"I guess not," Hailey admitted.

"Are you nuts?" Walter asked, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Maybe a little," Hailey laughed.

"Young people these days," Walter muttered, but he was smiling.

Hailey could only smile at Walter's reaction. She knew it probably seemed strange.

But she had been so caught up in how Eric made her feel that she hadn't thought much about the practical details of his life.

She watched as Walter shifted the heavy box in his arms. He was looking for a place to set it down. The cardboard was starting to look a bit damp from condensation.

She could tell it was getting heavy for him to hold.

"Here, let me help you with that," Hailey said, moving to help him.

"Thank you," Walter said gratefully. "My arms are getting tired."

"Let's take it to the kitchen," Hailey suggested.

A few minutes later, they had moved the box into the kitchen. Walter was examining the apartment with obvious approval.

"This is a nice place," Walter said, looking around.
