Chapter 40 - Train (3)

"The organization didn't lack snipers," Akai Shuichi said slowly.

Besides Gin's operation team, there were also other snipers in the organization. But most of them were not as good as Gin.

If there's anyone who is said to rival him…

"But for him to be able to snipe accurately on top of the train roof, I can't think of anyone aside from Gin," Conan pressed on.

No, even Gin might not be able to do this.

But either way, Gin is the organization's best sniper based on what he knew.

He wanted an answer.

Akai Shuichi looked at Conan and said slowly, "I have no idea, Boya."

He defected from the organization more than two years ago. The best sniper has always been Gin and he's also basically working under the other party.

Conan was deflated once more.

Akai Shuichi thought about Scotch who's still in the organization, but he didn't think the other party would do something like this. After all, he's an undercover agent. Moreover, he didn't think that Scotch would be capable of sniping someone from the top of the train.

They basically confirmed this some time after that incident. Unfortunately, Akai Shuichi didn't have much time to cooperate with the other party before he defected after failing to trap Gin.

He still has Scotch's contact number.

But the other party is a Japanese Public Security officer. He might not be willing to share information with him.

"I'll try to ask someone." Akai Shuichi sighed and moved away, trying to make a phone call.

The phone rang for a bit before it was answered.

"Rye…so you're still alive."

"Scotch," Akai Shuichi said. "Do you know any sniper in the organization who's better than Gin?"

"Why do you ask that?"

While Akai Shuichi was asking questions, the barrage exploded once again.

[Ah, ah, ah, Morofushi Hiromitsu is still alive!]

[What? And he's still being called Scotch!]

[Will he appear in the mainline?]

[Damn! The one who shot couldn't be him, right?]

Akai Shuichi was silent for a moment before asking, "Did you come to the Mystery Train today?"

Morofushi Hiromitsu was in his safe house. He had heard from Bourbon that he went to the Mystery Train today to find Sherry. His expression turned solemn as he seemed to understand the reason why Akai Shuichi asked this question.

There's a sniper on the train.

"No," Morofushi Hiromitsu said with certainty.

"Then, can you tell me if there's any sniper capable of shooting on top of a moving train?"

Morofushi Hiromitsu was confused for a moment and then frowned. "Is it scientifically possible?"

Akai Shuichi was also silent.

As fellow snipers, they were actually both wondering if such an operation was actually possible. After all, the wind will come to them and it's difficult to maintain stability, much less shooting targets in the distance under such conditions.

"If there's any sniper better than Gin… I can only think of Sake," Morofushi Hiromitsu said slowly.

"Can you tell me more about him?"

Morofushi Hiromitsu was silent and then saw someone coming to his safe house. Seeing Bourbon coming in, he put his finger in front of his mouth and Bourbon stopped.

"Sake is very powerful… that's all I can say." Morofushi Hiromitsu saw Bourbon's expression darkened when he said that.

"I understand."

The call was hung up and Bourbon immediately started questioning Morofushi Hiromitsu. Upon knowing that it was Rye who called, Bourbon immediately cursed and said that he's right. That b*stard FBI is still alive.

Morofushi Hiromitsu waited until his childhood friend calmed down and then said, "Alright, the important thing is that there's a possibility Sake is inside the train too."

"Sake?" Bourbon frowned.

Rum has mentioned this codename before and there's always a hint of gnashing teeth whenever he mentioned the other party.

"I have been pushed away from the core, so I hadn't worked together with other codename members. I have only heard that Sake's sniping skills are comparable to Gin." Morofushi Hiromitsu shrugged helplessly.

"Don't say that, the information you can get are also important." Furuya Rei looked back solemnly.

"I know." Morofushi Hiromitsu smiled.

"I haven't worked together with Sake either." Bourbon shook his head. "Rum said that Sake is an outlier, part of the action team but has his own intelligence lines and isn't exactly under him."

Well, that's why Rum was always angry at the mention of the other party.

But Bourbon never met with the other party so far. Their mission didn't overlap and there was no reason to approach Sake.

"Hmm, but Sake should have shot someone for Akai Shuichi to come looking for me. Perhaps what happened in the Mystery Train is not quite like what you perceived."

Furuya Rei gritted his teeth.

Great.

From the three participants, he was basically the one who obtained the least information, Huh?

Damn it!

He will investigate again!

Seeing Furuya Rei filled with such a strong fighting spirit, Morofushi Hiromitsu just shook his head.

On the other side, Akai Shuichi turned to look at Conan, who was horrified.

"Mr. Akai, did you… call a member of the organization?"

If he wanted to call someone, why not Kir?

But perhaps… Kir also didn't know.

"I have a deal with him. He wouldn't leak the fact that I'm alive." Akai Shuichi looked at Conan and then said, "Sake is the most possible one. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the other party."

Sake…

Conan nodded and then sat down, thinking carefully.

But without any clues or signs…

How should he find the other party?

Conan isn't the only one feeling restless, the readers were feeling the same way.

[So, it's a new wine]

[Sake huh? So it must be Japanese!]

[Not necessarily. They didn't usually give codename based one region]

[Is it a woman or a man?]

[Both are possible!]

[Either way, let's see if there are familiar characters]

[Maybe that FBI?]

[Pfft, you still suspect Lucas? But he's indeed suspicious]

[No, if it's Lucas, he should have known that Akai Shuichi is still alive, right?]

[It's Peter who knew. Lucas didn't know and he's even consoling Jodie at that time while Peter laughed at his childhood friend]

[Let's just see who are inside the train]

They overturned the videos, trying to find anything that could be a clue. And then found out that many people from Conan's previous cases had appeared in the Mystery Train.

But because they were not in the nearby room, they were not mentioned.

So, it turned into a guessing game.

Lucas looked at the barrage expressionlessly.

He was indeed present in the Mystery Train, but his purpose was to watch the show. Considering his salary, he had to use some other not so good means to enter the Mystery Train.

Did they think he could snipe someone on top of the train roof with his current physique?

Not to mention, that was such a long distance.

If he wanted it, he might have to buy the advanced skill, which was freaking expensive. Lucas could only say that he couldn't do it.

He stayed in the reasoning room honestly and then disappeared during the chaos.

…Is it that suspicious?

Lucas looked at the sky.

Ah, if he ended up as one of the three suspects, he would laugh at whoever suggested that he's Sake.

At this moment, the camera moved towards James and Peter.

The two of them were talking with each other.

"I haven't seen Lucas today," James said with a frown. That man often did things on his own that caused headaches for James.

"He's on the Mystery Train." Peter knew Lucas' itinerary and glanced at the screen. His eyebrows raised slightly when he saw that the screen did change to them.

Does the game want to play a guessing game with them?

It's a bit amusing that Lucas was included, though.
