Heera's words of caution seemed genuine. She was still looking at the system and then at Cane.
It seemed as if her worries had something to do with his modifier that said 'kill on sight'. Not that he knew what it was just yet.
"Is it truly that bad of a modifier?" Cane asked Heera, and she shook her head, showing that she had no words for him.
"Bad is… an underestimation. There are only a dozen or so people with this modifier, and they all gained it after doing heinous crimes in the game. Like, destroy-nations kind of crime. And they all are level 100 or above. You have not even started the game yet…"
Heera sounded lost, and she quickly looked at her screen—more likely at her chat at the moment.
Then, she turned to look at him, and her strong hand patted his shoulder.
"Anyway, it's not too late yet. You can still turn back and start anew. If you want, I can help you out as well."
The female told him with a serious look in her eyes, and for a second, Cane considered following her words and starting anew.
But then he paused before he thought of his career.
Would a normal game truly satisfy him as much as his current setting did? His account was glitched anyway, so he might as well enjoy it.
But most importantly, his audience would get to see something they had never seen before. It could shoot his career to new heights.
This glitched account was a goldmine waiting to be explored. Why would he abandon it just to start anew?
"I understand your worries, and I am glad that you are worried about my safety. But I think I will stick with this account for now."
He told her, and she looked shocked at his words. But finally, she sighed and pulled her hand back.
"Alright, I understand. In that case, you should give me something I can use to contact you outside this game as well. You will need all the help you can get in this game if you want to make it past level 20."
Heera told him and then flinched as she looked at her screen. From that reaction, he could tell that her chat must have gone wild hearing what she said.
After all, Heera was a female streamer who had just offered to give her personal number to an unknown male. No wonder her chat was going wild over this.
He waited for Heera to change her mind, but she seemed to have made it up. Her purple eyes looked at him for an answer.
"Alright, I'll send it to you. Where should I contact you?"
He asked her, and she paused before looking at her screen once more. She was bent forward, and that showed the 'assets' she had paid for rather clearly.
"Give me a second. I need to block the screen so that no one else knows…"
She told him as she pressed some buttons before she relaxed. She wrote down a number for him on the ground because that was the only way she could give him information.
The only other option was the world chat, and that was the worst possible place for Heera to put her number out.
He quickly copied the number on his notepad before she erased it.
"I need to log off now. As soon as you hit level 10 and open co-op, come and meet me. We can do quests together."
Heera informed him, and he nodded before she logged off to change her settings.
With this, he had a new 'friend' he could use in the future. He would need to look at her information once he got the time as well.
But before that, he needed to hit level 10.
Once the monsters were cleared out, he found his way to the beginner's village. It was where people learned the basics of this world and about their stats. They also went through their first job change before getting access to the map.
He was going to follow the same process as well, so he followed the map placement from his memory.
But the map had changed enough for him not to recognize it. And even the job center was not where it used to be.
Even the icon that was leading him around for his first quest had disappeared, leaving him with no way to know what he needed to do next.
He had no choice but to ask someone else around him.
"Excuse me, do you know where the job center is? I want to start my adventure."
He asked an NPC, and the man stopped to look at him. He felt nervous when the NPC did not immediately reply.
But when he did, he sounded equally as confused as Cane did.
"Job center? Why do you want to go to job center? It's a place for fancy adventurers to go. Common folks like us have our own work to do. Come, follow me."
The man told him, and Cane followed. He took him to a farm that looked huge and was filled with different kinds of crops.
"We are going to harvest this crop, young man. Get ready to work. Once your exp hits 100, you can stop. Ah, if you find some golden balls, bring them to me. I will give you a special reward for them."
The man told him, and Cane sighed as he looked at the work he had been assigned.
Since the NPC had talked about exp, that meant that this was a quest. But it was not a quest he recalled from the beta test.
Most beta test quests had been about combat and such, getting players ready to face the world.
'Tsk, don't tell me that it's because of my NPC status… is this part of the glitch effect as well?'
If so, then wasn't this a goldmine of content? A never-before-seen side of the game was something people always looked forward to, and he could capitalize on it as the only player to achieve this.
