Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Where Did You Get It?

If it were just that, it would be fine.

Jiang Ran would even get Pei Jing, her son, to find food for her.

Thinking about this, Jiang Ran felt horrified.

Pei Jing, a little over three years old, how could he get food unless someone in the family gave it to him? What other way would there be?

But looking at the peanuts in Pei Jing's hand, Jiang Ran felt that it wasn't someone from the Pei Family who gave them to him.

Thinking this in her heart, Jiang Ran asked, "Little Jing, where did the peanuts come from?"

When Pei Jing heard Jiang Ran's question, his already big eyes widened further, and his dark, glossy eyes were filled with surprise.

In Pei Jing's memory, when he used to give food to Jiang Ran, she would snatch it and eat it immediately, then fiercely say, how come there's so little?

How come this time... it's different from before?

Pei Jing stared at Jiang Ran, and Jiang Ran stared back, waiting for Pei Jing to answer the question.

After all, Pei Jing was just a child and couldn't outlast Jiang Ran in a contest of endurance.

"I took it."

Took it?

Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow, "Where did you take it from?"

"From the seed bag."

Pei Jing said it calmly, but Jiang Ran felt horrified.

If he took it from the seed bag, that means these peanuts were specially chosen seeds meant for planting.

Since they are seeds, it's unlikely anyone would casually give them to Pei Jing to eat.

So, to put it nicely, he took them.

To put it bluntly, he stole them.

Thinking about it, Jiang Ran recalled Pei Jing occasionally bringing some food to the original protagonist.

Every time, it was just a little, and it was always something different.

Doesn't that mean...

Jiang Ran dared not think further.

Children are the purest, and adults must guide them properly so they don't go astray.

But with Pei Jing like this, he seemed on the verge of going astray!

Thinking about Pei Jing's ultimate fate in the original book, Jiang Ran felt goosebumps all over.

A villain is not made in a day; this clearly starts from a young age!

Jiang Ran took a deep breath and suppressed some of her excitement.

When she spoke again, her voice was much gentler.

"Little Jing, don't take things at random next time, understand?"

As long as she guides him well from a young age, Pei Jing definitely won't grow up to be a villain!

Pei Jing looked up, staring unblinkingly at Jiang Ran, "But aren't you going to eat?"

Jiang Ran shook her head hastily, looking stern and serious, "Not eating anymore!"

The child's already on the path to becoming a villain, what more should she eat!

Pei Jing nodded thoughtfully, "I understand."

Jiang Ran kept watching Pei Jing, and after hearing his words, felt horrified.

What does "understand" mean?

Why didn't he say he definitely won't take things anymore?

Just as Jiang Ran was about to give Pei Jing a heartfelt lesson, Pei Shanshan came walking in, swinging her hands.

It was obvious she had just finished washing up.

As soon as Pei Shanshan came in, she saw Pei Jing holding something and immediately walked quickly toward him.

Upon seeing the peanuts in Pei Jing's hand, she didn't say anything to him, just turned to glare at Jiang Ran with eyes wide open and puffed cheeks.

Jiang Ran swallowed, thinking Pei Shanshan was about to lose her temper.

But to her surprise, Pei Shanshan said nothing, just took Pei Jing in her arms and left, leaving Jiang Ran alone in the room.

Jiang Ran sighed, realizing that change was urgent and couldn't wait.
