Chapter 134 - Chapter 134: An Unsolved Mystery

"Great Tornado!" WarGreymon unleashed another flaming tornado that slammed into NeoMyotismon. The tremendous impact and destructive force drove NeoMyotismon back again and again, until it finally crashed heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"Terra Force!" A massive energy sphere detonated against NeoMyotismon's body on the ground, erupting into a towering pillar of explosive flame. The shockwave whipped up a gale that swept the dust and smoke everywhere, forcing the kids to shield their faces with their sleeves.

"Cardiac Raid!" NeoMyotismon gathered dark energy, gradually filling the crescent moon on its chest until it brimmed with power, then fired a brutal strike. WarGreymon's surroundings were swallowed by darkness—only the side facing NeoMyotismon held a thin sliver of light.

"Brave Shield!" WarGreymon swung the shield from his back to the front. The energy column smashed into the Brave Shield, sparking a violent burst of light. WarGreymon was shoved backward by the overwhelming force as a sky-piercing beam appeared on the horizon and kept extending. He gritted through it, bracing the shield, but the pressure pushed him higher and higher—until he was nearly out of the kids' sight.

WarGreymon flipped his body and burst out of the energy wave, diving down fast. At the same time, he began compressing another blast between his hands. "Terra Force!" A Terra Force even larger than before came crashing down.

It struck NeoMyotismon just as it was trying to rise. The ground went dead silent for a heartbeat—then it shook like an earthquake. The sudden tremor sent the kids stumbling and reeling. Over by NeoMyotismon, endless flames incinerated the surrounding vegetation completely, and a huge crater formed as smoke and firelight swallowed NeoMyotismon from view.

"Terra Force!" WarGreymon aimed at the dark vortex that was continuously spewing out Evil Bill and fired again. With a deafening explosion, the black vortex began to fade away. The Evil Bill still left alive let out a mournful cry, their eyes turning vicious as they abandoned the others and rushed straight for WarGreymon.

"Flame Tornado!" WarGreymon released a wave of fire from both hands, detonating the incoming Evil Bill in mid-charge.

"Bloody Stream Raid!" From within the smoke and fire, four black claws shot out and wrapped tightly around WarGreymon from behind, binding him hard.

"Oh no!" The kids screamed when they saw WarGreymon in danger.

"Philosopher's Stone!" Wisemon opened his book. A faint stone covered in intricate runes flew out like a blade, streaking straight toward NeoMyotismon's claws.

Whoosh—!

The Philosopher's Stone sliced through two of NeoMyotismon's arms in a flash, then looped back through the air and severed the other two as well.

"Terra Force!" The moment WarGreymon broke free, he formed another blast and smashed NeoMyotismon—now back on its feet—down to the ground again. Then Terra Force after Terra Force rained down on it like they cost nothing at all.

Boom! Boom!

Explosions roared one after another, and the ground shuddered with each blast. NeoMyotismon's body had been reduced to a tattered wreck—one wing remained, and even that was shredded. All four arms were gone. Both legs were nothing but bone frames, and several holes had been blasted through its chest. It was practically just an empty shell now… yet its mouth still kept repeating:

"I… want… revenge…"

"That looks terrifying…" The horrifying state NeoMyotismon was in made Sora, Mimi, and the other girls cover their eyes, unable to look.

"Darcmon—Digivolve into Angewomon and purify it," WarGreymon said as he flew back to the kids' side.

"I understand." Darcmon de-Digivolved into Gatomon, then looked at Kari. "Kari."

"Okay, Gatomon." Kari pulled the Crest of Light out from around her neck.

"Gatomon, Digivolve to… Angewomon!"

"An angel?!" Matt's father stared in disbelief at Angewomon. A cat turning into an angel in a flash of light was already unbelievable—and it was obviously a female angel at that. He was completely stunned… especially because Angewomon's outfit was far too revealing.

Davis's jaw dropped again. "Angewomon…" He'd heard T.K. say that Kari's Gatomon could Digivolve into Angewomon, and he'd even seen the Mega-level Ophanimon before—but this was the first time he'd seen Angewomon up close. She was only a few meters away. That tall figure and skimpy outfit made Davis not even know where to look.

Angewomon flew to WarGreymon's side. The three pairs of snowy wings behind her began to shine, bathing the battered NeoMyotismon in pure light. The moment that clean radiance touched it, NeoMyotismon started to melt little by little. It tried to approach Angewomon, but under the light, every step became agonizingly difficult.

