Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:Essence

Another bad day as a pathetic boy...

Els: i cant take this, why am i so weak?

Els: Why wont i get stronger? its frustrating

Els: i wished for a normal power, just like other people

a normal essence that Abyys gives people

Yes, its just like Els said, its said that essences come from Abyss.

The Origin of Essences

In the world where Kasane and the others reside, power is not found by mere luck or fate. It is a gift—no, a curse—bestowed upon those who dare to confront the depths of the Outer Abyss, the realm of the Twiceborn.

Legend has it that long before the world was shaped into its current form, there existed a vast and ever-expanding void—the Abyss. The Abyss was not simply a place of darkness,

but a force of raw potential, infinite and unmeasurable. It was a realm that consumed and birthed life alike, where every soul's unresolved pain and latent power gathered, forming a wellspring of unimaginable energy.

It is said that every living being is born with a connection to the Abyss, though not everyone can perceive it. The Essence is the reflection of this connection—a manifestation of the deep well of untapped potential within.

For some, this connection to the Abyss is a faint whisper, barely noticeable throughout their lives, while for others, it is a roaring storm that shapes their very being. When a person learns to

confront and accept the Abyss within them, their Essence awakens.

The Price of the Essence: The Sacrifice

In the world where the Abyss and Essences intertwine, power does not come freely. The Abyss is a force that thrives on balance, and every gain comes with a loss. When a person awakens their Essence and draws from the Abyss to unlock their abilities, they must sacrifice something of great personal value in exchange—often something that cannot be easily regained.

This exchange is a harsh truth known to those who have dared to tap into the Abyss. The price is different for every individual, depending on their connection to their Essence. Some sacrifice parts of their body, others their memories, and some even lose a piece of their very soul. The more powerful the Essence, the greater the cost.

Chapter 2: Forms of Sacrifice

1. Loss of Body

Those whose Essence is linked to physical power—like the Essence of rage, Essence of Ruin, or Essence of War—often pay the price by losing part of their body. A warrior who masters the Essence of rage might find their hands burned away, leaving only charred stumps, but in return, they gain the ability to create and control their rage with ease.

2. Loss of Memory

The Essence of Light or the Essence of Healing may demand a sacrifice of memories. A healer might lose the memory of a loved one, perhaps a child or a parent, but in return, their healing powers become far more potent, able to cure wounds and ailments that would normally be beyond reach.

3. Loss of Soul

For those who confront the Abyss with rage or sorrow, the cost may be even more severe. Essences of Vengeance or Essences of greed might demand the soul as a price. Users may lose a part of their humanity—their ability to feel certain emotions, like joy or compassion. As a result, they become more powerful in their destructive capabilities, but they slowly transform into something less than human, a hollow vessel driven by nothing but their need for revenge or despair.

4. Loss of Energy

There are rare individuals whose Essences are tied to time manipulation or space. For them, the price is steep—life energy or normal energy itself. Using their powers causes them to lose hours maybe days of energy, As a result, their bodies age and sleep prematurely, and they experience the loss of important life energy—perhaps childhood memories or key moments of growth and love. Despite their incredible abilities, they are always running out of time

There are more essences and ther equivalent exchanges but they will be shown in the web novel itself.
