Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Challenge Mode Unlocked

Out of ten customers who bought spicy stir-fried rice cakes, nine chose to throw them away, and the remaining one is either a fellow compatriot or an Asian.

On the contrary, quite a few people asked about fish cakes, but she didn't cook them today.

"Strange, didn't the Great Xia people next door sell spicy mixed vegetables yesterday? Why was their business so good? Or should I just sell small dishes directly?"

The Kimchi Lady felt she might have found the hidden highlight and hurriedly took down the menu, but hung it back up half a minute later.

[Spicy Stir-fried Rice Cakes 12€]

[Rice Cake Sausage Skewers 5€]

[Spicy Kimchi 3€]

[Radish Kimchi 3€]

[Sauced Perilla Leaves 4€]

[Pickled Sweet Onions 2€]

[Spicy Sauce Scallions 3€]

[Spicy Sauce Chives 3€]

Sure enough, after the menu change, people actually started buying small dishes separately.

The only thing that displeased the Kimchi Lady was that all the diners who tasted her food went to the Great Xia Food Truck next door to buy desserts.

"Ah Xi, isn't that shop selling mixed vegetables? Why did they change to desserts again? Changing the menu every day, it's impossible to build customer loyalty!"

Grumbling, her gaze frequently glanced at the jelly-like bowls held by street diners.

"This thing looks like jelly? If it were shaved ice, wouldn't it be fruit slushy? They give so much fruit and only sell it for 5€, do they know how to do business? At least sell it for 15€ to make a profit!"

"That sushi shop sells each set for dozens, and since that Brasil People store lowered the price, it's bearable, but now a poor Great Xia person comes, selling even cheaper, what horrible market competition!"

"Oh My!"

Suddenly a young person popped up in front of the cart, curious after seeing his mom staring over there.

"What are you looking at, oh, a new competitor? Selling desserts?"

"Yeah, look at the stuff that guy sells, such a big bowl with so much fruit, and only selling it for 5€, surely trying to pull customers away, not letting us earn money, this won't do."

The young person's eyes rolled around a few times, his mouth curling up into a smile: "Don't worry Mom, I'll go buy one to try it out, see if we can make it ourselves, looks pretty simple, isn't it just jelly powder?"

The woman's eyes lit up, "Yes, yes, that's about right, and this shop seems to only set up late at night, we can learn it and sell it during the day, look at how many people buy it, surely no shortage of customers!"

"Leave it to me!"

Busy Lin Chen was completely unaware he was already being watched by his peers, he continued switching back and forth between cutting fruit and packaging.

Some diners initially worried about the quality of these open-air displayed fruits, but seeing the owner handle everything on the spot while queued up, any small worry instantly vanished.

By half-past eleven, the full large bucket of ice jelly and two baskets of fruit were completely emptied.

Just counting the packaging boxes, roughly estimated at least three hundred were used.

After sending off the last two diners, seeing there was a little bit left at the bottom of the bucket, Lin Chen directly made a bowl for Lucas.

"Here, fellow countryman!"

Lucas didn't stand on ceremony, took it and drank.

Don't underestimate staying nearby to help for over an hour, but it was all talking work, his throat was already dry from shouting, a bowl of refreshing mint jelly was just what he needed.

"Speaking of Lucas, are you currently unemployed? Or just on a hometown tour?"

This guy came for four days straight, voluntarily helped every day, Lin Chen couldn't resist asking.

Surely it couldn't be purely for free food?

"Don't know yet, haven't thought about it."

Lucas shrugged frankly, "My dad and mom are completely hands-off, both went on a global tour, I graduated and found some temporary jobs in Great Xia, but since I haven't received a green card yet, I can't stay, just temporarily back for a while."

"I'm not suitable to seek jobs here either, temporary work is mostly dishwashing stuff, unnecessary, was just worried about having nothing to do until I met you, fellow countryman!"

He took a big chunk of watermelon, took a bite, looked at the heavy, already filled small basket.

"Fellow countryman, you ought to know how difficult it is to taste authentic Great Xia Cuisine abroad, and coincidentally my major is media, if you don't mind, shall we partner up to create a public account or short video account or something?"

"Look at your accomplishments from just over an hour, a sensation only needs a catalyst!"

Media is yet to popularize abroad, but the international version of TikTok has successfully penetrated the enemy's territory and attracted a large number of users.

The foreign market is vast, with less competition, now let's see who can first seize this wave of bonuses.

If there's difficulty, it can only be a matter of taste.

"Indeed, to a certain extent, publicity is necessary."

Lin Chen nodded in agreement, showing slight difficulty: "But I can only set up around ten o'clock at night for five days a week, this timing is too late for most people, and this is not domestic, fewer people go out at night."

"Relying on just two days, it's kind of a drawback..."

"No, no, no, you don't understand."

Lucas confidently revealed a mysterious smile: "There's an old saying in Great Xia that says, rarity increases value, if you sell less, customer adhesion will instead increase, aren't there many businesses in Great Xia that only operate for two or three days a week yet still buzzing with business?"

"That's quite true..."

Lin Chen thoughtfully held his chin.

The system task given does not mandate, whether to set up or not depends on him, only when he sets up does it start calculating positive ratings.

He just paid a deposit at the hospital, although the remaining amount is quite substantial, it's not urgent in the short term.

Thinking of this, he took the basket and began counting today's earnings.

"One thousand six hundred and twenty? Oh my goodness!"

More than he imagined, he initially thought selling just over two hundred portions would be quite good, little did he expect to sell over three hundred.

Subtracting costs, ice jelly costs can be ignored, it's all water, only the fruit price counts, net profit approximately a thousand or more.

If this trend continues, earning a thousand each weekday, plus two days off with longer operation times.

From one week, wouldn't he earn almost ten thousand euros?

[Ding, statistics complete, this setup accumulated 312 positive rating points, task accomplished!]

[Received specified Recipe Exchange Voucher*1]

[Exceeded the needed task praise points by more than 150%, praise rate reached 99%, received an additional bonus of 5000 euros]

[Accumulated completion of three setup tasks, achievement gained: Novice Vendor, received Food Truck Upgrade Card*1]

[Ding, challenge task unlock!]

A series of system prompts suddenly rang in his ear, Lin Chen's expression didn't change, pretending to count money, while fully focusing on reading the explanation of the newly unlocked challenge task.

[The new challenge task mode is as follows...]
