Chapter 2 - Ch - 2 (Roar from the Depths)

‎Deep within the mountains, a second roar echoed—

‎as if it had risen from the womb of the earth itself.

‎Every stone, every tree, every breath trembled with that vibration.

‎In Ashok's ears, only one sound remained—

‎his heartbeat.

‎He was trying to measure the distance

‎between the wolf and the source of that roar.

‎The air had turned cold,

‎but something warmer burned inside him—

‎an unfamiliar fire had begun to rise.

‎The wolf was now silent,

‎yet each breath it took was heavy,

‎every muscle drawn tight,

‎as if waiting for an unseen threat.

‎Smoke began to rise from between the trees—

‎not black, but blue.

‎In that blue haze, sparks of lightning flickered,

‎and the ashes on the ground trembled faintly.

‎Ashok felt it—

‎it wasn't an ordinary creature.

‎It was something else…

‎something beyond the bounds of nature itself.

‎The wolf flicked its tail,

‎growled deeply,

‎and stepped back—

‎its gaze fixed on a crack disappearing into the mountain's heart.

‎Something was coming from there.

‎Not footsteps—

‎but a faint, rhythmic pulse,

‎like the beating of a heart buried beneath the earth.

‎Ashok stood still,

‎his eyes locked on that dark crevice.

‎He slowly crouched,

‎placing his hand on the ground—

‎cold soil clung to his fingers.

‎He could feel the tremor beneath,

‎as if the earth itself were whispering to him.

‎The wolf dug its claws into the dirt, head bowed low.

‎Its eyes were no longer red—

‎they had turned a deep violet,

‎a blend of fear, rage, and vigilance.

‎A low voice escaped Ashok's throat—

‎"Who… is that?"

‎And then, the air tore apart.

‎A horrific scream—

‎like metal being split by lightning—

‎echoed through the entire valley.

‎The wolf leapt back,

‎cracks split open across the ground.

‎And from within the mountain's fissure,

‎two blue eyes shone—

‎still, cold, impossibly calm.

‎Ashok felt it—

‎the air no longer carried power,

‎but dominion.

‎Something that sought to bend everything to its will.

‎That was the moment—

‎when man, beast, and mountain

‎looked upon one another,

‎and none dared make the first move.

‎Those few seconds of silence

‎were so heavy that even the mountain's rocks began to crack beneath it.

‎A faint fracture…

‎and the stone wall slowly began to split open.

‎Ashok's breath turned to white mist.

‎His eyes glimmered—

‎"Two beasts… and I stand between them."

‎He smiled—

‎a smile without fear,

‎but full of defiance against destiny.

‎The wolf growled and stepped back,

‎as the second creature emerged from the shadows.

‎Its body was vast—like a living cave.

‎Its rear half resembled that of a bull—

‎strong, muscular, each step shaking the earth.

‎Its tail was a living serpent,

‎swaying gently through the air,

‎as if it could feel its master's every thought.

‎No sound came from that serpent's mouth,

‎but its eyes glowed blue—

‎a silent warning.

‎The creature's front half was that of a lion—

‎a thick mane, jaws of stone,

‎and fangs sharp enough to tear the air itself.

‎Dark markings pulsed across its hide,

‎like the symbols of some ancient power.

‎It was no ordinary beast—

‎it was one of those rare entities

‎capable of evolving into a demon in a single instant.

‎Ashok drew in a long, cold breath,

‎his gaze fixed on the monster.

‎He murmured to himself—

‎"Looks like I arrived just in time…

‎If this thing had already evolved,

‎every nearby city would've been wiped off the map."

‎He noticed—

‎the creature's aura seemed strangely weak,

‎so faint that even a junior master

‎might not have sensed it at all.

‎But Ashok knew better—

‎this "weakness" was an illusion.

‎It was the stillness before the storm.

‎He thought,

‎"For now, I just need to stay hidden…

‎I can't get caught between these two."

‎Then his eyes caught movement among the trees—

‎a large serpent, trapped between roots.

‎He frowned—

‎"That's the same snake I was about to kill."

‎But the wolf had appeared out of nowhere.

‎For a moment, I even forgot I was supposed to kill it.

‎And meanwhile…

‎The beast took another step forward,

‎and the ground split beneath its weight.

‎Every time its foot touched the soil,

‎blue flames burst from the earth—

‎as if the ground itself groaned under its power.

‎The wolf no longer backed away.

‎It dug its claws into the dirt,

‎and the silver streaks across its back began to glow—

‎like molten metal,

‎like fire burning within light.

‎Ashok understood —

‎this battle wasn't going to stop now.

‎His eyes darted toward the cluster of trees

‎where the giant serpent was trapped.

