Chapter 103 - The funeral

The funeral was over.

One by one, people offered their condolences and left. Soon, the cemetery grew quiet again. Summer remained seated before the grave, unmoving. Her eyes were hollow, unfocused. Not a single tear fell.

She had buried her daughter.

Along with Hope, everything else had been buried too—her dreams, her expectations, her will to live. There was nothing left inside her. She only wanted to die.

In her previous life, her daughter had been taken from her and killed. She herself had died with endless regret. When fate gave her another chance, Summer believed she could change everything. She believed she could protect her daughter, give her a good future, and finally live a peaceful life.

But in the end, she still failed.

She was useless. A mother who couldn't even save her own child. What reason did she have to keep living?

The thought repeated endlessly in her mind, slowly hardening into resolve.

"Summer," Chloe called softly. "Everyone has left. Let's go home."
