Chapter 76 - Master and Servant Vice Versa...?

The bed dipped slightly as Evelina lay back first, utterly unbothered by the unfamiliarity of the space. She didn't bother arranging herself properly, one leg bent, the other stretched out, arms folded behind her head as she stared up at the ceiling, as if she owned it.

I stood there for half a second longer than necessary.

"You're not going to stand there all night, are you?" she asked lazily. "If you are, I'll assume you're planning to do something reckless again."

"Is that really the only thing you think I care about?"

"Yes," Evelina replied without hesitation.

Fair point.

I moved to the bed and lay down beside her after a change of clothes, keeping a respectful distance, at least for now. The mattress was softer than I remembered, probably because I rarely ever used it.

At least, this version of me did.