‎It was writhing restlessly,

‎as if it too could sense the storm of war approaching.

‎Meanwhile, the wolf and the demon clashed violently.

‎The air itself seemed to tear apart,

‎the earth trembled beneath them,

‎and the surrounding rocks shattered into pieces.

‎The wolf's growl and the demon's roar

‎merged into a single, deafening sound —

‎one unbearable for any human ear.

‎Ashok saw his chance.

‎He crouched low and slipped between the two titans mid-collision.

‎Each time they struck,

‎the shockwave threatened to hurl him backward,

‎but he steadied himself —

‎crawling swiftly through the trees toward the serpent.

‎The creature was still bound in vines,

‎its enormous body twisting in pain,

‎and its blue eyes glowing with an unknown energy.

‎Ashok scanned the ground —

‎a broken branch lay nearby,

‎its edge sharp like a blade.

‎He knew — this was his only chance.

‎He picked up the branch —

‎it was heavy, but his grip was firm.

‎He gathered every ounce of strength in his body

‎and with a fierce cry

‎struck the serpent's head with all his might.

‎A metallic echo rang out —

‎like iron colliding with iron.

‎The serpent convulsed wildly,

‎its tail smashing against trees

‎with such force that their trunks shook.

‎Dust and leaves whirled into the air,

‎as if a storm had been born at that very point.

‎Ashok staggered back,

‎but his eyes stayed fixed on the serpent.

‎He knew —

‎if he stopped to breathe now,

‎the next moment might be his last.

‎Moments later,

‎the serpent's body fell still.

‎The blue light in its eyes faded,

‎and finally went dark.

‎Behind him, the clash between the wolf and the demon raged on —

‎roars, impacts, flying stones.

‎But in the midst of it all, Ashok stood —

‎covered in dust, breathing hard,

‎yet a strange calm now glimmered in his gaze.

‎Then, suddenly, a mechanical voice echoed in his ears —

‎"Host ability 'Devour Evolution' has been activated."

‎The dead serpent before him burst into blue flames.

‎Its energy began to dissolve into the air —

‎and that energy flowed straight into Ashok's body.

‎The voice spoke again —

‎"The host has met a condition.

‎The creature devoured was a prime beast.

‎If it had evolved further,

‎it would have become a Tier-3 monster.

‎Because of the immense energy absorbed,

‎the host's evolution progress has completed at extraordinary speed."

‎For a moment, the air went still.

‎Ashok's breathing grew heavier,

‎but something within him was changing —

‎as though every cell was burning,

‎and being reborn at the same time.

‎"Congratulations, Host," the voice said,

‎"Your Naga Evolution Progress has reached 100%.

‎Your status window is now being updated."

‎In the next instant,

‎a blue, translucent window materialized before Ashok —

‎like a mirror forming in mid-air.

‎[Status Window]

‎Name: Ashok

‎Age: 7 years

‎Gender: Male

‎Hidden Ability: Devour Evolution (Grade – Supreme)

‎Strength: 2.6

‎Agility: 2.5

‎2. Rabbit Evolution — 0.1%

‎---

‎A voice spoke ahead —

‎"Since the host has completed Devour Evolution for the first time,

‎the host is being granted a special Authority.

‎With the help of this Authority, you can, through your window,

‎see the status of any demon, human, or other living or non-living being."

‎The blue window began to glow softly —

‎as if it was no longer just information,

‎but a doorway to power.

‎Ashok took a deep breath.

‎There was no fear in his eyes anymore — only understanding.

‎He thought to himself —

‎"So that means... whenever my Evolution Progress reaches 100%,

‎my Strength and Agility increase by +1.

‎But until I turn 18,

‎I cannot awaken the genes of any demon."

‎He smiled — faintly, but firmly.

‎"No problem...

‎Until then, I will surpass the limitations of many evolutions.

‎I will add many creatures to my collection.

‎And the day I turn 18 —

‎that day, my power will multiply a thousand times."

‎The blue light in the air slowly sank into the earth,

‎and around Ashok once again echoed the sound of battle —

‎the clash between the wolf and the giant shook the whole valley.

‎With every strike, stones shattered,

‎and the sky was covered in ash.

‎The growls of the wolf and the roars of the giant

‎resounded like a war song.

‎The giant — Basiltaur,

‎whose body was a fusion of three beasts:

‎the strength of a bull behind,

‎the venom of a serpent in its tail,

‎and the fury of a lion in front.

‎Its eyes burned with blue fire,

‎and every breath carried poisonous smoke.

‎Ashok watched this scene from afar.

‎He now knew this was no ordinary clash —

‎it was a battle of powers beyond human imagination.

