Chapter 35: All Who Disrespect Me Are But My Puppets
"Vivian, as my servant, today I grant you Piety. Any who show disrespect behind your back shall become my puppets."
Satan pressed Piety into Vivian's body.
Feeling the strangeness of the commandment, Vivian quickly grasped it.
"Thank you, Master. Any who slight you, I will enslave."
Reverence shone in her eyes. A thought rose in her heart: the commandment Satan had given her was strong, more domineering than a Devil Fruit, able to make others submit without a fight. But she had to grow stronger. Though she had known Satan only briefly, she could tell he was no ordinary man; to be his handmaiden, she had to become powerful.
"You two—what are you chattering about. Impel Down is no place for noise. Down you go for purification."
A sharp, girlish shout cracked the air. A whip snapped toward Vivian's back. Sadi meant to lash them straight into the scalding pool in the entry hall—"purification," a one-hundred-degree bath that flays the skin.
"Stop."
Giant Salli thrust out his massive hand. As Satan's stoutest spear and shield, he would allow no one to harm him—handmaiden included. But just as he moved, Satan shook his head, telling him to wait.
When the whip was about to strike Vivian, Sadi felt her body slip from her control.
Crack.
The lash smacked empty floor beside Vivian. Sadi's limbs shifted of their own accord—and she dropped to her knees.
"W-what's happening?"
Sadi was stunned. She had been made to kneel.
"Anyone who faces my back with hostility is counted as insulting my master. You shall bear the pain of enslavement," Vivian said, turning slowly, her expression serene. None may disrespect Satan.
"Damn it, a Devil Fruit user? Help me," Sadi cried. Her body would not obey.
Wooo—wooo—wooo.
Sirens wailed. Domino, Hannyabal, and others rushed in behind them. Seeing Sadi on her knees, fury flashed across their faces.
"Curse these criminals—causing trouble in Impel Down. Seize them," Hannyabal ordered, then blinked. "My ambition slipped out again."
A host of Impel Down soldiers surged toward Satan's group.
"Master, careful. Let me handle it," Salli bellowed. His colossal palm fell like a meteor, the force surging out like a tidal wave.
Boom.
In an instant, soldiers were flung through the air.
"W-what's wrong—my body won't listen."
"Damn it, stop—stop."
Under Salli's blow, the charging guards found their bodies out of their control.
"Any who face my back and disrespect me shall be enslaved," Vivian said, turning so her back was to them. At once, swathes of those who caught only her back lost command of their limbs.
"Devil Fruit user. Ready the seastone weapons," Hannyabal shouted.
"A mere brat, and you dare cause trouble in Impel Down. My justice will judge you," Domino snapped, furious. Garp had just delivered the prisoner, and now he was rioting. She moved to strike—only to feel a terrible pressure spill from Satan.
"What a hassle. I'll be in Impel Down for quite some time, won't I. Looks like I have to change the terms first," Satan said mildly, taking one step forward.
With that single step, an overwhelming aura poured out. Everyone felt the crushing weight. Heaven and earth seemed to dim; the only gleam was Satan—yet that gleam gave no warmth, only inexorable majesty, as if he were the sole sovereign under the sky.
Thud, thud.
Soldiers toppled one after another. Even the Den Den Mushi fainted.
"Conqueror's Haki," Hannyabal gasped.
"Conqueror's—how can it be this strong even with seastone on him," Domino growled, her body locking up. Under the endless pressure of his Haki, she trembled, her breath turning ragged.
"Let's get along from now on," Satan said with a grin, stepping to Domino's side.
"I will never bow to evil," Domino strained to say, but beneath the crushing will, she could not move at all.
"Then let your will be mine," Satan said, reaching for Domino's head.
