Chapter 127 - Chapter 129: The Hokage's Plan to Slack Off

Morning, Hokage's Office.

Sunlight lazily spilled onto the floor through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating a few floating dust particles in the room clearly.

Outside the window was a sunny scene unique to autumn in Konoha. The sky was as blue as a freshly washed canvas, with a few white clouds drifting leisurely.

Pedestrians came and went on the streets, all with peaceful smiles on their faces. Occasionally, the energetic shouts of children could be heard from the Ninja Academy in the distance.

Everything seemed so peaceful, so beautiful.

However, inside the office, it was a different scene.

Sarutobi Hiruzen looked at the documents piled up like a mountain in front of him, which seemed endless, and felt his eyelids fighting a life-and-death battle.

On the left was the "Supplementary Budget Application and Feasibility Report for the Second Phase of the Naka River Reservoir Dam Project" submitted by Shimura Danzo.

It was as thick as a brick, detailing why an additional budget of three million ryo was needed to purchase a rare metal called "Vibranium" to reinforce the core coils of the generator.

On the right was the "Five-Year Plan for Winter Crop Rotation and Soil Improvement at Konoha Ecological Farm" submitted by Hatake Sakumo, which was equally impressive.

It used rigorous logic comparable to an assassination plan to analyze thirty-six possibilities of how the planting distance between radishes and cabbages affected yield, and even attached a ten-page "Research Report on How to Efficiently Fertilize Using the Excrement of the Inuzuka Clan's Ninja Hounds."

In the middle was the "Preliminary Concept for Establishing a Konoha Blood Bank and Promoting Universal Blood Type Census," jointly written by Tsunade and Orochimaru from the Konoha Hospital.

It was filled with various professional terms like antigens, antibodies, and cross-matching experiments that Sarutobi Hiruzen had "invented" himself but now gave him a headache just looking at them.

And "Suggestions on the Scope of Questions for the Final Exam of in the New Semester of the Ninja Academy" — Nara Shikaku.

"Danzo's application for repairing toilets at the construction site? Let me see... ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, millions... Hiss, does he need to apply for so much funding? Is this guy Danzo planning to put gold rims on the toilets????"

"Sigh..."

Sarutobi Hiruzen let out a long sigh and put the brush in his hand on the brush rack.

He leaned back, paralyzed in the wide chair symbolizing the Hokage's power, letting out a groan full of the bitterness of a corporate slave that only he could hear.

"Let it be destroyed, hurry up, I'm tired."

He looked at the leisurely white clouds outside the window, and the soul of a corporate slave burned ragingly inside him.

Why! Why do I, the Hokage, have to approve documents here all year round without rest, while those guys run outside one by one to realize their life values?

That guy Danzo is now giving directions on the construction site, admired by everyone, almost becoming the God of Construction in Konoha.

Sakumo deals with pigs and vegetables on the farm every day. It is said that the person his son Kakashi admires most now is not him, but the meritorious sow "Big Black Flower" on the farm that overproduced.

Even Orochimaru, the once gloomy youth, now spends all day in the laboratory, tinkering with his generator.

Two days ago, he even electrocuted himself into an afro because of a failed experiment, wandering around the village with charred curly hair for a day, attracting many chuunibyou and hot-blooded children.

Everyone lives such a fulfilling and happy life.

Only me, the Third Hokage, like an earth-bound spirit nailed to a chair, facing these papers that can kill invisibly every day.

Tired.

Really too tired.

He just wanted to put all this down, go outside to bask in the sun, eat a free meal at the Akimichi family's barbecue restaurant, or go to the training ground to see if those energetic little guys were slacking off.

Skip work.

This magic word, like the whisper of a demon, swirled frantically in Sarutobi Hiruzen's mind.

No, no, I am the Hokage, how can I have such depraved thoughts!

Everyone in the village is working hard for the future, how can I...

Sarutobi Hiruzen sat up straight abruptly and criticized himself righteously in his heart.

Then, he very skillfully formed a seal with his hands in front of his chest.

"Poof!"

A puff of white smoke cleared, and a shadow clone exactly like him appeared in the office.

The shadow clone looked around blankly, then at the mountain of documents in front of him, and finally his gaze fell on the main body's face written with "I want to slack off," his eyes instantly becoming incredibly resentful.

"Hey, you guy..."

Just as the shadow clone wanted to protest.

"Ahem."

Sarutobi Hiruzen interrupted him directly, then patted the shadow clone's shoulder, and said in an earnest tone, "Same old routine, you are the Third Hokage. The future of Konoha, the peace of the village, and the budget of tens of thousands of ryo are all on your shoulders alone. Work hard, I have high hopes for you."

Shadow Clone: "..."

Thank you so much!

"These again? Danzo's report, the handwriting is like ghost drawing talismans, it takes half a day to read each time. And Sakumo, can he stop writing farm reports in the Anbu format? Last time, for the postpartum care of a sow, he wrote thirty pages of risk assessment and response plans!"

The shadow clone complained while sitting down at the desk resignedly.

Sarutobi Hiruzen moved his somewhat stiff neck, patted his shoulder, and said in an earnest tone, "Thank you for your hard work. For the Will of Fire, I leave this to you."

"Get lost, get lost."

The shadow clone didn't even look up, having already picked up Danzo's report and started writing furiously.

"Alright!"

Sarutobi Hiruzen responded, his mood instantly becoming incredibly cheerful.

In the next second, his figure, like a ghost, silently flipped out of the open window, and with a few flashes, disappeared onto the rooftops of Konoha.

The whole process was smooth and flowing, done in one go, without alarming anyone.

Perfect.

The Anbu ninja patrolling the perimeter of the Hokage building were meticulously carrying out their duties.

They never dreamed that the Lord Hokage they were guarding had already slipped away smoothly.