‎The wolf was now exhausted.

‎Its breaths were broken,

‎its moonlike eyes dimming.

‎And then —

‎Basiltaur roared.

‎It charged with Infernal Horn Charge —

‎flames and smoke burst together.

‎The wolf couldn't escape —

‎its body was hurled through the air and fell far away.

‎Anger and fear both showed on Ashok's face.

‎He shouted —

‎"System! Show me its status!"

‎The blue window flashed, and words appeared before him:

‎Ashok's eyes hardened.

‎He gave the next command —

‎"Now show me the wolf's status."

‎---

‎Ashok looked at the wolf's condition.

‎Dust swirled around it, its breathing was heavy,

‎but there was still fire in its eyes.

‎In that fire, Ashok recognized something —

‎it wasn't fear, it was the will to live.

‎The next moment, the giant struck again,

‎and both stepped back together.

‎For a moment, their eyes met —

‎no words, just an understanding.

‎It wasn't the first time they had seen each other,

‎but this time, it was different.

‎Now it wasn't just a battle —

‎it was the crossing of two paths,

‎both seeking strength.

‎They both knew —

‎if they didn't stand together now,

‎this giant would destroy them.

‎Without a signal,

‎the wolf leaped to the left,

‎and Ashok attacked from the right.

‎From that moment —

‎they were no longer enemies,

‎but two warriors standing together,

‎forged by circumstance.

‎---

‎Basiltaur's roar thundered again —

‎he charged with all his might.

‎Ashok rolled on the ground, dodging its grip,

‎and the wolf clamped its jaws on the giant's tail from behind.

‎But the giant's body was like fire —

‎the wolf's fur began to burn.

‎Ashok immediately punched with his right hand,

‎the air cracked with his strike —

‎but the giant didn't even flinch.

‎Then, with one swing, it smashed them both down.

‎Ashok and the wolf hit the ground hard,

‎dust rising, the valley's air turning heavy.

‎When the dust settled —

‎both were lying still,

‎and before them stood that creature —

‎Basiltaur,

‎now in its true form.

‎Now it was in its real form —

‎Basiltaur.

‎Its body suddenly expanded,

‎muscles bursting outward,

‎bull-like legs cracking the earth,

‎the tail whipping — scattering venomous light in the air.

‎The blue fire in its eyes deepened,

‎and with each breath, not smoke,

‎but volcano-like flames erupted.

‎The earth trembled,

‎the air filled with the stench — of poison and burning flesh.

‎Ashok and the wolf lay on the ground.

‎The wolf's body bore burn marks,

‎and blood was flowing from Ashok's arm.

‎As he tried to rise,

‎the wolf's warm blood fell upon his hand.

‎At that moment —

‎the system's blue light burst before him.

‎---

‎[System Notification]

‎[Moon Slash]

‎[Lunar Mirage]

‎---

‎Ashok took a deep breath.

‎His eyes fell upon the falling wolf —

‎"Your fight isn't over yet... neither is ours."

‎He clenched his fist and said —

‎"I choose — Moon Slash!"

‎Blue flames gathered into his fist.

‎He stood up,

‎and at that moment, in the wolf's eyes,

‎moonlight shimmered once again.

‎The wolf used its remaining strength

‎to activate Lunar Mirage —

‎an illusion that covered the valley

‎in a layer of moonlight.

‎Basiltaur roared —

‎around him now stood dozens of Ashoks and wolves.

‎Shadows danced in every direction,

‎and his three heads growled in confusion.

‎"Now!" — Ashok's voice echoed.

‎The wolf sprinted to the right like lightning,

‎and Ashok leaped from the left.

‎Their movements were in rhythm, bound by trust.

‎Basiltaur swung its tail —

‎the ground split open,

‎an explosion of fire erupted —

‎but it was only an illusion.

‎The real Ashok had reached behind him.

‎He raised the moonlit blade in his hand,

‎and with all his might, leapt —

‎"Moon Slash!!"

‎The blue streak tore through the air,

‎striking straight on its lion-like forehead —

‎the point where the three beasts' souls converged,

‎its weakest spot.

‎Moonlight sliced through its forehead,

‎and a scream of poison and fire echoed through the valley.

‎Basiltaur staggered,

‎its heavy legs sank into the earth,

‎and with one final roar,

‎it collapsed —

‎the valley trembled.

‎Through the dust and smoke,

‎Ashok and the wolf were thrown far away.

‎For a few moments, nothing moved.

‎Then slowly, the air cleared —

‎the giant lay on the ground,

‎its massive body motionless.

‎Ashok lifted his head, gasping for breath,

‎and the wolf came to stand beside him.

‎They looked at each other —

‎tired, wounded, but alive.

