Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Confessing My Depression

Wendy Aldridge and Zara Chapman felt wronged, but could only swallow their anger; under the cameras, they had to maintain their personas—as female artists, after filming the variety show, they'd still need to return home to work and earn money. If audiences started to hate them, that'd be a loss.

Thinking of how the viewers would see their hard work, the two felt a bit better. Their fingertips were bleeding, but they kept laboring at moving things, and every so often, they'd wipe sweat in the direction of a possible hidden camera, showing off their wounds.

It's not that everyone was purposely avoiding helping them move the stones—it's just that everyone had their own tasks. Lynn Miller and Gael Prescott went to gather firewood. Tonight, they needed open fire until dawn. The little bit of firewood Wendy and Zara collected just wasn't enough.
