Chapter 16 - Chapter Sixteen

Dave's POV

Ryan can behave like he doesn't care about his bride but I can see right through him.

The office whore and gossip Cara made sure to report the absence of his wife to him. Now we just came for lunch at the cafeteria which he never does and found his wife beating the hell out of Cara.

Both of them halted at the sound of his voice and Elena scurried off Cara.

"She attacked me, Ryan, just because I questioned her about her absence today." Cara who previously had a snarl on her face began to shed crocodile tears at the sight of Ryan.

"I asked a question, what the hell is going on here?" He completely ignored Cara and faced Elena.

Ian who was beside me had a look of irritation towards Cara. We all detested the woman because she just doesn't know when to stop. She's always wanted Ryan and hasn't gotten over the one night stand they had.

"She hit me first and I just paid her back in her own coins." Elena said with a shrug and without a care in the world.

Cara heard this and intensified her fake tears.

"You have no right laying your hands on a member of staff in this company, in fact a senior staff member." Ryan roared at Elena, making her shrink back with a look of utter confusion.

I held him back and muttered in his ears. "Don't do this here, man."

Ian held his other arm. "Don't defend some whore over your wife, Ryan." He gritted his teeth in annoyance.

Ryan took a breath and said. "Elena, you're suspended for two weeks for this." Elena had tears brimming in her eyes. Rosalyn held her and gave her brother a death stare.

Cara had a sly smile on her face. He then gave her a look. "You too, Cara. You're suspended for two weeks."

Cara looked crestfallen and had a look of confusion thinking she was let off the hook.

Ryan pulled his hands off us both and walked briskly out of the cafeteria. Ian and I gave each other a stare and followed right after him.

We soon got to his office and stepped in sitting down. He kept pacing round the office.

"What did you just do out there, Ryan?" Ian asked, obviously irritated. He is the oldest of us all and we tend to listen to him.

"She is a brat that needs to be tamed. I've never been as embarrassed as this. Just imagine this making the headlines. My own wife, having a fight with a senior member of staff."

"I don't think anyone would be that stupid to get this altercation to the press. They will lose their jobs." I said to calm the situation down.

"I have so many enemies, they could easily use this."

"You've had worse allegations made towards you, why is this such an issue?" Ian asked, giving him a calculated look.

"She is a brat that thinks the world revolves around her. I wish I never got married or stuck with her. This is hell already and it is barely two weeks. This marriage is like the worst thing that has happened to me."

"I'm glad that I know how you feel about me." A feminine voice echoed from the doorway. I guess we didn't shut the door after stepping into the office. Elena had heard everything.

Ryan opened his mouth to say something but she just shut the door and her hurried footsteps showed that she had left.

"Wow, look at the damage you've caused." I said, sounding disappointed. "This may be a contract marriage but she isn't that bad. You are yet to say anything specific about her being a horrible person."

"I don't want to talk about this anymore. I need more information on the Viper. He almost destroyed my wedding. Charles called to say that the Viler had sent Elena's Mom to ruin the wedding."

"I would have never guessed that that junky is actually her Mom." Ian said with furrowed eyebrows.

"The story keeps getting more and more complicated. She was promised a few things and even a house of her own. She has been homeless for a while now."

"How can someone be so cold even towards their own child?" I questioned in surprise.

"She was hardly present in the life of the child. Based on what Charles told me she had left even before Elena became a teenager. It's such a mess, man."

"How do we at least curb the attacks of the Viper?"

"I've been able to get "four fingers", your protege's tormentor. He is in the cells at the warehouse. He is a tough nut to crack and has barely given any useful information. I don't even think he has any, he doesn't even know who he is taking orders from." Ian looked frustrated just as we all are.

Every time it looks like we're getting a lead it turns out to be just smoke.

"What do we do now?"

The door is pushed open and Rosalyn's sweet scent hits me. I turned almost immediately and she gave us three a stern look.

"How dare you humiliate her like that, Ryan? Have you lost every form of decency?"

"Get out of here, Rosalyn. We're discussing something important."

"No I won't! She's your wife, grow up and get it. Your little tantrums won't change that fact. You're stuck with her, get that into your thick skull. Treating her like trash will not help you." She screamed and banged the door hard.

The entire place went silent, we were all shocked at what was said.

"I'm scared of your sister." Was all Ian could muster after all was said.

I nodded and cleared my throat, I know that that was scary but it was HOT. I am so in love with that woman but I know Ryan will kill me if he ever finds out.

"Where were we?" Ryan said, clearly irritated.

"We are still unable to find out who the Viper is."

Ryan's phone rang out, a number showed on the screen. He picked it up.

"Reynolds."

"Sir, please we tried calling Mrs. Elena but she isn't picking up the phone."

"Who is this?"

"I'm Nonna Rita, a maid in the Thorns estate."

"Why do you need to reach Elena?"

"Her father Mr.

Charles just collapsed and has been rushed to the hospital."

Our eyes widened in absolute surprise.
