Shota pushed himself off the wall and rolled his shoulders. The wind breakthrough had hit him hard. His ribs complained, but thankfully nothing was broken. His mask hid the pained face he made.
The dust settled after the wind had picked it up.
Spider stood in the centre of the room, completely unharmed, balanced gently in a glowing spider web of his own threads. He looked relaxed, like he was waiting for tea.
Shota stood where he was as his binding cloth shot forward again, white ribbons whipping through the air faster than most eyes could follow.
Spider was ready this time.
"Ninja Art: Spider Reaper Threads."
His fingers clawed the air. Green wind-nature threads flashed into existence. They slashed in perfect arcs.The binding cloth met the threads and lost.
Pieces of expensive white fabric rained down like snow. Each cut was clean and perfect.
Shota's eye twitched so hard it almost hurt.
"Oi, sensei! You are paying for that! And I want real money for that! I have receipts! Those cost me a lot. Do you know how many comfortable pillows and matreses that I could have bought with that amount?"
Spider landed lightly and put his hands on his hips. "Have some shame, you idiot student. We are fighting in front of the Kazekage and you want money for some cloth? I have not had a raise in years myself and you want me to pay for that? Do you want your poor sensei to starve?"
Up on the platform, Rasa's eye twitched.
He inwardly thought,'You are already an ANBU commander. What promotion does he want? My job?'
Earthworm tried very hard not to laugh.
Shota stopped sending the cloth. It was useless if Spider just cut it to pieces. While, it was resistant to sword or kunai cuts, Spider's chakra threads with wind chakra were sharper than steel and could even cut steel.
Besides, Shota also noticed something important.
Spider was holding back during the fight.
He had only used the wind threads to defend. He had not attacked once with the sharper, faster versions that could slice stone. He was giving Shota room to fight since Shota was not allowed to use his main weapon of Erasure. It would sort off make the fight fair.
Shota's options were running out too. The spider web jutsu was still too hard. He could make the basic threads now, but shaping full webs and keeping them alive was a nightmare. One year of practice and he was barely halfway.
'Fine. I have only one card left.' Shota thought
He grabbed his right forearm with his left hand and focused.
"Ninja Art: Yokai Rasengan."
A blue sphere formed above his palm. It spun so fast it screamed. The air around it blurred.
Rasa leaned forward as he watched the sealless jutsu. "That is the variant of the Yellow Flash's jutsu that he created for his assassination missions?"
Earthworm nodded proudly. "Yes, Lord Kazekage."
While Shota had not revealed his new Rasengan to the higher ups on his own, it could not be said for others that sometimes accompanied him in missions.
In a few missions, he had anbu teammates who blabbed about the unique jutsu that they saw him use. Shota had sword never to tell the Anbus any of his secrets since they were all 'Yes Boss' type of people and reported everything to the Anbu commanders and the Kazekage.
Shota flicked two fingers.
The Yokai Rasengan shot off his hand like a bullet. It flew straight at Spider, faster than most jōnin could blink.
Spider body-flickered away.
The orb turned in mid-air and followed.
Spider's eyes widened behind the mask. He understood now why mission reports always said no target ever escaped this attack or managed to defend itself from it.
'It has immense speed and with Shota able to take away the chakra of a person no one would be able to dodge it with just human level of speed.' Spider thought
He ran up the wall intending for the orb to slam into the wall.
Seeing this, Shota thought, 'Does he thinks of me as an idiot? I have seen such things happen in countless animes already.'
The orb followed, curving smoothly along the wall.
Spider jumped to the ground. The orb followed.
Spider spun and threw a spider web of normal threads, feeding it chakra from one finger string.
The Yokai Rasengan crashed into the web and exploded.
The blast destroyed the web and filled the room with dust and noise.
Spider landed, ready to smile.
Then he felt it.
His arms, legs, and whole body wrapped tight in white cloth. The binding cloth had sneaked behind the explosion and caught him completely. He could not move. He could not form seals.
Shota appeared beside his head, kunai at the wrapped neck.
"You let your guard down, sensei. You celebrated too early. That is not what you taught me."
Spider's voice came from behind Shota, amused.
"Did I?"
Shota felt threads wrap around him from every side. A perfect spider net held him like a fly.
Spider stood free, feeding chakra into the net.
"You lose, little raven. Never celebrate too early."
Shota glared, then opened his eyes wide.
Erasure.
Spider's chakra vanished instantly. The net dissolved into nothing.
Shota broke free and pulled his cloth back.
The wrapped Spider in front of him waved once and crumbled into rock.
'An earth clone. He must have used it using the dust created by the wind breakthrough jutsu.' Shota complained in his mind.
Shota stared at the real Spider standing ten metres away, laughing quietly.
"Fuck you! If I could have used Erasure from the start, that earth clone would be rubble!"
Spider just chuckled.
