Kendella didn't go back into the donor's room.
Not immediately.
Her hand hovered over the handle for a moment before she slowly stepped away from the door of Room 412. Her heart was still beating too fast, her mind spinning with the image of those dark eyes and that lazy, teasing smile.
Something about him didn't sit right.
People didn't just donate a liver to strangers.
Not people who looked like Jae‑Hyun Kim.
Kendella walked straight back to the nurses' station, folding her arms as she leaned against the counter.
"Excuse me," she said, trying to sound casual.
The nurse looked up from her computer. "Yes?"
"The donor in room 412," Kendella said carefully. "When did he arrive?"
The nurse glanced down at the chart.
"Early this morning."
"From where?"
"I'm not sure," the nurse said, scrolling through the system. "But he was transferred directly from the airport."
Kendella blinked.
"The airport?"
"Yes. A private medical transport picked him up."
That made her frown.
