Chapter 5 Taking on Oscar as an Apprentice

"Hey Uncle, what are you doing here?"

Oscar had a deep impression of Lan Minghua; aside from children, he was the first person to eat sausages with such relish.

Even though he hadn't paid for them.

Before Lan Minghua could speak, Zhao Wuji urged him to make sausages.

"Hua-zai is the Dean's newly recruited teacher; you'll see each other often in the future. Now, make the sausages so Mu Bai and the others can eat them."

  "Okay, okay."

Oscar responded, and seeing no girls around, he openly recited the incantation.

  "I have a big sausage!"

His soul power surged, and a ball of light appeared in his hand.

The light dissipated, revealing two large sausages.

Zhao Wuji took them and personally fed them to Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun.

Oscar looked up at Lan Minghua, wanting to see his expression after hearing such an incantation.

Lan Minghua didn't find anything wrong with it; it was just an incantation, only those with a twisted mind would misinterpret it.

Seeing Oscar for the second time, he felt he could take him on as an apprentice.

His talent and character were both excellent.

"Handsome, do you want to be my apprentice? I can give you, a support-type Soul Master, combat abilities comparable to a power-type Soul Master."

Hearing this, Oscar covered his mouth and chuckled, replying, "Uncle, stop messing around. What can you teach me?"

Lan Minghua had anticipated his answer and didn't press the issue.

"Forget it, I'm Shilaike's teacher now anyway. If you change your mind, you can be my apprentice anytime."

Turning to Zhao Wuji, who had just fed sausages to Dai Mubai and the other, he asked, "Hey, Old Zhao, where do I live?"

"Hua-zai, your house is ready. Just turn left and go straight for about a hundred meters ahead. Do you need me to take you there?"

"No need, I can go by myself." Lan Minghua shuffled towards the house in his slippers.

  Oscar was dumbfounded, speechless.

"Teacher Zhao, is that uncle really the Dean's newly recruited teacher?!"

Zhao Wuji stared at Lan Minghua's back and nodded emphatically.

"The letter Flander wrote to me personally shouldn't be fake. And his strength is no less than mine; he's at least a Soul Saint."

Upon hearing this, Oscar was stunned.

Who would be a Soul Saint looking like a vagrant, unable to even produce five copper soul coins?

  Wait, a Soul Saint?!

Oscar belatedly realized that he had just rejected a Soul Saint as his teacher.

Don't underestimate Soul Saints; in Douluo Continent I, they are already powerful.

Seeing his bitter face, Zhao Wuji reminded him, "Little Oscar, if you want to become his disciple, go ahead. A Soul Saint master is a rare find."

Shrek Academy has a graduation system.

After graduation, teachers are no longer obligated to protect their students.

From then on, life and death are left to fate.

But a master is different; they truly treat you like family.

Oscar's mind raced, recalling Lan Minghua's words, and he was deeply moved.

To give a support-type Soul Master combat power comparable to a power-attack-type Soul Master!

As a support-type Soul Master, he was well aware of his own weaknesses.

Without the protection of companions, even the most useful support Soul Master is just a support Soul Master.

Oscar knew very well that if Lan Minghua hadn't deceived him with his charms, then the chance to defy fate was right in front of him.

  "Teacher Zhao, I'll go first!"

Without giving Zhao Wuji a chance to speak, he pedaled his tricycle and rushed off.

On the ground, Ma Hongjun, who had eaten the sausage, woke up, but Dai Mubai was still asleep.

Perhaps because Dai Mubai was thick-skinned, the damage to him wasn't that great.

The moment he saw Zhao Wuji, Ma Hongjun clung to his leg and cried.

"Teacher Zhao, you have to stand up for me! Just now, some stinking beggar tried to kill me."

"You have to kill him for me. You absolutely can't let Shrek Academy lose face."

Zhao Wuji sneered. Ma Hongjun didn't mention a word about what he had done.

If Lan Minghua had wanted to kill him, he would have been dead long ago.     However, not wanting a conflict between student and teacher, he reminded him, "Enough! Do you think I don't know who caused this trouble?"

Ma Hongjun's face stiffened; he hadn't expected his little scheme to be seen through.

"He's Flander's newly recruited teacher, and his strength is no less than mine. If you want to cause trouble, go do it yourself. Don't use me as a pawn." After reprimanding Zhao Wuji, he left without looking back.

In his youth, he had already made many enemies; now he understood the ways of the world.

To offend a powerful figure no less than himself for Ma Hongjun's sake—was he out of his mind?

Watching Zhao Wuji's retreating figure, a murderous intent flashed deep in Ma Hongjun's eyes.

He helped the dazed Dai Mubai up and returned to the dormitory.

Lan Minghua arrived at the house Zhao Wuji had mentioned and casually pushed open the door.

Nothing special; simply put, it was clean and tidy.

"Flander has put in a lot of effort; at least this house is better than the student dormitories."

Flander understood the ways of the world quite well.

Lan Minghua sat in his chair, deep in thought. He had forgotten to ask Zhao Wuji when Shrek Academy would start recruiting students.

  "Knock, knock, knock!"

Just as he sat down, there was a knock on the door, followed by a voice.

"Uncle, do you want a disciple? I've come to become your apprentice!"

Lan Minghua didn't know what Zhao Wuji had said to Oscar, but he could guess.

He must have known about his strength.

Otherwise, Oscar wouldn't have come so quickly.

  That was the reality.

  "Handsome, come in."

The door opened as soon as the words were spoken.

Oscar appeared before Lan Minghua on a sliding kneel, bowing deeply.

  "Master, please accept my bow!"

Lan Minghua didn't immediately agree, asking, "Handsome, why do you want to be my disciple now?"

Oscar didn't hide anything, respectfully replying, "Because you are very strong. Teacher Zhao said you are no weaker than the Dean. And you said you could make me as strong as a power-attack type Soul Master, so I want to become your apprentice."

It was straightforward, without any beating around the bush.

Lan Minghua was satisfied with Oscar's answer; it was genuine.

"One last question, when does Shrek Academy recruit students this year?"

Oscar wondered why Lan Minghua would ask, but honestly replied, "Tomorrow is recruitment day, and Teacher Li will be in charge."

"I see." Lan Minghua pondered for a moment, then said to him, "Get up. From now on, you are my disciple, Lan Minghua's disciple."

  "Thank you, Master!"

The moment Oscar was accepted as his disciple, the system's voice rang in Lan Minghua's mind.

  [Ding, disciple accepted successfully.]

  [Master Teacher title unlocked successfully.]

  [Eldest Disciple: Oscar.]

  [Soul Power: Level 29.]

  [System Talent Rating: 95.]

  [Master Teacher Points: 900.]

[Ways to obtain Master Teacher Points: 1. Recruit disciples with a system talent rating of 80 or higher; 800 Master Teacher Points for each 80-rated disciple; 2. Teach disciples cultivation techniques; if the disciple successfully cultivates and their strength increases, Master Teacher Points may be awarded at the system's discretion.]

Lan Minghua raised an eyebrow, not expecting the system to round down instead of rounding up.

If you round it up, taking Oscar as his apprentice would earn him 1000 Master Points.

Oscar rubbed his hands together, his face beaming with flattery, "Master, shouldn't you teach me something?"

Lan Minghua took out the manuals again and handed them to him, "These are all my self-created soul skills, choose one."

"Teacher, I want this one, 'Indestructible Vajra'!" "

Handsome boy, you're quite brave, aren't you? 'Indestructible Vajra' is very difficult to master, you're going to suffer a lot."

Lan Minghua's tone became teasing, and Oscar couldn't help but shiver.

  "Ha!"