‎Slowly, they both stood up,

‎and together

‎faced the fallen body of Basiltaur.

‎In the air now lingered only the scent of ash and victory.

‎Ashok placed his hand on the wolf's head —

‎"Now we're not enemies...

‎We're partners."

‎The wolf bowed its head,

‎and behind them, under the rising moonlight,

‎two shadows became one.

‎The moon behind them shone brighter —

‎as if it had become the witness of their victory.

‎Suddenly, a mechanical voice echoed in Ashok's ears —

‎---

‎[System Notification]

‎"Yes… begin."

‎---

‎[System: Beast Stone Activated]

‎> "The Wolf's rank is evolving from A → S."

‎"New powers and abilities are being installed…"

‎Suddenly, bluish moon flames burst out from the wolf's body.

‎Its fur, once black, now shimmered in shades of silver-blue.

‎And in its eyes, where once moonlight glowed,

‎now flickered blue and golden fire.

‎Every breath it took released a thin mist —

‎and within that mist, faint flames danced.

‎The blue glow of the system spread before Ashok once more —

‎[System Update]

‎> "The host now has permission to copy any skill of his companion."

‎"Devour Evolution has been activated."

‎"Absorbing energy from Basiltaur's body…"

‎"Lion Evolution Process – 10% complete."

‎Ashok opened his fist —

‎the air around him had grown dense and hot,

‎as though Basiltaur's power

‎was slowly merging into his body.

‎After accepting this strength,

‎Ashok and his companion, Shadow Fang — now the Lunar Pyrofang Wolf —

‎stood quietly side by side.

‎Midnight had passed;

‎the air was still filled with the scent of ash and smoke.

‎Ashok looked up at the sky —

‎the moon was beginning to descend.

‎He took a deep breath and thought,

‎> "Tonight, I gained so much…

‎Now I must return home."

‎He leapt —

‎his speed now many times greater than before.

‎The mountain peaks were beneath his feet.

‎As he flew across the valley,

‎he realized —

‎"This battle has flattened an entire valley…"

‎Blue flame marks still glowed across the ground.

‎"I must reach home quickly,"

‎he murmured to himself —

‎and moved on.

‎In just one hour and thirty minutes,

‎Ashok had covered five hundred kilometers.

‎He was now stronger than ever before.

‎He quietly slipped in through his house window,

‎lay gently on his bed.

‎Beside him was Shadow Fang —

‎who, using his new Evolution Power,

‎had shrunk his size,

‎looking like an adorable little dog.

‎The two curled up beside each other and slept.

‎Moonlight streaming from the window filled the room,

‎and in that silvery glow, the night slowly passed.

‎---

‎Morning light fell across his face.

‎Ashok's eyes opened —

‎the clock showed 10:00 a.m.

‎He got up quickly and went straight to the washroom.

‎A few moments later, when he came downstairs,

‎he saw only his grandfather watching TV.

‎Ashok asked,

‎> "Where's everyone else?"

‎Without changing the channel,

‎Grandfather replied,

‎> "Everyone's gone toward the mountain.

‎They say half the mountain has been completely leveled.

‎Looks like a battle between powerful demons took place there.

‎And I heard… there was even a Great Demon."

‎Ashok answered calmly,

‎> "If there really was a Great Demon,

‎you would have felt its energy, Grandfather."

‎Grandfather smiled,

‎> "You're right… but still,

‎something big did happen there."

‎---

‎Then Grandfather began to explain —

‎that even beasts in this world have ranks,

‎and each rank carries a different level of Demon Gene.

‎> 1. Normal Beast Rank:

‎Those who eat their flesh before the age of 18

‎awaken F-rank or E-rank demon genes.

‎> 2. Wild Beast Rank:

‎By consuming their genes,

‎one can awaken E-rank or D-rank demon genes.

‎> 3. Prime Beast Rank:

‎If someone consumes these before turning 18,

‎they awaken C-rank or B-rank demon genes.

‎> 4. Demonic Beast Rank:

‎These creatures possess a special stone —

‎called a Beast Stone,

‎which exists in two types — Normal and Rare.

‎> Absorbing a Normal Beast Stone grants an A-rank demon gene.

‎Absorbing a Rare Beast Stone grants an S-rank demon gene.

‎> 5. Mythic Beast Rank:

‎Reaching this level is almost impossible.

‎Only a handful of such creatures exist in the world.

‎> They carry two new types of Beast Stones —

‎Epic Grade and Legendary Grade.

‎> The one who absorbs an Epic Stone

‎awakens an SS-rank demon gene.

‎> And the one who absorbs a Legendary Stone

‎awakens an SSS-rank demo
