mature woman, Li Weixin, was half-bent over picking vegetables at the sink. Her full, round buttocks were very alluring. Sensing someone behind her, she turned around, saw me, and smiled, "Chen Qing, are you hungry? Have you had breakfast yet? Where's President Qin? I haven't seen her."

"Aunt Xin, we just got back from our run. Here, take this. We bought it on the way." I handed the candied hawthorn to Li Weixin and then returned to the table.

Li Weixin glanced at me, stared blankly for a moment, then carefully placed the candied hawthorn on a plate beside her, and then washed the vegetables.

"Sister, are the candied hawthorns sweet?" I sat next to Chen Siting, and this beautiful girl served me some porridge. She was as thoughtful as Qin Xinmei.

However, I didn't touch my chopsticks and waited for Qin Xinmei. I saw an empty bowl on the other side of the table, so I stood up and ladled out a bowl of porridge.

Just then, Qin Xinmei came out of the restroom, walked over to Chen Siting, and sat in the spot I had just been sitting in.

"Little brother, where did you buy the candied hawthorns? It's been so long since I've had something so sweet and delicious." Chen Siting glanced at her mother, chuckled, and winked.

"I just bought this after my run on the beach." I sat down and started eating breakfast.

"Okay, next time you go for a run, buy an extra skewer. One isn't enough." Chen Siting chewed on a candied hawthorn, licking her syrup-covered fingers as she reminded me.

"If you eat too much sugar, you'll get fat and lose your teeth. Aren't you afraid of becoming ugly? What will you do if you can't find a boyfriend then?" I put down my bowl, jokingly threatening her.

"Little brother, who are you trying to scare? I'm not a child anymore. Just remember to bring an extra one. If you don't have money, I'll give you some." After finishing the last candied hawthorn, Chen Siting wasn't satisfied. She sucked her little finger and gave me a dissatisfied look, thinking I was stingy for not buying her one.

"Fine, what are you saying? I'll bring back that old man's bicycle that sells candied hawthorns too, okay?" I rolled my eyes at Chen Siting and said through gritted teeth.

"Okay, you said it, I'll give you the money right now, and I'll even buy the bicycle back." Chen Siting said seriously, handing me a stack of nearly 3,000 RMB.

"Sis, are you serious?" I stared at Chen Siting in shock, not taking the RMB. This beautiful girl didn't seem to be joking; she actually took out the money.

"Haha, you're killing me! Little brother, you're so funny, much more adorable than Xiaoli's 11-year-old brother in our class." Chen Siting slapped the table and laughed heartily, her pair of white little feet swinging back and forth.

This Korean version of the beautiful girl image has been completely ruined.

"Damn it, this is absolutely awful." At this moment, the image of Chen Siting as a beautiful girl in my mind completely collapsed.

Just a short while ago, I told Qin Xinmei that Chen Siting was not only simple-minded but also clever and quick-witted. Now, I take back what I said.

What kind of simple-mindedness is that? It's all empty talk.

Qin Xinmei looked at me and Chen Siting, the two siblings chatting and laughing, and a strange feeling welled up in her heart. A smile appeared on her red lips as she ate her porridge.

"Chen Qing, this is what they call 'the wicked will be punished by the wicked.'" At this moment, Qin Xinmei couldn't help but chuckle.

"Qin Xinmei, well, you actually laughed at me too?" I was both ashamed and angry. I stared at Qin Xinmei's perfect and smiling face, which was so charming that I was stunned for a moment.

"From now on, neither of you is allowed to speak again. Hurry up and eat your breakfast. Do you understand?" Qin Xinmei saw me staring blankly at her and then put on a cold expression.

"Fine, so you and your daughter are bullying me." I sighed deliberately, then smiled slightly.

"Chen Qing, after breakfast, come shopping with me." Chen Siting glanced at her mother's cold face, then turned to me, looking expectantly and whispering.

"Okay, I don't have anything else to do anyway, so I'll keep you company." I thought about it for a moment, then frowned and agreed. Shopping with a woman is tiring; I've done it before with my sister Inina Ellie.

Then, I turned to look at Qin Xinmei, and she seemed to know what I was thinking. She raised her head and said, "Be back before 2 p.m. I booked a farm this morning for four days."

"Mom, so you mean we're going to go on a four-day trip?" Chen Siting asked, looking surprised and somewhat disbelieving her mother.

"Yes, four days of fun. Mom hasn't spent time with you all in a long time." Qin Xinmei glanced at Chen Siting, then turned her head and her gaze softened as she fixed it on my face.

I was somewhat surprised to see that Qin Xinmei didn't seem to be joking.

Then it suddenly dawned on her: the vice president of Xinzi Group whom she had never met was back. Now that the vice president was here, Qin Xinmei took a few days off and secretly arranged her itinerary.

Qin Xinmei stood up and walked towards the second floor. After thinking for a moment, she turned back to me and Chen Siting and said, "We need to be at that farm at 5:30 this afternoon. Don't get so caught up in playing that you forget the time."
