Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: The Unexpected Visit of Stewie

Chapter 84: The Unexpected Visit of Stewie

After sorting out the general supernatural mechanics of this world, Chris and Ruby walked out of the Sawyer family's underground lair.

Arriving at their truck, Chris didn't put the chainsaw back in the vehicle bed. Instead, he stored it directly in his interdimensional wristband, along with Leatherface's iconic human skin mask.

No matter what, Leatherface was one of the four great horror movie serial killers in cinema history. Although this wasn't the authentic version from the original timeline, he was still valuable as a collector's item.

If Chris could encounter the other legendary killers in future universes, he could try to assemble a complete set of memorabilia.

However, among the four great serial killers—Leatherface, Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Krueger—only Leatherface was considered an ordinary human. The others were all supernatural to varying degrees.

With Chris's current power level, attempting to kill those entities would indeed be an extremely difficult undertaking.

But Chris could continue growing stronger, so he remained confident about eventually collecting personal items from all four legendary killers.

While Chris was indulging in these future fantasies, Ruby once again retrieved her grenade launcher and began a systematic bombardment of the Sawyer family's lair.

After dozens of explosive rounds, the entire amusement park complex had been reduced to flaming rubble, and the people of Texas would never suspect that the shadow that had hung over their communities for decades had finally been buried beneath the wreckage.

After completing this task, Ruby looked at Chris and asked, "Boss, what's our next move?"

Chris collected his thoughts and realized he still hadn't received any premonition about his return time to the main universe.

He wondered whether this world had elements from other horror films mixed in, or if he needed to actually kill the Wendigo itself to trigger his departure.

While making these speculations, Chris climbed into the passenger seat and casually instructed, "Continue along the previous route, hunting cannibal clans throughout the Texas region."

"Okay, boss."

Ruby nodded, got into the driver's seat, started the engine, and drove away from the smoking ruins.

For the past month and a half, they'd been systematically clearing out cannibal tribes across the New Mexico region under Ruby's guidance before entering Texas territory.

As for the purpose of this campaign, Chris had originally thought that since he couldn't return home yet, he might as well kill some cannibals to accumulate life essence.

Unexpectedly, upon entering Texas, he'd encountered the Leatherface family, and through studying their peculiarities, he'd confirmed the underlying supernatural rules governing this universe.

This discovery gave Chris even more reason to hunt cannibals and collect life essence.

First, it would make him substantially stronger. Second, he wanted to test whether his systematic slaughter of the Wendigo's spiritual descendants could force that damn entity to reveal itself.

With this strategy in mind, rumors of a demon-hunting duo began spreading across Texas.

As time progressed, such rumors even spread throughout most of the American Southwest.

As Chris's distinctive truck pulled up in front of a roadside tavern, everyone's attention was immediately drawn to it.

"Is that the truck? That bright red paint job, and all those crazy modifications."

Patrons in the tavern frequently glanced toward the windows and whispered among themselves.

"I think so. Besides them, other truckers don't have the money for such flashy customization."

"Hey, quit staring—they're getting out."

As the bartender quietly warned them, everyone quickly returned to their drinks, pretending they hadn't noticed Chris and Ruby entering the establishment.

"Need a room for the night."

As Chris pulled out cash, the bartender nervously accepted it, then retrieved a motel key and said with forced calm, "Third door on your left when you exit the bar."

Chris took the key and walked out of the tavern under the surreptitious stares of everyone inside. Taking Ruby's hand, he led her toward their room.

Scanning the dingy accommodations, Chris sighed, "As expected, I shouldn't have had any expectations for this kind of roadside motel. We should've just crashed at that cannibal couple's place we cleared out earlier."

After spending so much time together, Ruby and Chris had become quite comfortable with each other, and she'd loosened up considerably from her initial fearful servility.

Hearing Chris's complaint, she smiled and walked into the bathroom, saying over her shoulder, "I can't stand the smell of those places. That would definitely kill the mood."

Chris watched Ruby's retreating form, casually stripped off his clothes, and lay back on the bed, anticipating the upcoming activities.

"You're absolutely right. So I'll be on top later."

Ruby felt the nocturnal power surging through her enhanced body and smiled in agreement. "It's nighttime now, so of course you will be."

Just as Ruby was toweling off and Chris was waiting for her to emerge from the bathroom, his interdimensional wristband emitted a sudden flash of light.

Then a small child with a distinctively football-shaped head suddenly materialized in the room.

Seeing this, Chris exclaimed, "Holy shit! Stewie?"

Ruby, wrapped only in a towel, spotted the strange child. She immediately shrieked, "What the fuck? What kind of creature is this?"

Seeing Stewie's unexpected appearance, the startled Ruby assumed she was being attacked by some supernatural entity. With a fluid sidestep, she attempted to kick the oddly proportioned child away.

Fortunately, Chris reacted quickly. He blocked with one hand, then with a deft pull, Ruby was drawn onto the bed and into his protective embrace.

"This is my little brother. You don't need to be nervous—he's with me."

After calming Ruby down, Chris looked at Stewie and asked with confusion, "Stewie, why the hell are you here?"

As Stewie's body fully materialized in this universe, he didn't answer Chris immediately. Instead, he excitedly jumped onto Chris's stomach and began pummeling him ineffectually.

"Fuck you! What the hell have you been doing? Why haven't you come back for so long? Do you have any idea what I've been through for the past six months?"

Stewie's small fists patted Chris's face and chest, blocking his vision and making it difficult to respond.

Chris could only use one hand to lift the child away at arm's length, then said defensively, "What are you talking about? Didn't I already turn off the space-time synchronization device? Logically, time in the two worlds should've been completely disconnected!"

As soon as Chris had entered this universe, he'd deactivated the synchronization device precisely to prevent this situation.

But from Stewie's words, had the little bastard somehow tricked him? Was the shutdown function of the space-time synchronization device fake?

Chris stared at Stewie suspiciously until the child squirmed uncomfortably.

Then Chris noticed a modified bracelet on Stewie's wrist and deduced, "Did you mess around with the temporal mechanics, creating some way for only you to move in the main world? And because I haven't returned for so long, you couldn't stand the loneliness and came looking for me?"

As Chris finished his accusation, Stewie's small face visibly flushed red, and his expression became awkward.

Seeing this reaction, Chris knew his guess was essentially correct.

Realizing Chris had figured it out, Stewie gave up his defensive posturing and admitted, "Alright, alright, you're too damn smart. You're right."

"When I was modifying the wristband systems, I also created a temporal independence device, which ensures my ability to move normally during time-space stasis in the main universe.

But who the hell knew you'd be gone for so long this time? I've had enough of changing Megan's diapers by myself in that frozen world, so I created a dimensional shuttle device to come find you.

Let's go back right now! I've had enough of that silent, boring existence!"

Listening to Stewie's complaints, Chris suddenly noticed the foul odor emanating from the child.

Chris looked helplessly at Ruby and handed Stewie over to her.

Ruby clearly understood Chris's unspoken request and, without complaint, carried the smelly child into the bathroom to help wash him thoroughly.
