Chapter 61 - Sudden Affection

Aldric stepped out of the small prison first and turned to the left path, his presence heavy as he led the way. His strides were steady, purposeful, as though the dungeon itself bowed to his authority.

Emily followed behind him, walking alongside the others.

No one spoke.

The silence was thick, broken only by the faint echo of footsteps against stone. Chains hung from the dungeon walls, clinking softly as they swayed. Bones, too many to count littered the ground, some crushed underfoot, others piled in corners like forgotten remains.

Emily's stomach twisted.

"What the hell did the vampires use her for?", she wondered, her gaze sweeping over the chains, the hooks, the dark stains that refused to fade no matter how old they were.

Her jaw clenched.

Liam walked a few steps behind, his thoughts far from the dungeon. His mind replayed the moment inside the prison, Aldric standing still, his voice low, apologizing to Emily.