"T.K., I'll help too," Pegasusmon said, de-Digivolving into Patamon as he looked up at his partner.

"Okay, Patamon." T.K. raised his D-3 Digivice toward Patamon.

"Patamon, Digivolve to… Angemon!"

"A-another one?!" Matt's father was even more shocked this time. This angel had come from the little plush-toy-looking thing his younger son hugged all day. His jaw practically hit the floor again.

Angemon flew to Angewomon's side, and his six wings flared with light. "Holy Light!"

With Angemon joining in, the sacred radiance grew even stronger, and NeoMyotismon's melting accelerated dramatically.

"Final blow—Heaven's Charm!"

"Heaven's Knuckle!"

With Angewomon and Angemon's finishing attacks, the light nearly drowned NeoMyotismon completely. When the glow faded, NeoMyotismon was gone—without a trace. Apart from the wrecked street, the scorched trees, and the massive crater left behind, there was no sign of NeoMyotismon anywhere.

"It's finally over…"

WarGreymon, Angewomon, and Angemon flew back to the kids. Wrapped in light, they de-Digivolved into Agumon, Gatomon, and Patamon.

Wooo—wooo—wooo—

Sirens were already wailing in the distance—and it sounded like more than one police car. With this much chaos, it would've been stranger if nobody called the police.

"Let's get out of here," Matt's father suggested. The kids were still holding Digimon—if the police saw that, it would be impossible to explain.

"Yeah." The kids quickly followed him. Thankfully, he knew the area inside and out after working here for years. He led them through narrow alleys, slipping away from the TV station and avoiding the police blockade.

When they finally reached Matt's home, everyone could breathe again. Even though most of them hadn't fought, witnessing that battle was unbelievably intense. And this time it happened right in front of them—the battlefield was only about a hundred meters away. If NeoMyotismon had fallen the wrong way, it could've crushed the kids.

Matt's father took a long drag of his cigarette, looking at the kids sitting nearby. Gatomon lay in Kari's arms as Kari stroked her smooth fur. Gatomon squinted comfortably, looking no different from an ordinary house cat. It was hard to connect her to the seductive yet holy-looking Angewomon from earlier. Over by T.K., Patamon sat on top of his head as boy and Digimon chatted about something. Patamon's tiny limbs, big watery eyes, and small bat wings—paired with that little body—made it even harder to link him to the tall, imposing angel from before.

Matt's father felt something inside him shatter—no, not just shatter, but shatter into dust. With a bit of dark amusement, he even wondered what religious people would think if they saw what "angels" really looked like.

"T.K… Matt…" Hiroaki Ishida took a hard drag, like he'd finally made up his mind, and spoke. "So… you've been fighting monsters like that?"

"They're not monsters—they're Digimon!" Cody argued, displeased.

"Then what about that thing from earlier?" Hiroaki Ishida frowned.

"That…" Cody had no answer.

"Dad, normally it isn't like this," T.K. hurriedly explained. "Those kinds of Digimon are only a small number. Most Digimon are friendly. So you don't have to worry about us."

"Three years ago, it was the same," Hiroaki Ishida said quietly. "You left without a word, went to that unknown world. We didn't know what happened to you there. Then later, a terrifying monster appeared in the sky, and some children were there too. I couldn't see clearly… but I knew it was you. Why do you have to fight such terrifying monsters?" He lowered his head as the cigarette burned between his fingers, thin smoke curling up.

"Because if we don't fight, the Digital World will be taken over by the bad guys," T.K. said, looking at Patamon. "Then all the kind Digimon will lose their homes."

"And what does that have to do with us?!" Hiroaki Ishida suddenly stood up and shouted.

"Dad!" T.K. stared at him, startled by the outburst.

Seeing the Digimon all staring at him with wide eyes, he sat back down. "Sorry. I just…"

"It's okay, T.K.'s dad," Patamon said as he fluttered down from T.K.'s head and stood on the table. "I know you're worried about T.K. But I'll protect him. I won't let him get hurt—not even a little."

"Dad, those evil Digimon don't just want to take over the Digital World—they want to invade our world too," T.K. said firmly. "Three years ago, Myotismon came from the Digital World to ours and tried to conquer this place. So we're not just doing it for Patamon and the others—we're doing it for ourselves, too."

"But why does it have to be you?" Hiroaki Ishida clutched his head and spoke in a low voice. "You're just kids."

"Why can't it be us?" T.K. stood up, voice rising with emotion. "We love the Digital World, and we like Digimon. If we were chosen, then we have to take responsibility."
