Chapter 88 - The Emperor's Chosen

Ian gave Lyon a detailed introduction to the worlds and development status of the other transmigrators in the chat.

From Molly's Frozen Apocalypse World to Shawn's Solo Leveling World, everyone's experience brought a sense of relief to Lyon.

[AAA Terra Toilet Wholesale]: If only you had come sooner, perhaps those transmigrators wouldn't have...

Lyon's words carried the weariness of a hundred years of campaigning, along with regret for his lost comrades.

[Super Block Man]: The past cannot be changed, but we can face the future together.

[Super Block Man]: Tell me about your current situation.

Lyon briefly described his company's mission: "We are in the Sidios System, about to head to Kadaku for a rescue mission."

[Super Block Man]: Wait, Kadaku?

[Super Block Man]: Isn't that the plot of Space Marine 2? Aren't you about to meet Chapter Master?

[AAA Terra Toilet Wholesale]: I look forward to meeting him.

The two chatted for a few more minutes about the current state of the Warhammer World, discussing everything from the Imperium's corruption and technological decline to the Xenos invasion and the threat of the Four Chaos Gods. When the topic turned to the Emperor, both of them instinctively offered a few criticisms.

[Super Block Man]: Seriously, the Emperor is great for Mankind as a whole, but personally, he's hard to describe. You should stop believing in him.

[Super Block Man]: Why don't you believe in me instead? For my believers, the principle is simple: what you put in, you get back.

[AAA Terra Toilet Wholesale]: "Huh?"

[Super Block Man]: I have only three tenets: "First, do nothing I consider unkind; second, Loyalty; third, conquer more worlds."

[Super Block Man]: Offer Faith or conquer a world to receive Power of Faith.

After saying this, Ian sent the Power of Faith Exchange List to the group. Lyon carefully examined the items on the list, which included everything from basic Physique Enhancement to Divine Spells, and from ordinary Wooden Swords to Artifacts.

[AAA Terra Toilet Wholesale]: Is that true, My God?

Lyon replied half-jokingly, but his eyes were serious.

Although he had fought for the Emperor in the Warhammer World for over a century, Lyon was still, at his core, the ordinary man from modern society.

He possessed a flexible moral compass and a pragmatic way of thinking, which was one reason he had survived in this brutal universe until now.

Before transmigration, he was just a corporate drone working nine-to-nine, worrying about his mortgage and car loan, occasionally seeking momentary escape in video games.

Now, facing a true God who could offer tangible rewards, his choice was almost inevitable.

Most modern people are atheists, but what if one day a real God appears before you, offering everything you desire—money, power, authority—and all he asks for is your Faith and Loyalty? Would you refuse?

What's more, conquering worlds for him offers even greater rewards. Who could refuse such terms?

'He has to be a God. I'd fight anyone who says otherwise,' Lyon secretly thought.

And more importantly, this God was human, or at least maintained a human way of thinking in terms of ideology.

This was far more reliable than the Five Chaos Gods.

[Super Block Man]: Believing in another God in the Warhammer World will get you labeled a Heretic. Are you sure about this decision?

[AAA Terra Toilet Wholesale]: It doesn't matter. I'm utterly disappointed with this rotten Imperium anyway, and you know the Emperor can't stand up. If he stands up, Mankind will surely be wiped out.

As Lyon made his decision, an unfamiliar yet warm Power of Faith flowed within him, establishing a connection with Ian through the Group Chat.

The feeling was both strange and familiar, like finding a long-lost sense of belonging.

Ian sensed an unfamiliar Power of Faith establishing a connection with him; a new Believer was born—Lyon had officially become his Believer.

"Welcome, my Believer," Ian's voice sounded in Lyon's mind with a hint of a smile. "You are my first and will be my most important Believer in the Warhammer World."

"What do you want to do next?"

"Simple: kick the Four Gods, and restore the Imperium of Man," Lyon's eyes glittered with anticipation.

"That's no small wish." He then opened the Transmutation Tablet, retrieved an Energy Collector, and sent it to Lyon.

"This is an Energy Collector. It gathers world energy to construct an Interdimensional Portal."

"What do I need to do?"

"Just place it in your world. It will work by itself. Once the energy is sufficient, I can go over there."

Lyon accepted the Red Packet and took out the square device. The moment he retrieved the Energy Collector, the world warped.

Countless whispers flooded his mind like a tide: "Kill... change... desire... decay..." The words overlapped, making him dizzy.

The surrounding air began to twist, space was torn, and Immaterium energy surged out.

Lyon instinctively recoiled, but there was nowhere to escape.

His eyes were forced to witness sights that should not exist in the material world. Countless Tentacles, deformed limbs, and twisted faces peered from the rift. This distortion nearly broke the will of the century-old veteran.

In this critical moment, a white light suddenly erupted from his body.

Ian's Power of Faith activated within him, forming a barrier that isolated the Immaterium's corruption.

"Put it away quickly!" Ian's voice rang in Lyon's mind.

Lyon quickly stuffed the Energy Collector into his System Space. As the device was put away, the gibbering whispers gradually dissipated, and the Immaterium Rift began to close.

However, before the rift completely vanished, Lyon was certain he saw several pairs of eyes staring at him.

Alarms blared suddenly, deafeningly loud.

"Warp energy detected! Lock down Sector D-7!" The frantic command of the commander came through the Legion's internal communicator.

The sound of disciplined footsteps echoed in the corridor. At least one squad of fully armed Astartes was rapidly approaching Lyon's quarters.

Ian observed the entire process through the weak Faith connection. 'Crap, I almost got him killed.'

It seemed his assessment of the danger level in the Warhammer World was severely inadequate.

He almost lost this high-value world due to a moment of carelessness.

Hearing the quickly approaching footsteps outside the door, Ian had a flash of inspiration: "Don't panic. Play along."

He then mobilized all the Power of Faith within Lyon and condensed it into a phantom image. An awe-inspiring figure began to materialize behind Lyon.

Bang! The door was kicked open. Over a dozen fully armed Ultramarines rushed into the room, their Boltguns aimed at Lyon.

However, the sight that greeted them caused every one of them to freeze—Lyon's eyes were blazing with golden light, his body floated mid-air, and behind him stood a majestic figure.

It was a giant clad in Golden Armor, his Halo crown as brilliant as the sun, his face both loving and stern.

Even as a mere Phantom, he exuded unparalleled majesty and divinity.

No one needed an explanation of who this was. Every citizen of the Imperium was taught from birth to revere and believe in this being.

"The Emperor..." the squad leader of the Astartes murmured, immediately dropping to one knee.

Ian himself was surprised; the image he had created was far more real than expected. With the Power of Faith he currently possessed, it should have been impossible to create such a lifelike Emperor Phantom.

Just then, Ian suddenly looked through the Immaterium and saw a golden giant sitting on a huge, pitch-black Throne, his gaze fixed directly on Ian.

It was the Emperor!

The Emperor nodded lightly to Ian, as if to an old friend of many years, and then a tremendous force injected itself into the Phantom Ian had created.

The false image instantly became incomparably real. Golden light illuminated the entire room.

Everyone at the doorway—both Gene-Seed enhanced Astartes and ordinary Human Auxiliaries—knelt on the ground, paying their respects to the Emperor.

The Emperor Phantom slowly spoke, his voice vast and distant: "He is my Chosen Warrior. He shall pave a new path for Mankind."
