Chapter 12 - Episode 12 - Holding the reins

That week, everything went like a blur for Natalie. She visited her parents and stayed for three days at their house. On the second day, she sat her parents down and explained that she would be getting a divorce soon, asking them for their support as it was a tough decision for her.

Her feelings for Daniel were still strong. She loved him so much, and the only thing preventing her from changing her mind was the depth of his betrayal.

This was the man who promised her forever, who held her heart in his palm and had crushed it over and over and over again.

It was quite emotional for her mother; she cried a lot for her baby girl. Her dad was livid; she had to practically kneel, pleading with him not to call Daniel.

He didn't know of her intent to divorce him yet, and she needed to get a place and move her things while the divorce process was ongoing.

She needed this kept secret for now until she was psychologically and emotionally ready to commence.

Her dad and mum had agreed, wishing her the best amidst tears and hugs, and kisses.

She had taken a cab back to Kayla's to get her things together. Kayla and her had gone over houses in Q city in choice locations with nice features for her to buy. They had house hunted for three days because Kayla was extra about the location and security. They had settled for a luxurious villa in the Blue Orchid Estate. It was a three-bedroom villa boasting a pool, garden, and a patio. It had a massive driveway with water springs leading to the front porch. It was quite pricey, although not the most expensive house in the villa; it went for thirty-five million dollars.

Natalie had wired the funds from her investment account to the realtor after taking a virtual tour of the house with Kayla.

She had not intended such a pricey purchase, but looking at the house, she felt better; it was one of the things she felt was hers in a very long time.

Her investment account had raked in millions from her stockbroker. She had traded in a whole lot of stocks in the five years of marriage with Daniel, and although he had taken care of her by giving her a monthly allowance of five million dollars monthly which she never spent, she made sure not to leave it in her bank account.

She made a mental note to open another bank account when she got back to Q city, which she had control over.

Kayla was also scheduled to visit her sometime in the month to move her things; she already had an appointment with a divorce lawyer set in person. The only thing left was to get some staff for the house to take care of it, as she was going to be busy with shuffling between NYC and Q city because she had enrolled for her medical courses. Luckily for her, her professor was still at her school and helped with the process of continuing her studies from where she had dropped off.

She had to work hard.

Kayla and Natalie hugged goodbye while Natalie prepared to board the plane back to Q city.

She looked like a breath of fresh air in her sky-blue tweed skirt suit. The skirt was above her knee, showing off her creamy skin in all its glory. She had gone to the spa during her stay, so her skin appeared more supple, and her youthful glow was radiant. Her eyes shone with determination and grit.

Bit by bit, she would regain her power; the era of letting go of a man was over. She was going to live for herself now and enjoy it to the fullest.

Natalie stepped out of the airport and was suddenly surrounded by the paparazzi.

Who would have informed them she just got back into the county?

She smiled sweetly as she held her luggage. Suddenly, she saw Daniel alight from his orange Lamborghini and walk up to her, looking dashing and handsome in his white shirt and black pants.

Natalie smiled at the camera while she took in his appearance. He hugged her and kissed her on the forehead, then held her hand and walked her to the car, ignoring the flashlights.

She followed him, acting sweetly, and as soon as the vehicle sped off the airport, she picked up her phone to let Kayla know she had arrived and that Daniel had picked her up from the airport.

She then proceeded to inform her parents. She wasn't going to bother with how she knew she was arriving that day, despite not telling him. He was the almighty Daniel Clay; it was easy to know about a tiny bug living in the darkest hole if he wanted.

"You look breathtaking, babe." Daniel stole the umpteenth glance at her, she smiled, and continued chatting on her phone.

He smiled; he knew Natalie like the back of his palm. She was so easy to please.

He talked with her and she listened.

Natalie came down from the vehicle the moment they arrived home. She wasted no time waiting for Daniel as she walked towards the door, leaving Daniel with her suitcase.

He watched her hips sway as she walked confidently into the manor. He swallowed. He signaled to one of the maids in the premises to come pick up the suitcase, while he walked behind Natalie, pausing to observe as she walked away from him.

She looked elegant, her black hair was flowing down looking so sleek you could catch the sun ray gleaming light on it, and her legs- gosh, those long legs of hers were looking so perfect. There was a seductive way in which she moved; she looked like fire, little did he know that he was going to be the one on fire for her.
